Well done Halil-Japan and Saudi Arabia, both look like going through in the group. Australia is looking very poor, they were incredibly lucky in that game not to lose to Iraq. Unless they string together a few wins now - with some very ordinary players, compared to years gone by, it must be said - they will probably miss out on Russia. Soccer in Australia has sadly gone backwards in the last few years.

Well done Japan. If only they hadn't lost the first leg, at home, against the same UAE though, they would be sitting pretty on top of the group...
Agree with buraku, socceroos are having a terrible campaign and it looks like they'll pay a heavy price for their 2-2 away draw in Thailand. Must win game vs UAE next week to stay in contention for a top 2 finish, otherwise will have to play SK or Uzbekistan (provided they finish 3rd) to make the WC.

...not that easy, goldorak... they'd have to play Uzbekistan and then the 4th placed CONCACAF team (likely Honduras, Panama, or USA). Very tough route

Yeah, the cattle just aren't there for the Aussies. When Robbie Kruse is currently one of your best attacking players, you know things are a battle.
But if Syria actually make the WC, it would be one of the best stories in sport for a long time. Extraordinary.

Yuya Kubo has been on fire ever since he started playing for a Belgian club Ghent.
