I'm glad to have seen this article - no way I'm sharing my phone number with Facebook.

I can't figure out how to disable this though - the option doesn't exist on the app on my iPhone.

I don't even use Whatsapp for the most part, except to communicate with a few American clients when they are in Japan, so if I can't figure out how to disable it I'm just going to cancel my account.

Do not deface your business.

@Strangerland, I found the option in Settings Privacy. There is new terms of conditions that has an option to turn off Facebook sharing. Hope this helps

Probably too late....

Strangerland, you do not have to install the Facebook and all it implies. You can view Facebook in your browser.

I'm unsure what you are talking about. I don't want Whatsapp to share my phone number with Facebook. I don't understand what that has to do with installing Facebook itself.

Thanks - it wasn't there for me. I must need to wait for an update or something.

Don't use FB. There are other 'agencies' who'd love easy access to anything that might connect you (potential for final) to a crime.

@ Strangerland You've already been shared mate....

At the same time, Facebook has pledged not to interfere with a longstanding promise by WhatsApp’s co-founders to respect users’ privacy and keep ads off its messaging platform.

Un-install What's app NOW! I am.

No they won't, I don't even have a phone, much less the app "What'sApp"

I guess this is What'sApp. I don't really care if they share my number. They can advertise away but it doesn't mean I'm going to buy anything. Hardly ever look at them anyway.

We have all been shared already. I get tons of "do you knoews" on Facebook who are people I communicayte with thru Whatsapp.........

No to whatsapp, and only post fake stuff to fakebook.

So, on top of some bot that sends out spam text messages, we will now have the genuine FB sending out spam messages.

Mine updated this evening and I swiftly unchecked the box to share. I'd delete whatsapp all together but this is the family's choice for texting. If you miss the chance when updating you have thirty days to go into your settings and change your preference to not share.
