"She's got man hands"

Not only has she got man hands, she looks creepy! Cripes, can't they come up with a non-creepy android?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

This is the beginning of the Matrix. The beginning of the end, man's demise.

The underlying hand and face structure may have been based on male dimensions, with female overlay added later.

Plus they're not doing too well with the skin texture. The rougher texture makes it look more male.

This one's worse, shown at CEATEC 2008: http://www.techradar.com/news/future-tech/world-of-tech/freaky-robot-girl-shown-off-at-ceatec-473985

It's a PROTOTYPE.

How many hours of labor for a REAL PERSON does the research, building and maintenance of Skynet-san cost?

I can see this opening up Pandora's box for the sex industry here in Japan.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Can't they hook up with a company that makes love dolls? This thing is ugly as all get out!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

is it just me? or these guys keep making Female sexy androids? they don't talk about the fact that half of the reasons for producing these is sexual and sexism.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

female androids have a larger appeal to the crowd because they "ought" to look more friendlier. Male androids would look more aggressive and scary.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

papigiulio they can make a friendly male looking android? that is what I am talking about, there's a mix of sexism in these.

Plus why don't they just make a tehcnology that is useful for human beings? something that won't make us extinct. recpetionist androids are just useless.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

And the purpose of this is? Replace convene staff? Work on the production line? Be talent on TV? Understand it's about technology but why does it appear as a bizarre female?

Sabrage: It's a PROTOTYPE.

Bad marketing to put a prototype like that out there.

turbostat, don't worry, the 800 series will look more realistic. Hair, skin, bad breath, everything.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@urbotsat are you silly ?! IT'S A SCIENCE FAIR, not a department store.

One component of PM Abe's growth strategy calls for "employing robots to care for the elderly," according to the Nikkei Asian Review (June 26, 2014). I have heard that politicians are also expecting to see robots developed for childcare.

Apparently, the 'logic' behind this is that mass production of humanoid gizmos will enable Japan to deal with its rapidly growing population of elderly citizens and shrinking workforce, consequently precluding the need for the nation to resort to the less desirable solution of bringing in caregivers from overseas. It sounds like more than a few politicians fully expect this robot caregiver solution to take shape.

She hasn't got a pulsing mouth?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

They've put her in a lovely blouse.

Wonders when I can get one to clean the house, cook and act as security.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Lacks expression, cold to the touch, docile and ready to do anything on command, yep, she was designed by a Japanese man who based it off of his housewife, alright.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Looks pretty freaky to me, but I guess they probably will for some time to come.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

YuriOtani and has to be a goodlooking one too ;)

Before reading the headline, I thought it was another photo of Obuchi.

http://en.rocketnews24.com/2014/08/12/we-swear-we-wont-tell-anyone-if-you-buy-one-of-these-super-life-like-sex-dolls-from-japan/ They could have started with one of these dolls.

And as others have said, i believe they do come with all the vibrating parts already

JT should put the full name of the android.... R. Aiko Chihara

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How do we know they are coming? Is that what she is signing. Or is it the squeaking?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Guys do you really want it to be prettier, with soft skin and less creepy? It's a robot! it they make them "prettier" or "sexier" next you'll complain about how are replacing human women...

The eyes of this to robot is too small. They need to use better model like blonde supermodels :) By the way, I hope Sony to resume making aibo dog robots.

Most likely, yes!

It was featured in animatrix. Sex robots are part of the robot revolution and will make up huge part of the android industry, in the future.

Saiaku: @urbotsat are you silly ?! IT'S A SCIENCE FAIR, not a department store.

It's TOSHIBA not a high school student. They can't take the pictures back, off the web. Only thing to do is present a much better product and that may take a while.

I guess it's about average as far as creepy female robots go.

Hope some of you are wrong, else Japan's future looks like Chobits --> I Robot --> Vexille. In that order.

About the appearance, at least she looks better than the robot turbotsat posted. That thing had Downs Syndrome or something.

Personally i would rather have a robots function take precedence over looking like us. Build a construction bot we can send into space for station construction and mining. would benefit humanity more than a fembot/secretary
