I'm looking forward to Nintendo Switch personally. Just because it isn't some kind of revolutionary technological breakthrough, doesn't mean it'll be bad. If the graphics are as good as the video showed, then it should have no trouble keeping up with its competitors. Besides which, you can take your game from the big screen on the move, then back to the big screen later on. How many consoles do that? You can play the Switch pretty much anywhere as long as the power holds out, and there it'll have the edge. All my handheld Nintendo consoles have far greater batter life than my smartphone for crying out loud.
I just hope Nintendo has learned from the mistakes of the past, and launch the console with games from some of its core franchises. If you've got Zelda, Mario and Pokemon at launch, you'll see a lot of people's wallets crying.

What would be the point of getting a new console to play the games you currently have on the console you already own? Better stay with your Wii U then rather than buying a new system.
The console looks quite promising. Play a game at home, continue playing it on the go, plus not just alone but with friends too. The mobile controllers look a bit uncomfortable, tho. As for online gaming on the go (if any), they have a few lessons to follow from Sony's handheld Vita.
And i really don't understand what people were expecting with a gaming console and a smartphone. That all depends on the developer of each game. Some games in the current gen consoles are already compatible with smartphones where you can switch weapons between your characters and other stuff on your phone while playing on the console.

I've never cared about backwards compatibility, as once I finish with a game, I rarely go back and play it again. I'm not a big gamer though, so I don't know how normal that is or isn't. But even when I was young and gamed a lot, I was always like that.
