Members of a traditional firefighting preservation group perform on bamboo ladders during the annual New Year's Fire Brigade Review in Tokyo on Thursday. The review has been observed for more than 300 years, according to the Tokyo Fire Department.

no ? you shud say yes considering Japan had firefighter during EDO period while other Asian countries didn't know anything about firefighter.

I often find it best to fight fire while upside down, it really gives me a better understanding of the whole process.

The ladders were used to spot the location of the fire. And firefighters back then didn’t have any hoses so they basically sledgehammered all the neighboring houses to stop fire from spreading..
