I'm sure Abe san is thinking that he should keep his friends close and his enemies even closer, if so then he's doing the right thing.

Abe arrives in Washington for talks with Trump

Did he bring him a second 500,000 yen golden gold club paid with tax payers money?

Remember those high stakes diplomatic talks between Koizumi and Bush aimed at securing a pair of Elvis's sunglasses that the songbird prime minister could wear for late night karaoke? (Actually I vaguely recall that Koizumi later made an all Elvis cover album--anyone heard it and want to give us a short review? Was he better than late loungey Presley?)

Abe is looking to form a personal bond with the mercurial property mogul-turned president.

Mercurial: erratic, impulsive, unpredictable, fickle, flaky

Just the type of person Abe needs to befriend. Standing next to 'The Donald' will make 'The Shinzo' look rather steadfast, like Bud Abbott.

Maybe instead of golf they could go jogging. Can you imagine the clinically obese Trump wobbling all over the place, Oh I'd pay money to see him tweet his way out of that.

If he really is committing to create a whopping 700,000 jobs in the US and invest tens of billions including even from the national pension fund, then he better be getting a whole metric ton more in return than a lousy security commitment which is already enshrined in a treaty and James Mattis already committed to this week..

I assume a good place to start would be unfettered access to the American market on almost all goods as well as a big slice of Trump's infrastructure investment pie

Is Mr.Abe being a leading enterpreneur when he talks business with businessman like Mr.Trump? Otherwise those talks will doomed like 'Extortion'!

I pointed out that Abe is just a caddy to an old codger who loves the man to death today and he went BALLISTIC... mostly because he feels a deep sense of shame at being betrayed by the man he loves. He also went ballistic when the Emperor admitted Japan has Korean blood running through its veins, because again his symbol and god was saying and doing something he didn't agree with, and the implosion was quite the thing to see.

Yup, Ivanka Jared, and Bannon are sitting in the front row at the press conference. The sucking up and going overboard in praising someone you want to do business with is a cultural thing, and Abe was sure chummy and seemed like he's ready to give Trump his world on a gold platter. The Donald was very well behaved, and read most likely from a prepared speech. Abe, behind closed doors must've promised the Trump family that if have to, will print more money to accommodate America and the Family. Wouldn't be surprised if Ivanka and son-in-law are in charge exclusively of the Abe party at Maralago to insure that the family gets to build or sell goods in Tokyo.

Abe gave excellent image of Japan.

over Trump’s destruction of a trans-Pacific trade deal and his apparent willingness to put long-standing defense commitments into question.

Rather surprising that a French based news service would take the Japanese point of view regarding the TPP. It wasn't destroyed without reason. Trump has a point about bilateral trade agreements vs huge open market agreements.

Abe is also responsible for "destroying" the TPP in his rush to push it through the Diet knowing fully well that either US candidate were going to pull out of it. Abe SHOULD have waited, and looked to reopening negotiations to get the pact approved. He helped screw the deal as well.

"Abe gave excellent image of Japan."

He certainly has! He and mini-me Trump-Masayoshi Son- are leading a boom here on the Space Coast. Just great news! Ahh! Nice, low gas prices, jobs everywhere, no twitter accounts and we can drink the water. Enjoy the golfing while you're here Mr. Abe!

Prime Minister Abe should be prepared to be frustrated. President Trump seems to only listen 1:100 times. He should be prepared for Pres. Trump to lie, directly to his face too, but with a smile.
