The corruption in my home country can not be cured quickly and it will take generations to get from the remains of new Russian so called business under the protection of the KGB and other state officials

Russia will gain the economic advantages, Japan will get nothing, just like before. It may be the Russian occupation of the islands is morally unjustified but Japan has to accept the reality. They are gone and they are not going to be returned.

I hope they settle the island issue. Good relations with Russia could be very beneficial to Japan.

Hey, Hiroshige Seko.

If you think any deal with Russia/Putin is 'win-win', you must be on drugs.

Taking drugs is illegal in Japan.

It is a good article. Seems informative and factual. We get some opinions of people who are involved and know what they are doing. Seems legit.

And he is right. Abe is trying to be a cheerleader and attract interest. But no deal is going to be a giveaway by any means, and a lot of businesses are wary. It is almost boring to say that all the deals will be win-win because, well, why wouldn't they be? And the win part of any deal would come over the long term. Yep.

So there it is. Now whether all the OTHER stuff can be decided or whether Putin makes a grand gesture, etc. All of that might be way up in the air, and you can discount it as you will. I am pretty skeptical overall, but I bet about two or three newsworthy deals come out of this meeting, not counting all the political window dressing stuff. And those deals will be concluded along the lines that SEKO mentioned. It won't be impressive unless Putin puts some effort into it.

You know what they say about ties. They bind.
