China says wants peace

“The conqueror is always a lover of peace; he would prefer to take over our country unopposed.” ― Carl von Clausewitz,

“China will work with ASEAN countries to safeguard the peace and stability of the South China Sea,” he told a news briefing, referring to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

And by "work with" they mean they will distribute copies of China's decisions to other nations.

Pretty disturbing that a country as economically and militarily powerful as China actually thinks this way in the 21st century.

Dai Bingguo, Beijing’s former state councillor, said there was an “urgent priority” to stop the case.

We will see over the next week if new Philippine president Duterte is really as corruption-free as he claims. You can bet the Chinese are offering him huge sums of cash to drop the case before the ruling is issued. Can he resist? If he pulls the case we will know that he has been paid off and is as crooked as all the other Philippine presidents.

Wow, the world really is simmering nicely isn't it? Will this be our last year as the dominant species?

That is Chinese rhetoric, but "action" always speaks louder and affect us more than words.

China has yet to really "prove" what they say is what they really mean will adhere to.

So therefore, so far, 99% of what China says, I take with a huge spoonful of salt and yet cannot swallow.

"All we want is piece! A piece of Viet Nam, a piece of Japan, a piece of the Phillipines. Piece is all we want!"

“As for the relevant dispute, China does not accept any decision imposed by a third party as a means of resolution, nor any solution plan that is forced upon China.”

Now drop the rhetoric China and show some proof of sincere commitment to peace and stability. Reject decisions by third parties and you will always be a rogue outsider as judged by the international community for your asocial and aggressive behavior the latter of which is bound to bite you in the ass sooner or later.

“Washington has deployed two carrier battle groups around the South China Sea, and it wants to send a signal by flexing its muscles: As the biggest powerhouse in the region, it awaits China’s obedience,” the Global Times said.

Not obedience that the world wants. It's compliance. China is ratcheting up the rhetoric on their end as soon as they decided to take steps outside their internationally recognized ADIZ and started making one up on their own.

“China hopes disputes can be resolved by talks, but it must be prepared for any military confrontation. This is common sense in international relations.”

Meanwhile, America outspends China on the military by 5 or 6 times, spends as much as the entire world combined in fact, conducts live fire exercises in the seas around China with China's rivals, South Korea, Vietnam and Japan. When was the last time you heard of China teaming up for live fire exercises with Latin American countries in seas near the United States? You think America would sit on its hands in such a situation? I think the response would be ten times China's.

Maybe folks should pay less attention to who is late for the party and recognize whose party this really is?

Quote: "Dai Bingguo, Beijing’s former state councillor, dismissed the court ruling as “nothing more than a piece of paper,” but said there was an “urgent priority” to stop the case."

OK, the court ruling has not actually taken place yet, but even if the vote goes China's way, it's still a worthless scrap of paper, right?
