Following its time-honored Yuletide tradition, the 122 year old Imperial Hotel in Tokyo will once again be offering for the enjoyment of its guests and the general public several festive performances of Christmas carols and seasonal music this month to Christmas Eve. The general public is invited to attend and to join in.
A performance will be held on Sunday Dec 23 in the hotel’s Main Lobby, from 3 p.m. and again from 4:30 p.m. Both will feature the Tokyo FM Boys Choir of young sopranos. On Monday Dec 24, Christmas Eve, the annual performance of The Imperial’s popular concerts of carols and Yuletide classics will start at 4 p.m. next to the Wall of Light in The Imperial’s Main Lobby. A second show begins in the same location at 6 p.m. Both performances will feature the spirited sonorous voices of some 80 young men from the Waseda University Glee Club and the Keio University Wagner Society, chorus
groups from two leading and rival Tokyo universities.
This year’s performances include many traditional Christmas carol favorites and each lasts some 30 minutes. The concerts are free of charge.
A variety of special Christmas dinners will be served on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at several of the hotel’s restaurants, and the Gargantua food shop on the Lobby Floor of the Main Building will be offering an elegant and diverse selection of seasonal specialties for dining at home, including turkeys, canapes, luscious buche de noel and other festive Christmas cakes.
The hotel also offers numerous special Christmas and New Year season accommodation packages. For reservations or further details, call 03-3504-1111.
