FBI review involves thousands of newly discovered Clinton emails

How many people committing a screw up of this magnitude on Friday, still have a job on Monday?

How can someone make a complete mockery of the FBI and the Justice Department, allow classified material to be hacked on an unprotected private server in order to hide emails and still be allowed to run for president?

In the week before an election, we're now going to get daily 'updates' in investigation about nothing.

I guess this is good for the kids out there, who will now understand what the following two words mean:

Regardless the outcome of the election, Hillary will be under investigation and in spite of allegedly unlawful cover up by executive power branches....the outcome will be nasty as HRC. Obama's pardon before conviction? HRC pardons herself? HRC got impeached as her husband that make two impeached amigos in the white house?....These epeculations truly make America looks like a "banana republic", and all credited to the corrupted & greedy machine of The Clintons.

Watergate was nothing compared to what has been done by members of both political parties over the past couple of decades. Each party, however, wants to excuse "their guy/their gal".

The Watergate investigation and follow up was a true bipartisan effort - this is something we see from neither political party these days.

I would really like to see the introduction of a viable 3rd Party into the U.S. political system, however I do not believe the 2 parties in power would allow this to happen. This is one case where they would work in a bi-partisan effort to obstruct a meaningful 3rd Party from coming into existence.

It was not immediately clear exactly how many emails have been recovered or what significance, if any, they might have.

Sigh. An unknown number of emails with unknown contents... is there any classified info here? Who knows?! Have any laws been broken? No idea!

And yet, with absolutely no idea if there is anything incriminating here at all, the FBI sees fit to break its policy on not commenting on ongoing investigations by announcing that - a week before the election - that that, well, they are investigating something which may or may not turn out to be absolutely nothing at all. (We won't find out until after the election!)

Awesome.

This is, of course, the biggest scandal since Watergate - bigger, even - because we all have such great sense of proportionality. But, hey, this is Crooked Hillary we are talking about here, so she must be guilty of something.... right? I'm sure that smoking gun is just around the corner.

The FBI is always investigating politicians, it is one of the few organizations which is more or less immune to the bribes and threats which other agencies must endure. There are no less than 5 separate FBI field offices investigating Hillary, and her husband's foundation. Amazing how the Clintons can become worth hundreds of millions of dollars without investing in the stock market, dealing in real estate, or providing any real goods or services. It appears that they "earn" their money by peddling their influence, at more than a little cost to the taxpayers.

If the FBI had anything on Trump, the would have aired it by now, and they won't hesitate to air it in the case he wins the election. And Hilary looks like she faces the renewed possibility of indictment even if she wins. The FBI would not reopen the case without reasonable cause, especially if Hillary had as good a chance of winning as she has.

Once again, it is too bad for Bernie that he didn't win the nomination. Loony liberal as he was, he had far less skeletons in his closet than Hillary.

If the FBI had anything on Trump, the would have aired it by now, and they won't hesitate to air it in the case he wins the election.

Apparently they sat on this Clinton email story for weeks so I wouldn't rush to conclusions like that.

The FBI wouldnt break with precedent unless they had some unignorable violations of the law. I think even the die hard hillary fans know this, hence the desperation with which they are reacting. Hillary, whether she wins or loses the election, is done.

With all the baggage shes carrying she should never have run. She should at least have pulled out months ago and spared the US the trauma shes going to put it through. An alternative candidate would most probably be way ahead of trump in the polls right now. But its not in hillarys nature to serve the greater good. she serves only her own ambition.

The FBI doesn't know much more about the new data than what we know - they only just got started with these recently.

It may come to something; it may come to nothing - nobody knows yet for some time to come.

What's debatable is whether an announcement about this --especially without much information-- so close to a contentious election is the prudent thing to do. It's been long-standing policy for the FBI to remain apolitical by not putting itself in the middle of an election one way or another, unless they already have something concrete to present.

So it's kinda ironic that FBI Director Comey is arguably violating his office's long-standing policy as he investigates Hillary's violating her office's long-standing policy.

I think it’s interesting to note the Administration’s reaction to the FBI’s announcement that it was reopening the investigation.

Amid wide spread condemnation of Comey from prominent Democrats the White House announced, in a daily press briefing, that President Obama  “continues to have confidence in his (Comey’s) ability to do his job,” and that the President  “doesn’t believe Director Comey is trying to influence the outcome of an election,” 

In the statement Director Comey was praised as “a man of integrity and character and principle,” and  “somebody who’s had a distinguished legal career that was rooted (in the fact) that his political views don’t interfere with his responsibilities as an attorney or a law enforcement officer.”

So as things settle a little it appears that the Obama Administration has come down squarely on the side of the FBI and especially Director Comey. I wonder what that portends. Could this be a “writing on the wall” moment? It might be interesting to see if the “sinking ship” analogy comes into play.

You don't have to think Comey was trying to influence the election. The fact is he did, and he did something that's typically not done. Looking back, he also offered up his own investigation for Republicans to scrutinize, something else that isn't typically done.

I think he's playing "cover my ass" to an extreme and everything else is secondary.

Nobody knows yet. Even the FBI has admitted that all they've been doing so far is sorting out the emails - which ones are relevant to Hillary and which ones are not relevant to Hillary (since it's Weiner's device, it stands to reason most of these will be related to Weiner and not Hillary), and of those which ones are duplicates from prior investigations. Nobody has really scrutinized the emails yet - all they've been doing so far is categorizing.

FBI director Comey is not violating law. Like the US State Dept. with Hillary, he may be violating his office's policy - but policy is not law. There are consequences for violating work policy, but when it's not law, it's not legal consequences. (Perjury though has legal consequences, but that's separate from violating work policy and has to be proven in the courts beyond reasonable doubt.)

Many people in this election are making the mistake of criminalizing politics that they don't agree with. Just because one doesn't agree with something political, doesn't necessarily mean it's a criminal activity.

FBI boss Comey’s integration is questionable and he must resign from duty. I believed FBI will declare the Clinton email case is closed again and the FBI found nothing after Election was finished.
