The analyst said Apple may offer some compensation to buyers or it may take a “hardball” approach by saying “you’re not supposed to abuse your phone or sit on your phone, you’re supposed to treat it like a piece of electronics.”

All Apple has to do is to say ithe phone is supposed to bend. The Apple I-diots will smile and nod sagely, and continue to slather praise on the emperor's new clothes.

Why people are always so jealous of Apple??

Have you ever watched one of the Apple keynote presentations? (I watch to filter out what new tech apple has on offer) the smug, gloating unabashed doctrine that flows during those things is nauseating. Schlller, Cook et al, all taking plays out the Jobs playbook. and it rubs off on the Apple acolytes . When such smugness comes back to bite the people who do it, other naturally like to jump on it. Its like the arrogant ringleader kid at school who gets their comeuppance, others are more likely to enjoy some schadenfreude when it happens. Not jealous perse just calling them out on their grandiose hype.

What? And, you think the Microsoft launches are any different? Do you remember the launch for the Zune? Of course not! Nobody does!

Couldn't happen to a nicer company.

It just works....... sometimes

That's why ya don't update right away - ya let other people try the bugs out first.

ONE bug?? iOS 8 is a crash fest !

7 ( +9 / -2 )

'Cause it's the one big bug that breaks the iPhone and turns it into a glorified iPod.

yep, my work ipad is constant irritation since the upgrade, the biggest problem was the cloud storage app "Box" after the upgrade my 15 gigs offline files were "poof" gone. Oh they were still in the cloud by no longer in offline storage on the ipad, took a long time to get them back as offline files.

Magazines in newsstand disappeared too. An education app I use regularly, lost functionality. Tapatalk keeps crashing. Some wifi passwords disappeared. It just works..sometimes.

I was excited to get swype keyboard but its not as good as the android version as Apple limit the resources that the app can use so functionality of swype has been curtailed by apple restrictions on the app. Its not swype's fault the app has been hamstrung. Shame really.

i hear that if you want the next generation curve phone, you just need to put the iphone 6 plus in your back pocket, lol, in a few minutes is curve.

From what I've read so far, most people are no longer experiencing problems with the iOS 8.0.2 update. Some of the problems still persisting are often from some apps causing issues with iOS 8.0.x versions itself.

Never had a problem with 5s & Ipad 2.

just calling them out on their grandiose hype.* thanks Carcharodon thats exactly the quote I was searching for.

Pfffft! Jealous? The company's business practices make Microsoft look like a Mother Theresa protege. "Draconian" doesn't begin to describe the tight-fisted hold Apple exerts on it's employees and customers. "Jealous" isn't the right word. "Wary" might be a better one. If they keep going the way they are, "wary" may change to "fearful".

I would say jealous and angered. Can't see people who buy Apple feeling bothered by other companies at all. On the other hand, take some comments in this very topic: people who say they hate Apple seems to be more aware of what's happening to iPhones than the the very owners of them, LOL. And they're in every article about Apple, but not in the ones about Android. I am a huge fan o Apple and its technology, but never minded to watch the keynote, let alone learning what's going on in another OS. On the other hand, there are guys here who say they hate Apple but are specialists in this field, more than Applemaniacs - all the while holding a Samsing, Windows on their hands. I think they suffer from paranoia. And I don't know if you know guys: paranaia makes you confuse love with, well, jealousy and anger. Go get a treatment, it will be good for you.

I thought the first thing people did after buying an iPhone was to purchase a rigid case to go with it and a good number of people will also buy a screen cover.

How about the make the darn thing more durable so it doesn't need the case and screen cover? For the money they get and considering it is a portable device that you should be able to put in your pocket, etc, it should be able to handle a lot more without cracking or breaking.

I haven't used a case or a cover in years. I prefer a smaller phone in my pocket.

My iPhone 6 seems pretty durable to me. I've had it in my pockets lots, and no warping so far. I'm thinking this is an extremely small group of people having this issue. I haven't talked to anyone who has had the problem themselves.

Consumer Reports has just released the results of a test on iPhones 6. Not surprisingly, the results dismiss the bendgate by saying that even under very strong forces, they didn't bend as shown in Youtube videos.. Quite the contrary, the iPhone 6 Plus is more resistant than the iPhone 6. The worst result goes to HTC 8 - which bent at a smaller force, but even so the force applied to make it bent is uttlerly unnatural, as reported by CR. The best result goes to Samsung Note. In other words, it's just a small group of mo**rons trying to find a reason to get some money out of Apple. Case dismissed.

I've several friends that have had some trouble with bending in iPhones 6 that they kept in their front pockets.

Then they would have had the same problem with other phones - the consumer reports show that the iPhone 6 holds up as well as, and in some cases better than, other current phones.

Fine. My original comment still stands. The companies know they are portable devices and and they are expensive devices. They should be strong enough that they can withstand being in pockets or being dropped a couple of times without the need to repair or replace them.

Well, it's clear that based on what you said and what tests reports are saying, that you and your friends are not apt to own a smartphone. Better stick with a dial phone, you know, that black model with a cord? This way you and your friend are not going to have it bent when you sit on it.

LostinNagoya,

I am not sure what your point is, beond the obvious sarcsasm, of course. The phones do break way too much and too easily especially considering they are portable devices and how much they cost. They are not supposed to be delicate porcelain to be admired from afar. Is it really to much to ask the companies to make phones that are sturdy enough that they do not need cases and screen protectors?

Whether it's too much to ask or not, the fact is that the iphone meets the same standard as the other major phones, and that standard is that you have to be at least someone careful with your phone, or it will break. Considering it's a computer that fits in your pocket, that's not entirely unreasonable.

As for you having friends that have had bending issues, Apple is saying only 9 cases have been reported of bending phones. You seem to have really hit the odds, having multiple friends out of those 9.

iphone screen break, I've never ever seen another makers screen broken, nearly everyone I know with an iphone has dropped and cracked their screen. Apple wants you to upgrade, why would they make a phone out of glass? Now an iphone made out of a soda can?
