Lol. Made in Japan is really Made in China.

The company is Honma Golf and these clubs are still made in Japan by Japanese people. I really don't see how Chinese investors eagerly bidding to buy up overpriced Japanese assets is a win for Chinese pride. The only thing the People's Daily has succeeded in doing is ensuring that fewer people will buy these 'Chinese' clubs now that they know who owns the company.

Uhm, where did you read anything about "pride" here? Sounds like projection. I mean, a company being bought by a company from a country where it was inconceivable to actually to be where they are today, especially in the context of China vs Japan, would hurt someone's pride, I would imagine.

The only thing the People's Daily has succeeded in doing is ensuring that fewer people will buy these 'Chinese' clubs now that they know who owns the company.

Then that would be bad for the Japanese people working in the originally Japanese Honma Golf company in the land of Japan...

I wonder if Abe even had a clue about this. Were the golf clubs his granddad gave to Eisenhower made by that company? Maybe he was just following in the footsteps of granddad, like he always is.

Don't feel bad: Same as "Trump ties."

golden golf club to reinforce mutual trust but made in China?? Hmmmm... maybe Abe is telling Trump, "Don't trust me."

They are not made in China. They are made in Japan. Honma Golf was taken over by a Chinese enterprise that has kept manufacturing in Japan. This has been known for some time and not a new development.
