Good, they won as they should have. Keep going Japan!

Kind of funny, if they lost or had a draw, there would over 20 comments by now whining about everything. They win and no one cares.

Suup DaDude. Cambodia tho, no one cares. When will Japan play a more challenging world team?

Wow! Cambodia?? All the same, they needed a win. Congrats. SK still omitting.

The first hour was pretty embarrassing as they could not get it in the goal. They are crap!

Wow... even with the almighty Honda (well, he thinks himself a god, anyway) and Kagawa they couldn't score against CAMBODIA in the first half?? Most of the other teams with decent reputations SLAUGHTERED their counterparts.

I hope Japan doesn't make it. They don't deserve to. They should spare themselves the embarrassment of a quick first round elimination (as with the East-Asian Cup).

Actually, what's 'funny' is the fact that you come on a lot of sports threads and say that if the Japanese athlete loses out the same people who say s/he didn't deserve it won't continue to comment on the eventual, non-Japanese winner (in tennis, for example), but they do, and here you are again talking about how no one comments because they won, which people are doing. You generalize where no generalizations exist. This is a specific game where a much, MUCH higher ranked team beat a the lowest ranked team in the group. For the same reason you get a lot less comments on Murray -- the third ranked player -- winning than you do on the fourth ranked player being beaten by the 41st ranked player. The results listed on this thread are EXPECTED, as is the Murray victory, whereas the Nishikori loss, again as an example, is not and generates a lot more discussion. In other cases there are other reasons for further discussion. In this there isn't all that much to talk about at all.

Smith, reading comprehension : Keisuke Honda opened the scoring with a left-footed shot in the first half

bicultural: Not reading comprehension but merely bad skimming. I read where Yoshida scored in the second half, and also scanned the comments and saw ogtob's comment about no one scoring in the first hour and my brain jumped the gun. All the same, you are correct in that I was wrong. My bad.

Doesn't change the fact that it was a pretty poor performance overall in a game that should have been extremely one-sided -- and no, three zip is not that. 8-0 is, and even 5-0, but not 3-0.

Understood Mr. smith. Well, you got the result you wanted or expected vs Afganistan. 6-0. Sorry to say, Honda scored again.
