The stage is set for England 2018 and Australia 2022.

Do the right thing FIFA! Make it so!

My choice is Russia.

FIFA should remember Lord Triesmans allegations of bid-rigging a few months ago which FIFA dismissed and for which Lord Triesman got the sack. Lord Triesman accused the Russians and the Spanish and it is a well known fact (as recently mentioned by FIFA) that the English do not strike any bid deals with anyone (and a reason why England have not been awarded the World Cup since 1966).

The 2022 contest is between the United States, Japan, South Korea and

slim pickings indeed! but don't worry the world will blow up before that ever takes place

Well, today FIFA has announced an investigation into Spain/Portugal colluding with Qatar in relation to their respective bids. Lord Triesman was in the right ball park - shame the Daily Mail (the world's worst newspaper) had to hang him out to dry.

I think it will be, as Teru says, England 2018 & Down Under 2022. Although, contrary to XXXXX, any of USA, Korea & Japan would host a good world cup.

Two reasons the World Cup will go to the US in 2022:

1) Money.

The US still holds the record for most attended World Cup because of its mega-stadiums, all of which are already built (so no expense on building new stadiums) and no danger of being revenue-siphoning white elephants (all stadiums are already in use). More tickets and less expenses mean more profit for FIFA.

2) China

When China is hinting that they want to host the WC 2026, then the Asia confed (which includes Australia) cannot host it on 2022. FIFA wants to blow open revenues from the world's most populous nation.

Australia deserves it. Judging from from the way their nat'l team play Aussie fans wont tolerate all the girly diving and hissy fits that the Europeans (Brits included) and South Americans get up to. But I worry that a certain type of Aussie fan will take the moronic vuvuzela thing to the next level - - and we'll see locals blowing away on their didgeridoos for the duration of each match.

That is extremely unlikely to happen, as all forms of horn or trumpet are strictly prohibited within most stadiums in Australia.

You need special permission to get a trumpet in, and thousands of people wanting to bring a didge in is never going to happen. Plus it is a lot harder to get sound from a didge than it is from a vuvuzela.
