Good job! Bandwagons are out again though and the 'fans' are coming out of the woodwork.

I'm not a fan, and I don't even like tennis, but I'd still like to see him win. Anything wrong with that?

I'm not a fan, and I don't even like tennis, but I'd still like to see him win. Anything wrong with that? Ah thats what a bandwagon is,

a party, cause, movement, etc., that by its mass appeal or strength readily attracts many followers: After it became apparent that the incumbent would win, everyone decided to jump on the bandwagon.*

What men's tournament is only 3 setter matches????

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Or maybe, just maybe, I'm tired of him losing in/near the finals so I'm wishing him well. I guess, according to you and Smith, that I must wish him well for reasons you find acceptable

As far as I know, only the major tournaments go up to 5-setters.

Or maybe, just maybe, I'm tired of him losing in/near the finals so I'm wishing him well. and like smith and I keep saying he doesn't have the game to win the big tournaments, but will have to settle for the smaller 3 setters for his paycheck

No, unless you walk around saying how much you like Nishikori and then suddenly stop talking about him or liking him when he loses....

""Or maybe, just maybe, I'm tired of him losing in/near the finals so I'm wishing him well."

Like that, for example. A TRUE fan supports the people he/she likes through thick and thin -- not when they are winning only. The media is the worst, but bandwagon fans not far behind in terms of lowliness.

Maybe you missed the part where I said:

I'm not a fan

I'd still like to see him win. Anything wrong with that?"

Which I don't do. I only mentioned it because I saw the picture

The media is the worst, but bandwagon fans not far behind in terms of lowliness.

But people who make disparaging comments about others are perfectly acceptable I guess

sensei258: "Maybe you missed the part where I said"

No, didn't miss it, and I never said you were a TRUE fan. And wishing him well is great -- I do myself. It's the "maybe I'm tired of him losing" part that indicates an interest when he is doing well (and a 'tired'ness when not). Bandwagon, my friend. In your defence, though, some other bandwagon fans don't even mention him anymore at all because they are fed up with him not doing as the media have hyped him up to do for a couple of years or more now. So, I guess there's that.

Or maybe it indicates that you misinterpreted what I said. I just felt sorry for the guy. You telling me I mean something other that what I said I mean doesn't make it so, no matter how hard you try
