Disney should have some drag net system of eliminating these large amphibians from invading areas that naïve customers spend time. I lived in Florida for several years and you do not, I repeat do not go into any body of water that is fresh or brackish not even to water ski. There are also non native species like crocodiles, snakes and even piranha living in the waters of Florida. Florida should have a round up season and whoever turns in the biggest catches gets a whole lot of $$ and that will get rid of these dangerous animals. Alligators are native but companies like Disney can protect their customers from these predators.

MY HEART BREAKS FOR THIS ONE! My family are also flying to Disney world in few weeks and I can't imagine the pain for these parents and the father even wrestled with the gator. I do not blame the parents on this one this unfortunate event is tragic enough.

Agree with the above commentators. As a new dad of an 8 month old boy, I cannot even begin, nor wish, to imagine their pain.

The story is so sad. Just playing in the water never suspecting a thing.
Disney did not have warning signs to educate the naive. In USA gator attacks are rare. In other parts of the world crock attacks happen just like this. The snatch someone even on the bank occasionally. Crocodiles are close real actives to alligators.

Wake Up Call: Time to do some " Research ". " Walt Disney World " was built on SWAMPLand. In FACT; you are dead center IN Gator Country on Disney Property. This is Florida.

Florida is the gator attack capital of the US, and the incidence of attack has jumped in the past two decades. Though still rare.
Florida's population is growing and growing, and the gator's habitat is more and more being encroached on.
That the boy's body was found intact shows the gator 1) doen't want to eat people, and so 2) mistook the child for a prey animal.
We need to work harder to live with these fantastic -- and delicious btw -- animals.

Florida has the highest gator population. Alligators have increased tremendesly in numbers in the past two decades and are no longer considered endangered. And of course incidence occurs more frequent with a higher gator population.
I will agree BS above on his, humans need to adapt and coexist with indigenous animals. We humans are skyrocketing in population leaven smaller an smaller natural habitats. We must share as the human population trend continues. We must preserve all other species.
