Tuna taste test

Japanese actor Kai Ato tastes some Kindai Maguro, a trademarked Pacific bluefin tuna cultivated by Kinki University's Fisheries Laboratory, at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo on Wednesday. The event was held by Toyota Tsusho Corp and Kinki University to announce a new aquafarm business to cultivate Kindai Maguro. The new venture will cultivate 300,000 tuna fry a year at a facility in Nagasaki Prefecture.

Don't mention the 'R' word on JT even though there are massive amounts of radiation STILL pouring into the environment.....

Let's hope the demand is sufficient for this farmed tuna to leave the wild ones alone for a decade or so. Biologists have concluded that populations of many tuna (including bluefin) may never recover. They have been taking the all the healthy fish out of the gene pools and, as a result, the fish are becoming genetically smaller.

Ha~ Get it while you can, I guess. Japanese fishes 80% of the world's Pacific bluefin tuna catch. It is expected to become extinct soon.
