Sounds like China's answer to the Yasukuni museum.

These are the reasons Japan is sinking more money into a collective defense budget. The Chinese are dumping enough cash into their re education and pro communist agendas that is just might brain wash enough people into actually doing something stupid.

Ask yourself why?, with a bunch of lapdogs Japanese government white washing IJA WAR CRIMES, and with US government Blessing, no wonder we are having all this tension.

Just admit and Apologize, advertise in all the Major Medias outlet worldwide, China will have to move on and not bitch about it anymore.

That would be like a pipe dream, asking Japan government to admit it.

China would be advised to sort out their house first and stop pretending they are "rich and unstoppable":

"China's Total Debt Load Now Over 280% Of GDP"

http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2015/05/09/chinas-total-debt-load-now-over-280-of-gdp/

Soon enough they wll be busy strugling to feed all those hungry mouths, rather than trying to play power politics.

Apologies and admissions would only feed the nationalistic demon arising in China. Distraction from the market failure coming, destruction of the Asian peace.

Paulinusa - just a one teeny weeny difference - no war criminals.

Interesting comments by Taiwan. In recent years the rhetoric across the Straits has taken a back seat to business cooperation. It will be interesting to see if either side takes the next step and empties out their closet regarding each other's periodic cooperation with the Japanese for the purpose of getting one up on each other.

Now that the government is trying to make us forget, it is up to China to keep the memory alive.

As I have mentioned in a similar thread, the Chinese communist government is engaging in this massive propaganda effort to re-write the entire narrative of WW II for their own self-interests, and in their minds, their own survival. The party must have a demon to focus the public’s attention away from endemic corruption and denial of basic human rights – better if the demon is “foreign”, as they can then embellish the narrative with emotionally charged accusations of historical slights to “China’s dignity”. As has been mentioned, similarly this week, you’ve seen coverage in China’s state controlled media blaming “foreigners” for the deep sell-off in the Chinese stock market, though foreigners own only 1.5% of assets in the market.

Let’s make a quick comparison between Japan and China – those in Japan that oppose Abe’s right wing politics can support and vote for political parties that also oppose Abe and the LDP. What anti-communist political parties exist in China, and what happens to you if you do support anti-communist party views? As with this weekend, if you oppose Abe and the LDP, you have the right to legitimately protest in public, to convince others of your views – what happens when you conduct an anti-communist party protest in China? In Japan, there are media outlets that cater to and serve as a voice for anti-Abe and anti-LDP views – what non-state approved media outlets exist in China?

This massive propaganda effort is only about one thing - keeping the Chinese communist party in power.

sandhonourJul. 08, 2015 - 09:12AM JST Paulinusa - just a one teeny weeny difference - no war criminals.

Long dead war criminals can't hurt anybody, But a militant dictatorship drunk on nationalism and territorial expansion and regional domination can. It can hurt ALOT of people.

I fail to see the point of this kind of article. It merely gives the China-bashers an excuse to come out of the closet. If Japan had been forthcoming in their history textbooks, perhaps this kind of exhibition would no longer be held. Now there's a thought...

. . . the Chinese communist government is engaging in this massive propaganda effort to re-write the entire narrative of WW II for their own self-interests, and in their minds, their own survival.

Hmm, sounds very familiar. Have they started appealing to the international community to rewrite their history books yet?

BEIJING — China opened Tuesday an exhibition of guns and photos of massacres to commemorate the World War II victory over Japan, part of a propaganda push to stir up nationalism by observing the 70th anniversary of the war’s end in Asia with great fanfare So China beat Japan by being massacred?? Seems like a weird way to show a victory

'sandhonour - Paulinusa - just a one teeny weeny difference - no war criminals' oh yes, there is , it is cal teh communist party!

@ Wakarimasen

So China beat Japan by being massacred?? Seems like a weird way to show a victory

Yes, they used up all the bullets so they could not be used on the Americans.

But now America is China's big enemy?

China won the war again Japan.

But it was the KMT who fought Japan, with the USA's support, and back when the KMT were the big enemy.

Funny old world, isn't it.

I appreciate China really does not need to bother about what the rest of the world thinks about it but it comes across as ridiculous time and time again.

Fact is China hasn't won over Japan at all. It hasn't even fought. It has only been conquered. US won over Japan. There was no alliance US - China to fight...

It does indeed sound like a Yasukuni look-a-like. Well here is another thought for China, use the exhibition to show both Chinese and Japanese victims of war. That could probably make some people in the West start taking Chinese peaceful intentions a little more seriously. The ridiculous "hidden" nationalistic and expansionistic rhetoric convinces nobody.

There was no alliance US - China to fight...

May be not an overt alliance but certainly a covert ones.

Old Chiang "Cash My Check" Kai-shek and his cronies made fortunes out of US financial support and military aid.

Had it and other Western Imperialist not been pouring support into China, likely the Chinese people would have avoided Mao's excesses and been enjoying Japanese quality of life today.

It's a classic case of imperialistic "divide and rule" ... supplying the weaker party with financial support and military aid in order to exhaust the stronger party. Which it did.

The IJA became mired down in China and the Chinese people paid an almighty price for US policy.

China opened Tuesday an exhibition of guns and photos of massacres to commemorate the World War II victory over Japan,

And the term victory gains a new interpretation.

Good news is that by the time their stock market hemorrhaging is over Chinese people might be able to see exhibit for free. After all their government needs some "evil" to blame their demise.

What else China flexing their muscles.

Fact, is US and UN gotten their butt kick by poorly arm communist army, there you go jolly Roger.

For those who like to quote history, please do read:

The Imperial Cruise by James Bradley.

It will give you some insight into what has and may be happening in Asia today with Japan in mind. After having read it, my view of so called facts and data have always been through multiple perspectives and have learned not only to doubt but also appreciate why and how they are being used.

Neither the People's Republic of China nor Japan are fighting by WW2. The other party with whom Japan fought is the Republic of China (Taiwan).

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

to commemorate the World War II victory over Japan

China did not defeat Imperial japan.

The US did.

China's victory over Japan? Holy 1984 batman. A real victorious nation does not need this kind of gaudy display to make themselves feel better than they actually do. I also have not met a single American that was proud that America had to carpet bomb two entire countries....

i'm going to stand my ground.

Hardly a virtue when you're standing on an opening crevice.
