Samsung should just send out an update that deactivates the phone.

Personally, I think they should just scrap the note 7 and immediately go to build a better and safer 8. No one is going to buy the 7 now. They can't even get on a plane with it. Its dead in the water.

From anecdotal experience, people travelling internationally that have their phones stranded are being left swinging in the breeze by Samsung. Samsung office in the country they're traveling in pointing finger at Samsung office in their home country and vice-versa.

This article seems to use 'lithium' and 'lithium-ion' interchangeably, when they are in fact different batteries.

Lithium batteries are primary, non-rechargeable. Whereas li-ion are secondary, rechargeable batteries, which is what is in question here.
