What High End Viruses will they absorb like a fire storm?

Hahaha... they'll never make any inroads into what Apple has got in terms of clientele using their products for professional uses (databasing aside). This will be a major loss in ALL realities, mixed or not. And no doubt the day after release they'll have weeks and weeks of patches for all the viruses and holes, and heaps of complaints for making old files unusable so you have to buy the new, etc.

PCs tend to be used more for "professional uses" than Apple by a long shot. Every office I've worked in is jammed with PCs, with nary an Apple in sight.

What's more, Macs are in a bad situation these days, sales down over 10% and consumers growing weary over limitations like only a single port per machine.

People still thinking PCs are running Vista so they can make the same old virus jokes. God forbid a company other than apple try to corner the high end market for creative developers. Meanwhile Apple incrementally updates their stuff and people go nuts for them. Microsoft tries something different, people can't spit enough verbal diarrhoea at them.

Depends on the kind of professionals. Get into IT and/or design, and Apple by far has the market share.

In my office, given the so many problems we have with Windows, my boss is considering moving to another platoform.

If Microsoft really wanted to cut into Apples market they would have to make their PC's compatible to run Apples music programs. I say this because there are thousands of young kids out their using their Macs for making music for enjoyment or business. For every one person that sketches on a pc I am sure you can find 200 more who are making music on their Macs.

Dual boot and the Windows side will probably get booted up once in a year or so or ever.

The laptops on the international space station run Windows. Overall, very few Apples are used for real work, apart from a few of niche areas...and even in those the businesses finance and administration are done by Windows.. Apples are mostly found among college students and posers.

And again, anyone in design, or video production are using Macs. A huge number of people who do any unix server management (which is up to 80% of the servers in the world: http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-foundation-finds-enterprise-linux-growing-at-windows-expense/). Most software developers, with the exception of those doing windows software development, are also using Macs.

You call these niche areas - is design niche? You see it everywhere you go, on the trains, on TV, furniture. Is the internet niche? You're using it right now. Is video niche? You watch TV don't you? You see vids on the internet don't you?

    Hardly niche.
