It was the first time Japan, the only country to have suffered a nuclear attack, had concluded such a pact with a country that is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT).

So, how does that square with rewarding a country that is not a signatory to the NPT with nuclear contracts and petitioning the US not to abandon a no-first strike policy and not signing up to the recent initiative in the UN to give up nuclear weapons? I think Abe has not considered how this looks abroad. Some may see it is a total hypocrisy. Give up the propaganda and imaginary leadership (Abe's favourite fantasy) if you want the money.

@Yubaru if the govt says it is for civilian purposes, do you really believe this? Selling nuclear weapon grade materials to a nuclear armed country, with a conflict dogged history, not a member of the NPT...sounds like illegal arms dealing. Toshiba and Mitsubishi Heavy are rumored to have connections to the govt, but that would never be factor of course.

@ Michael D. ßolton we don't have enough energy like u have ,we need energy and this is a way to more energy ...can u spent a life where u get only 8-12 hour electricity power in a day?
