The changing classifications will help political bodies go after Clinton. They can say she had classified info on them and leave out the part where they were not classified at the time.

Cue the Rep feeding frenzy...

SenseNotSoCommon: "Cue the Rep feeding frenzy..."

Despite their own internal investigations turning up nothing FIVE TIMES already and them admitting she has done nothing wrong, they need SOMETHING to try and deflect from the circus that the GOP nomination has become and the fact that they cannot pass anything in the House or Senate (suddenly they don't seem to like filibustering as much!).

2 ( +4 / -2 )

"She remains the frontrunner to be named the 2016 Democratic contender for the White House, but pollsters say the email scandal has dented public trust in her."

Dammit, Hillary, you are increasing the chances of Donald Trump becoming the next president!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

whatever my politics, I find this whole thing reprehensible and demonstrative of her sense of entitlement and invulnerability. She is a hypocrite in so many ways and this is just a concrete example of her thinking rules don't apply to her. the fact that she remains democratic front runner is a disgrace in so many ways.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

She's pretty much toast.

Sorry, that dumb excuse just will not fly. Doesn't matter what she says. Oh, and by the way, don't think this is some conspirators trying to get one over Hillary. Remember, Obama hates Hillary as much as the GOP does, even more perhaps. Who do you think the DOJ works for? Definitely not the GOP, the prosecutor appointed, it's all coming from the Obama admin. all of it, not the mention the FBI is also involved and they don't work for the GOP either. You Dems want a bogeyman so bad and that it's NOT the GOP inquiring into Hillary's mails is just asinine for you all. I don't feel sorry for her one bit, deserves her right. The woman thinks she's so smart and the funny thing is, she just doesn't have Bill's charisma or talent to dance out of a compromising situation.

I'm going to save this to quote when she becomes president next year.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I'm going to save this to quote when she becomes president next year.

Yeah, you do that. I hope your predictions are as accurate as last November when you said the Dems would retain the Senate....Ok, maybe you were right, but your timing was off. ROFL

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Mark Toner should print off all of the suspect mails and show them to the public. Better still, Tweet them all out.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I hope your predictions are as accurate as last November when you said the Dems would retain the Senate...

I never said that. In fact, I said the Republicans would win, and I was right.

So it's funny that you would hope my predictions are as accurate, you basically just hoped Hillary would become president!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Conservative and liberals should all be able to agree on this one point: If anyone else had bought their own computer, put it on the State Departments unclassified network, produced classified material on that computer and then transmitted it over the unclassified network, that would add up to a whole heaping of trouble in the form of a felony.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Didn't we all predict a GOP win last year? Some of us were talking about things like higher GOP voter turnout, more Dem seats up for grab, stats from FiveThirtyEight. Others brushed all of that aside and said it was evidence of a GOP mandate to run the country despite having approval ratings that were a fraction of Obama's.

But in the end, we all agreed on a GOP win.

As for this issue.... The only way the GOP can win the White House is to come back more to the center. It's something made clear by the GOP after losing the last election. They have not done that and they don't have the base to win the presidency. That means their biggest hope is a Dem implosion or....wait for it.....a scandal. Could this be the answer to their prayers to baby Jesus? Probably not. And a Trump certainly isn't helping by being their leading candidate.

But it's going to be a fun election season, that's for sure. We're going to see Hillary answering questions while the GOP is trying to shut down the government over abortion. Maybe some GOP moderate can step forward along with an exciting Democratic candidate and push all of the distractions aside.

Not being LABELED as CLASSIFIED, since they contained information that would be deemed CLASSIFIED is itself a serious security violation. As SOS, she has no excuse at all.

You don't set up your own personal email server from day one unless it's your intention to do something dodgy. Like sell out your position for cash and political favours. And then frantically wipe the servers so any investigating body has nothing for evidence. She's taken millions from Tata and Infosys, 2 of America's biggest H1-B visa mills and talks about Americans needing better employment.

She's taken millions from Saudi despots who behead women for sorcery.. and then spouts on about wmoen's rights.

Millions received from Likud racists to ensure more attacks on Arab nations.. while she talks about a more respected America internationally.

Schmoozes with Goldman Sachs for ginormous speaking fees.. and mumbles about the working stiff needing a fair break.

If you vote for her you'll get the owners you deserve.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

hidflect I totally agree on all your points add - bleats on about global warming while taking private jet for a 30 MINUTE flight talks about honesty and integrity and look at this. shameful what she and many others like her get away with.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It is absolutely a shame that the Democratic Party cannot do better than to have Hillary Clinton as the de facto nominee for president. There is too much about her past that makes her untrustworthy. Not to mention her coziness with Wall Street bigwigs and establishment movers and shakers. And not to mention that she is, above and beyond any other factor, a candidate because she is married to an immensely talented and influential former president. That is not to say that she is unqualified as a potential contender. She is obviously bright and has a record of accomplishment in political and diplomatic spheres, whether one agrees or disagrees with those achievements. But there are plenty of bright and talented people who could fill the position.

Ut is also true that (as I have stated more often) the Republican Party cannot do better than all of the numerous candidates it has produced.

I am deeply disappointed that American politics has come to this. A game of fakery, really, where crucial issues are obfuscated by the interests of large corporations, lobbies, media showmanship, and the expectations of popular culture.

I will not vote for any of the Republican candidates, but I will also not vote for Clinton. It goes against my conscience.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Scandal! If she'd only followed the example of her Republican predecessor, Colin Powell, she would have - wait, what? He used a private email address for much of his communication?

Okay, but what about setting up your own server! That's gotta be bad, and something what the GOP establishment is peeing-in-their-pants hoping will be their nominee Jeb would never dream to have done - wait, what? He conducted the majority of his governorship business over his own server?

Okay, but what about the clean wiping thing. Ah - the previous two also did the same, you say?

But wait, not only are Powell and Bush both Republicans, they're both also not a Clinton! - who are, of course, judged by very different standards.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

You don't set up your own personal email server from day one unless it's your intention to do something dodgy.

We use our own personal email servers in our company, so as to not have our mail passing through a 3rd party's server where it could theoretically be intercepted. It's not a matter of wanting to do something dodgy, it's a matter of privacy and security.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Hillary is done, she has been for months now. She could never hold up in a sharp debate.

Who the den nominee will be.....Biden is stirring the pot and Sanders is rising but his views would put the nail in the coffin for USA if he were elected.

Trump is fading, his flash in the pan is ending. BC4DC2016!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I just love the smell of right wing lunacy in the morning. Nothing on this earth smells like it...

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

MarkG: Hillary is done, she has been for months now.

So the GOP bubble is saying that Hillary and Trump, both leading by wide margins, should pretty much be ignored at this point because they are both "done." Reality says something different, but the bubble wasn't invented for honesty's sake.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I never said that. In fact, I said the Republicans would win, and I was right.

I really don't think so. You kept trumpeting about how they were going to lose.

So it's funny that you would hope my predictions are as accurate, you basically just hoped Hillary would become president!

Nice spin, but alas, not a chance! The last thing I would never do is vote for that woman, it's bad enough we have a Tyrant we have holding the White Gouse hostage. But I'll say this, Strange...if Hillary can muster a crowd the size of what Trump gets, I'll throw you an apology.

Conservative and liberals should all be able to agree on this one point: If anyone else had bought their own computer, put it on the State Departments unclassified network, produced classified material on that computer and then transmitted it over the unclassified network, that would add up to a whole heaping of trouble in the form of a felony.

Not only that, but if it's a conservative, they'd be hung, drawn and quartered. We all know that Conservatives can't get away with things liberals get away with.

Uh, huh...riiiight.

As for this issue.... The only way the GOP can win the White House is to come back more to the center. It's something made clear by the GOP after losing the last election. They have not done that and they don't have the base to win the presidency.

Dunno about that, Dr. Carson is gaining on Trump as wel as Carly Fiorino.

That means their biggest hope is a Dem implosion or....wait for it.....a scandal. Could this be the answer to their prayers to baby Jesus? Probably not. And a Trump certainly isn't helping by being their leading candidate.

And Bernie and Joe isn't helping the Dems either. That's why the Dems are equally as nervous, because of Hillary's.....smartness, she put herself ia very bad position that is worsening day by day.

But it's going to be a fun election season, that's for sure.

I think so too.

We're going to see Hillary answering questions while the GOP is trying to shut down the government over abortion. Maybe some GOP moderate can step forward along with an exciting Democratic candidate and push all of the distractions aside.

No, we are going to see Hillary squirm like a worm on a hook trying to give 1000 excuses of how she didn't do anything wrong, Obama threw her under the bus, she's become more of a liability than ever for the Dems. She doesn't have the smarts, savvy or Charisma like Bill to crawl her way out of this. Like I said, she's not only toast, she's burnt, done.

But there are plenty of bright and talented people who could fill the position.

For example?

Ut is also true that (as I have stated more often) the Republican Party cannot do better than all of the numerous candidates it has produced.

What's an "Ut." Dunno about that, whatever you say or feel about the GOP there is a lot of enthusiasm in the party and a lot of voters are listening to them, going to their rally's on the Dems side, cuts very quiet, with the exception of Bernie who is drawing substantial crowds, the Dems have a huge problem.

I am deeply disappointed that American politics has come to this. A game of fakery, really, where crucial issues are obfuscated by the interests of large corporations, lobbies, media showmanship, and the expectations of popular culture.

You and me both! That's why I have a problem with both parties and that's why people like Trump, Carson, Fiorino and to a lesser extent, although socialist for the left Bernie is way out of the traditional politician clan.

I will not vote for any of the Republican candidates, but I will also not vote for Clinton. It goes against my conscience.

I will vote for whoever the GOP nominates good or not especially this time around because 8 years (soon to be) of this wretched nightmare and Democrats was way more than any decent human and American should have to deal with.

We use our own personal email servers in our company, so as to not have our mail passing through a 3rd party's server where it could theoretically be intercepted. It's not a matter of wanting to do something dodgy, it's a matter of privacy and security.

Oh, please don't let anyone hear you say that! Especially the FBI and lawyers. You'd be laughed right out of the room. I'm cracking up and I'm not even a lawyer. No one will believe that. Hillary can dig that hole deeper if she wants. But if I were her, just come clean squirming is not going to help her, in fact, it just makes her look more desperate as well as ridiculous.

Non-issue, and Hillary will win because the Republicans have mostly crazy people running for office.

Tell that to the DOJ and FBI. Hey! Good luck with that! ROFL

Trump will probably offer to sell Hillary's e-mail to the highest bidder in return for your support.

What the....ROFL

I hope she makes it to debates! She will fail miserably. Pressure and Hillary don't mix well. It would be very entertaining. Even more so if it were republican-democrat debates. The right 'loon' as some of you claim would have her in tears or having a temper tantrum.

Actually, one thing I can say with a degree of certainty, Hillary is severely wounded, but make NO mistake, she's No dummy and if it's her debating skills over Trump's, I have to say, Trump does have a bit of a problem, as much as I can't stand the woman, she can, at least up until now, talk her way out of a lynching. The only thing that is giving the GOP a huge advantage point is this scandal, it was never a sure win or a coronation, but it was still a tough one for the GOP in most cases at least a close race to the finish line, but as to what's going on right now with these mails, she is in serious, serious trouble. Obama endorsing Biden is close to the final nail in the coffin for her. There is no love loss between Obama and Hillary and her downfall wouldn't be something Obama would lose sleep over. Also, there is less enthusiasm on the Democratic side, the Dems are in the same spot as the GOP was in 2008 and the climate for serious change is high and very real. Trump, Carson and Fiorino are making huge gains and the people are tired of these career politicians and of the Washington establishment. The people have had enough of the last 7 years and we still have 433 days left until Obama is finally gone for good.

"Clinton sent or received a total of 62,320 emails during her term as secretary between 2009 and 2013." - "150 . . . of the emails have been retroactively deemed classified" - article

Wow, Madame Clinton was like a real life Mata Hari!

150 of 62,320 emails were retroactively deemed classified! Makes Snowden look like a girl scout.

Thanks to the GOP-Tea! They caught her red handed going back in time, sending unclassified documents only be caught three years later in a GOP-Tea sting operation that found her guilty of breaking the law three years before the illegality, now that's GOP-Tea efficiency.

How much do Conservatives spend to get their man or woman? (AWOL spent Three Trillion and didn't, that we know.)

Imagine what this could mean! Madame Clinton has the power of time travel! That would be a pretty good Presidential power. Might be helpful. (AWOL wished he had one, a super power, unless his super power is invisibility, that one he has mastered.)

Thanks to the GOP-Tea!

Probably Thank Obama, Loretta Lynch and the entire DOJ and the FBI for NOT dropping the ball on this.

They caught her red handed going back in time, sending unclassified documents only be caught three years later in a GOP-Tea sting operation that found her guilty of breaking the law three years before the illegality, now that's GOP-Tea efficiency.

And the Democrats wouldn't make stink of this if the shoe were on the other foot?

How much do Conservatives spend to get their man or woman? (AWOL spent Three Trillion and didn't, that we know.)

How much did Dems spend on the Obamacare website?

Imagine what this could mean! Madame Clinton has the power of time travel! That would be a pretty good Presidential power. Might be helpful. (AWOL wished he had one, a super power, unless his super power is invisibility, that one he has mastered.)

Miss Pants suits has only her greedy self to thank for this fallout. Good luck trying to get out of that well.

Then It is a very good thing you don't work for the State Department where it is a felony to leave without turning over all government documents, a felony to to destroy even one message to prevent it from being subpoenaed, a felony to willfully and unlawfully remove or destroy records. If she did not print every copy out and hand them over, she was in violation of clear cut procedures that were in place in October of 1995. Not to mention she was TWO YEARS LATE and only coughed up the information because she was caught. Otherwise, her entire emails, texts, tweets, etc. - OFFICIAL correspondence during her tenure as SEC-STATE would have disappeared into oblivion!

Secure channels is yet another topic. If it can ever be proven that Hillary misused national defense information to injure the United States or benefit a foreign power she is looking at at least a decade in jail.

Give the man credit - he did manage to destroy a sovereign nation with that money. He also gave the Republicans talking point to blame Obama for blowing up the deficit, when the bills for that war came in after Bush left office.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Give the man credit - he did manage to destroy a sovereign nation with that money.

So I guess the sectarian violence was a myth?? Huh, and all those years seeing the fighting between the Sunni and Shia, it just never happened, it was Bush. Yeah, like Clinton and Monica never happened....Riiiight.

He also gave the Republicans talking point to blame Obama for blowing up the deficit, when the bills for that war came in after Bush left office.

We don't have a surplus, budget, but we do have a growing homeless and welfare class sprouting out and growing as a result over the last 51 months, 45 million and growing. Yeah, Obama did do a good job with that, but I keep forgetting, he doesn't have to run and the people get stuck with the bill. Once again, the Sainted anointed one cares ONLY about himself.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

So I guess the sectarian violence was a myth??

The US has some internal strife as well. Should other nations invade the US to fix these problems?

Of course not. It's the US' problem.

And this wasn't the reason given for invading the country anyways. Little Bush wanted to invade, so when the weapons inspectors weren't finding the WMDs, he insisted that they were hiding them, and invaded based on this lie. It was never about removing Saddam for the good of the Iraqis. And in the end. The US is probably responsible for the deaths of more Iraqis than Saddam ever was (though I haven't actually checked this fact, so I could be wrong).

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The US has some internal strife as well. Should other nations invade the US to fix these problems?

But you don't see Catholics and Protestants trying to divide Boston and New York up, chop peoples heads off and declare a caliphate.

Of course not. It's the US' problem.

Different set of complete circumstances, one of them removing a Tyrant that needed to be removed that the world is better without.

And this wasn't the reason given for invading the country anyways. Little Bush wanted to invade, so when the weapons inspectors weren't finding the WMDs, he insisted that they were hiding them, and invaded based on this lie.

So based on the intel, why are you NOT blaming the Brits, France, Israelis and the rest of the international intel community??

It was never about removing Saddam for the good of the Iraqis.

As long as they removed Saddam, that was good enough.

And in the end. The US is probably responsible for the deaths of more Iraqis than Saddam ever was (though I haven't actually checked this fact, so I could be wrong).

Somehow, I don't think it will be the case.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

So based on the intel, why are you NOT blaming the Brits, France, Israelis and the rest of the international intel community??

US intel.

As long as they removed Saddam, that was good enough.

So why hasn't the US removed Kim? And Putin? And Assad? And all the other dictators?

Somehow, I don't think it will be the case.

You really think Saddam killed more than 500,000 of his people?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

US intel.

It wasn't ONLY the US intel, it was more broad based.

So why hasn't the US removed Kim? And Putin? And Assad? And all the other dictators?

I always thought they should remove both of them, but I'll say this, once Iran has acquired nukes, then it'll be hard to remove the Mullahs for sure.

You really think Saddam killed more than 500,000 of his people?

From what Amnesty international, historians and exiled Iraqis, seems to have been the case.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

It wasn't ONLY the US intel, it was more broad based.

Nope. US only.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Of course not, Strange.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/library/news/iraq/1998/981217-france.htm

That is not how the intelligence community works. Both the US, UK along with French, Israel and Egyptian even Russia intelligence all came to the same conclusion at the time.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Lizz: she was in violation of clear cut procedures that were in place in October of 1995
