Set up, discuss, resolve

In the meantime, most of us are already enjoying Net based TV and movies.

Hands off the net. We're not China, yet.

I am sure they will come to some conclusion, and put it into action 5 or 10 years after the technology they are responding to has become obsolete. Governments are like deadweight anchors to progress these days.

I used to blame these attitudes on the major entertainment companies like Sony - but it's the government cooperation with their backwards looking greed that allows them survive without adapting.

You mean then we will be able to see Japanese TV all over the world in real time? Won't it conflict with the Cool Japan promotion when people can do that?

Same as the commercial TV networks in Australia. They finally banded together are years of terrible online services from each of them to release an app (coming soon) that you can use on your phone or tablet. Combine all the commerical networks so its like on stop viewing.

Too many aussies joined Netflix

The technology is all there set up, just look at Softbank's offerings. The problem is that in such an ageing society, the demand and market is not there

well then, make it free and stop having the nutsacks from NHK coming over to ask us to pay...

and invigorate the content industry.

They would be best served joining current systems (hulu, netflix etc)... lots of staff, lots of content. There are huge challenges for Japanese TV to get in in it...

They already have to twist arms to get people to pay for Japanese channels like NHK; the quality of Japanese TV compared to what else is already have available is generally bad; Finally the whole glacial pace at which J business moves, they only make it harder to get situatied the longer they discuss what to do.

It's all about splitting up the money and assigning market share.

Just change the talent from humans to robots. Everything will go much more smoothly and the viewers won't notice.

Not for one second do I believe that technology is holding back Japan, considering so many other countries have been offering live streaming of terrestrial TV on the net for years.

More like they're still trying to figure out the best way to stiff consumers and get as much money out of them as possible. God forbid should there be free live streaming on what you seen on any TV set.

Even on Youtube and the net, there's sweet FA, considering you can get Ariranf from Korea, Pheonix and others from China and Sky live news from UK. And all for free.
