I get where Marini is coming from, but at the end of the day, this is still a game. It isn't real. Trying to impose reality on video games could lead to dissociative disorders. You should never take a game to seriously, even dating simulations.

He noted Wednesday in response to Nintendo’s statement that excluding same-sex relationships in the game is a form of “social commentary.”

Thank you!

@Fox Marini isn't "trying to impose reality". The game itself purports to represent “Your friends. Your drama. Your life.” It's literally the selling point of the game.

Come on Nintendo... should be pretty obvious now that you have to be open and fair to the LGBT community. I am quite sure this was discussed during the development.

Marini should spend more time with his real-life fiance in real-life rather than worrying so much about some throw-away Nintendo game.

Boo to Nintendo for being closed minded and all. But, I just went and looked up Tye Marini, and all I can say is that I am glad that he won't be breeding. At least in the real world. Whew.

Nintendo are based in Kyoto not Osaka.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come up.

Nintendo has since apologized for not considering the segment of fans who are affected, but said it's not something they can fix with a patch. They'll tackle it in the next version, if there is one.

It's a video game. Movies don't make characters based on your sexual preferences either. Get over it. This gender equality stuff has well and truly spiralled out of context. And I'll punch out the next idiot who tries to compare it to race equality.
