But Sunni militants linked to the al-Qaida franchise in Iraq often target the Shiite majority in a bid to erode confidence in the central government and push the country back towards the bloody sectarian conflict of 2006-2007. If there is a GOD, what would this GOD say about this kind of violence?? My guess he/she would say let all these terrorists burn in hell for killing so many innocent HUMANS!

Sectarian violence is worse than jihadist attackes on us infidels. 2 articles on JT alone about bombing of Shia. and how much more probably gone unreported. Maybe time for us to give up the war on terror and let Islam sort itself out?

Lucky the US invaded. It would have been so much worse under Saddam. I'm sure once the Americans pull out peace, love and democracy will grow. Just like it has in Afghanistan.
And Libya.
And Egypt.
And Tunisia.
And soon in Syria.
Why is it that some countries need something other than democracy to make them function?

Simon agree This also happens in Pakistan and Lebanon and would happen in Qatar and so on if democracy breaks out there too.

Democracy is a very long, and very difficult process. The "revolution" that brings it about is the easy part. Changing the government system and getting the people on board is entirely different and can take decades. During that time you have to hope that you don't revert back to your old ways.

Uhm, the Americans pulled out in December 2011?
I opposed the war but no one can deny that the Americans did their best to make the situation right, despite creating the situation.
10 years on next month - it is time the Iraqi's got their stuff together now, blaming the US at this point is a cop-out.
