'Adjusting production volumes' !! If they think people can't understand that they just mean, 'Halting production indefinitely because we have no idea what's going on', they are wrong.

Until they DO understand that people are on to them their phones will not sell, simple as that.

I had the Note2,3,4,5 and honestly these phones didnt last more than a year and a half. I switched to another brand and I'm impressed that There're good brands available, its not all about Samsung anymore.

Now is Sony's chance, they must strike now!

"Analysts have suggested that Samsung, battling ever-fiercer competition in the saturated smartphone market, may have rushed production of the Note 7 with bitter rival Apple’s recently released iPhone 7 in mind."

I and others said this when they rushed to release it. Now Samsung is clearly regretting it and paying the price for not taking time and ensuring safety.

So will these millions of people get their contracts cancelled without a penalty? That is the biggest issue. 2 year contracts suck.

I do not think they make phone or any product last long anymore. If they last too long, how are they going to make money? Batteries, batteries, all I could think of is those 3rd grade Li batteries from China.

What worries me is that there are rumours that Samsung is already rushing a Note 8, based on rumours of what iPhone 8 could look like. While Apple takes 2-3 years from prototypes to the actual model being launched, Samsung "makes" a model in only 8 months. iPhone 8 is said to come with a entire glass body, and there are rumours of Samsung rushing to find a company that can supply glass for their version. Disgusting.

It seems only time of the matter that S Korea goes bankrupt and Japan will not help. Samsung is too big part of GDP.

^ Samsung does not make phone alone. It also manufactures many other things such as washing machines.....Their company profile is quite diverse comparing to Apple. If Apple has problem like this, it will take a very major toll on it. For Samsung, it is damaging but not a big threat to its existence.

Cliffy: Samsung does not make phone alone. It also manufactures many other things such as washing machines

Samsung's washing machines are exploding. I've got one and it rocks like hell when it's on spin cycle. There's photos on the net of people with burns. Been in the news over the last couple of weeks. No recall yet but there's a class-action lawsuit.

Man, this really sucks. I was looking forward to getting one. I love my note 4 cause of the S pen and the new features looked great. But this rushing to beat Apple has cost them. Hopefully (for me at least) Japan won't reject their future phones.

Boarded a flight the other day after being through two security checks - removing belt and shoes, only to be told by the pilot on the plane, "Please turn your Samsung phone off, as they may cause fires and are a hazard."

turbotsat

Out of curiosity, what is exploding within the washing machines since I do not know of any components within it that could explode.

Samsung must have went out of their way to make a mundane household appliance more "Exciting"!!!! LoL

This is great news for the consumer and Samsung alike. Why? Because their next flagship product will have to have a lower price point and more features to regain market share. If they get it right it, and I am sure they will, it could finally propel Samsung far ahead of Apple.
