There were around 1,900 arrests over women being molested on trains and in and around stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area last year. More than half of the incidents took place inside carriages.

How many of those arrests were the result of false charges? When I'm on the train, especially crowded ones, I keep both hands where everyone can see them.

Those that are convicted should face having to wear distinctive Groper signage whilst using public transport. Now that would make potential offenders think twice.

No doubt. Keep both hands visible at all times. There are false charges all the time. Not long ago a businessman complained to a girl putting on her make-up and she reported that he groped her at the next stop. Dude was arrested and given a choice of confessing + 40,000 fine or fighting the charges. He refused to confess for something he didn't do and was locked up without bail until his trial 6 months later. After one year he was found not guilty and released but the damage was done. He lost his job and family.
