Miura told FIFA.com in comments published Tuesday: “I don’t actually feel like I’ve gone past a legend. I may have surpassed him in longevity but I won’t ever be able to match his statistics and the career he had.”

Way to go, King Kazu ! Keep on keeping on ! Ganbarre !

0 ( +1 / -1 )

the record Matthews set when he played for Stoke City against Fulham at the age of 50 years and 5 days in 1965

In those days he was probably doing it for the love of the game and his own personal motivation rather than the money and attention from media and corporate sponsors that didn't exist in those days. As long as the media says so Gambare King Kazu! The more I can see him with his thick-rimmed glasses (non-correctional) and turtlenecks waxing lyrical about what a champ he is, the better. Sell lots of coffee and cars! Gambare Nippon! And going back to the sport of soccer... That kind of gets left behind...
