If Google's whole scanned books thing was a free service, I might agree somewhat. Being a writer, it's not something I'm in great favor of. Being a voracious reader, eh, kind of. But Google's making a profit from it. I would think that would violate the fair use act as well as their claim of providing a valuable 'service'.

Not to mention that as Google keeps information forever about what you use of its services they would now have information on your reading habits to sell as well.
