Agreed. I think some Nishikori fans needed to be doubly reassured it wasn't just Federer's superior skills. In any case, a lot of people have said that Nadal, Federer and Djokovic are ageing and falling to injury and hoping they'll retire soon so Nishikori might actually win one, but I have to say Nishikori doesn't sound like he's going to be able to hold it together much longer himself, with the amount we hear of his injuries. I hope they can all stick around and play.
On that note, I think Federer is indeed correct that the odd shake-up is good for the game, and sports in usual (save broadcasters and sponsors). While Federer is no new face to the finals with 17 wins under his belt, this tournament has given others a good chance to move forward, Zverev and Istoman.
