It's the iphone 5 again. Good move from Apple, because there's a lot of people that can't or won't pay the price of an iphone 6.

I believe the original iPhone (edge network) was $400 up front, but then you had a 2yr commitment, but you got unlimited data for around $45 a month AT&T. No one offered unlimited data back then, but how much data could you get out of the edge network anyway, +no app store.
Not everyone wants the monster phone anymore, but people had to try it once. Lots of excellent new phones for under $400 now. Basically the iPhone has 3 sizes now instead of the old one-size-fits-all.

I am a big screen supporter. We do so many things now on our phones and pads that having a big screen makes things easier. That's especially true for people with arthritus and poor eyesight. However, Apple needs to make its products more affordable to be able to compete with the other tech giants out there.

What the naysayers don't take into account is the fact that it's not just the iPhone, it's the seamless way the iPhone, iPad and Apple hardware link together. My Calendar, Notes, Numbers, Pages, Mail, Messages, etc., all sync instantly across the devices that my wife and I use. Software update is brilliant and painless.

My Google/Android devices sync as well and smooth. Not knocking Apple but this things are done by Apps/Software which is pretty much NOT hardware dependent.
So regardless if the OS is Android, iOS or Windows most apps work on all three and the user experience hardly differs, IME & IMHO.

Apple, introducing the old iphone5 as a new iphone6 downsized lol.....
SenseNotSoCommon
I love the portability of the four inch, but am tempted to go for a 6S Plus so I can return the crap-on-a-stick Kindle Paperwhite to Amazon.
Rant over!

$750 for a phone? I would rather use a ¥10 coin, or a 25 cent quarter.
BertieWooster
shonanbb,
Sure you can phone someone with a ten yen coin, but only from a phone box. And they will not be able to reach you. Try doing an email or an SMS with a ten yen coin from a public phone box, organising your daily schedule, playing music, playing a game, performing calculations, finding directions in Japan where there are no street names or house numbers, accessing the data on your main computer at home or any of the myriad things a smart phone will do.
A smart phone is a small computer.
Forgive me for speaking directly, but comparing a smart phone to a public phone is nonsense.

What about a plug-in for large monitors?

Some serious ho-huming... Nothing new, nothing interesting.

LostinNagoya,
Good post.
Android is the smartphone version of Windows - an OS designed by a committee, complete with malware, pop up ads and complete incompatibility. Upgrades are often impossible.
The Apple A9 chip is FAST.
I played with one of the big iPads in a store the other day and apps open instantly. Instant wake up from sleep. Really nice hardware.
I'm sure the new iPhone will be good too because it also uses the A9 chip.
gogogo
BertieWooster: My fisher price smart phone has the latest chip and is FAST. Press a button and it instantly plays the song I want, unlike apple where I have to press 3-4 times and scroll... no thanks... No upgrades EVER, works if you drop it, eat it or run it over with a bike.... my phone of choice.

A 4k camera on a 4-inch display? That's like giving running shoes to a sumo wrestler...
badsey3
All new higher cell-phones are expected to take 4k video now. =There would be far more people complaining that it cannot take 4k video than those complaining that it can.
BertieWooster
yildiray,
I doubt that anyone who shoots a movie or parts of one will actually view it on his iPhone. It would be like watching a movie in the playback window of a video camera. He'll shoot it on his phone and then upload it to YouTube or a computer with a larger screen, burn it to DVD, whatever.
It's much easier to hold a small iPhone than an iPad or Phablet.

Apple is going back and forth now, not the same tunnel vision ideas Steve Jobs had; yet still the hype for the annual events has been dying down since Jobs died, becoming less of an event experience.
Not unless those could run full PC programs. Many people are actually switching to Surface Books since it's a combination of full PC programs Adobe Suite and Wacom stylus tablet in one.

Although it looks like a child's toy to me, if the iPad Pro really is the "ultimate replacement" for Windows that means nothing Apple produce in the future can be any better at replacing Windows.
Louis Amsel
they need to redesign of the look, i'm kinda tired of same design every iteration, so I'll keep using iphone 5s until it happens
ShinCebu
looks like i did a good job on keeping my iphone5. lol... my ip5 stil rocks..lol
Frederic Bastiat
Wow! I'm going to RUN OUT and buy one NOW!
NOT.
ShinCebu
as long as Apple doesnt force you to buy. then i think there is no need for us to say any negative comments... I am just thinking that the new iP SE is just a replacement of the iP5s. this is a good choice to those who are thinking of buying the iphone5s. :)
badsey3
The old iPhone 5s case will fit the new iPhone SE. =The phones are very similar and perhaps a good performance upgrade for iPhone 5s owners. It also means a 5s will have many more new SE cases/accessories to chose from. It is a winner either way you choose. Used iPhone 5s is $150-200. SE new is $400. Apple needed a cheaper quality (not 5c) iPhone and going back to the 5s form is smart economics.
