It is becoming more and more evident with each passing day that compared to our choices for the next president of the United States, Barack Obama has displayed outstanding character and is the officeholder with sold "family values" that are to be admired.

9 ( +16 / -7 )

Why can we read her emails but not his?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Yep, great family values, wanting his daughters to share public toilets with men.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

There are more than one hundred lawsuits and disputes tied to Trump companies. At his current income if 600 million a year, he can definitely cover the legal bills, but what happens if he has to get out of business and his salary is chopped down to one thousandth its current level? Maybe Trump should try again in another decade after clearing up his myriad business problems, because I don't see how he will be able to focus full time on being POTUS.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Clinton asserted that she “will be the nominee” “That is already done in effect. There is no way that I won’t be,”

Well, that puts to rest the lie that there really was a primary she had to win. Obviously Hillary was promised this years ago, and nothing, not the will of the people, not a possible indictment, nothing will stand in her way. There is something very dangerous when a person believes they deserve power.

The fact that she’s having trouble defeating Sanders speaks volumes to how she is perceived as unfit to lead. Sanders supporters have already filed for permits to demonstrate outside the convention, and they won't stop until they get some free food, free rent, a free college education, free cars and free cell phones. The Philadelphia police are preparing for a convention that will be more akin to a cage fight because it could be 1968 all over again.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Trumps calls American POWs "losers." That was my first clue that he wasn't fit to be President.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

“He can say whatever he wants to say,” she said, later adding that if “you pick a fight with a bully, you know, you are going to be pulled down to their levels.”

The only ones listening to Trump are the racists and bigots he so carefully swindled into a jihad on the GOP/Tea.

There's little doubt, the rest of Americans aren't quite as stupid as Trump's Thumpers.

"Clinton cited recent comments from Trump criticizing Great Britain, praising the leader of North Korea and questioning America’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO . . . she [had] “concluded he is not qualified to be president of the United States.” - article

There is little doubt Trump has scraped the barrels of bigots, to everyone's glee, but really?

Hand the keys over to a guy drunk on the sound of his own name? Poppycock.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Outrider. Toilet idea is Obama's. Not Any of Clinton's.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

LMAO ...if LYING through your teeth / straight to your FACE was a requirement, then she would be MORE than qualified.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Pot, kettle and black spring to mind immediately.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Press the reset button.... Whoopsi! Well that didn't work. Relations are worse now.

Libya....removing another dictator from the region, now a hornets nest of terrorists.

And Hillary is qualified? Hardly. Not to mention her credibility.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

Not to mention her credibility.

Well the image of her credibility has definitely been smeared by the right. But that's the image. They are definitely running an effective smear campaign.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

I'm sure Harry Reid has been encouraged sit Sanders down for a serious talk, soon. He has created a stampede that the democrats wish to turn before the convention if they are to at least appear civilized before an international arena. If not, the Republicans have all the momentum.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

"Trump said he would give unflinching support to American allies, even as he denigrated NATO and said he would demand that U.S. strategic partners, from Europe to Japan, cough up more cash to pay the defense bill or else suffer certain unnamed consequences. He pledged to destroy Islamic State but gave no clue as to how he would do it or betray any complex understanding of the underlying forces that gave rise to ISIS. He insisted he wants friendly relations with China while condemning President Clinton for letting the Chinese into the World Trade Organization."

•"The truth is, Trump does not appear to know what he is doing" - David Horsey, Top of the Ticket

Trump left "Presidential" somewhere last June when he started calling Mexicans rapists, American POWs losers, along with the rest of Americans he sold his Chinese made hats and shirts to.

On matters requiring thought and experience Trump shows what money can't buy.

Good sense and enough judgement to when to shut the hell up.

Little Fingers Trump is a paranoid liar. He said Obama was not a U.S. citizen. That's all we need to know.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Genuine question. What qualifies someone to be the U.S. President? With some of the recent and also prospective hopefuls I really have no idea.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Little Fingers Trump is a paranoid liar. He said Obama was not a U.S. citizen. That's all we need to know.

Actually it was the Clinton camp who first advanced the birth certificate question during the 2008 primary, as her campaign for the nomination faded. Accuracy counts.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Has the right smeared Bill also? Hillary lied about the server constantly and emails just as Bill lied about Monica Lewinski. No smear needed, they've don that for themselves. Do you recall Strangerland? Or is memory selective?

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Income tax revelation of candidates. At last election, Seators proposed that all presidential candidates have to reveal and Reid helped legalization. Romney had questionable finance and some had to reveal many years tax return. So, expect Trump wild have to reveal very soon.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

It's not required Toshiko, it is entirely optional. Bill Clinton did not. Hillary refused to release her emails until the FBI investigation. Trump, may or may not release tax returns.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Actually it was the Clinton camp who first advanced the birth certificate question during the 2008 primary, as her campaign for the nomination faded. Accuracy counts.

Yes, accuracy does count, and no, there is no evidence that Clinton or her 2008 campaign had any hand in the birther movement.

Facts. The bane of the Republican existence.

"Clinton cited recent comments from Trump criticizing Great Britain, praising the leader of North Korea..."

Trump didn't praise Kim, he said

“You’ve got to give him credit. How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals, and all of a sudden... he goes in, he takes over, he’s the boss...”

in other words, we have to take him seriously.

"Looking ahead to the general election, Clinton asserted that she “will be the nominee” for the Democratic party, noting her lead in delegates and votes over her Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders.

“That is already done in effect. There is no way that I won’t be,” said Clinton"

Oh, the arrogance of the woman...

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

You say this:

Trump didn't praise Kim, he said

Then contradict yourself with the next paragraph:

“You’ve got to give him credit. How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals, and all of a sudden... he goes in, he takes over, he’s the boss...”

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Hillary is the last person to talk, one of the most laziest Senators for her State, didn't do anything to fix the infrastructure of NYC buildings and highways etc. Lied about the events on Benghazi, her servers, pushed to oust Mubarak and Gaddafi, she has been flip flopping on issues since 1992 covered her husband, knowing about the things he did to women, even how she's running her campaign and using her Super delegates to get an advantage over Sanders. The woman is arrogant a habitual liar and for her to say Trump is not qualified, then she should definitely take herself out of the race, because she's not qualified at all.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

"You say this:

"Trump didn't praise Kim, he said"

If you want to take that as a contradiction, that's your mistake. Trump is not praising Kim as if he's done good things, he's saying Kim has proved to be capable of taking power. See the difference?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

"What qualifies someone to be the U.S. President?"

Nemui. It is a fair question. There are the obvious Constitutional qualifications, first of all, regarding birth and citizenship and age.

But what seems clear to me is that people this election cycle have this notion that any old idiot can just walk into Washington DC and get something done. That is definitely not the case. Political power is built up over decades, and it involves sacrifices, alliances and a whole lot of learning as coalitions get built up. Corruption? No. Not really. Some people can get things done and others can't.

I don't think Bernie or Trump can do anything in the next four years, if elected. Their stated goals are way way out there, and that is an understatement. Factor in that they will take probably a year and two years, respectively, just finding their way around a few political games, and what you get is pretty much a lame duck from day one. The Tea Party was really popular and got a few people elected. Not one of those elected did anything, as far as I know.

Bernie is a Senator from a tiny state. He has some experience. Trump has zilch. Zip. Nada. He has never been elected dog catcher, or even CEO. He runs his organizations one way and makes no compromises or coalitions.

So when Hillary says Trump is not qualified, she means that he has no political experience whatsoever. Politics is a dirty business, but it has its nuances, and some people are good at it and others are not. Hillary is good at it. Her resume is packed. She has numerous accomplishments she has been a part of. She has succeeded and failed. She has a rolodex the size of a Volkswagen, and she knows every head of state and what their favorite cocktail is. She has lived in the White House for 8 years. Her closest friend was President for 8 years. She knows how governors think. She knows how Senators think. She knows how Presidents think. She knows how women think... probably.

She is qualified. She could make things happen from day 1. That is no exaggeration. She is a bargain. America needs to sign her up and not look back. She is probably the most qualified candidate for president for the last 100 years, perhaps longer. She is not perfect. Nobody is perfect who ever tried to do anything. But look at the resumes of ALL candidates this year, and if you combined any three of them, they would not show the qualifications that Hillary has. And none of these pseudo scandals amount to anything, as far as I am concerned. They always come to nothing at best, or old-boy club misogyny at worst. That is just Washington throwing mud at someone who dared to make waves.

So, in my opinion, people need to look at what Hillary is saying. If people really believe that ignorance and big talk is better than experience and knowledge, and that any old joker can run the most powerful nation on earth, they won't be voting for Hillary. I think Hillary would be a better president by an order of magnitude than either Bernie or Trump. The choice is that clear.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Oh, lotsa reasons why Trump should never be allowed access to the White House. One is basic knowledge of how the government works. For example, the NYT quotes Trump as saying regarding gun-free zones:

I will get rid of gun-free zones on schools, and — you have to — and on military base. My first day, it gets signed, O.K.? My first day. There’s no more gun-free zones.

He does not seem to grasp that the mesh of gun-free zones do not derive from executive orders but from federal law; to reverse them would require an act of Congress.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/20/us/politics/hillary-clinton-donald-trump-gun-control.html?

Perhaps he should start from the beginning. If you're reading, Donald, here: This is for you!

Lol, ok. Greed is Trump's defining feature.

LagunaMay. 20, 2016 - 11:07AM JST Yes, accuracy does count, and no, there is no evidence that Clinton or her 2008 campaign had any hand in the birther movement.

I said Clinton camp, not campaign, accuracy, remember? From your link:

FactCheck.org wrote two-and-a-half years earlier, on Nov. 8, 2008: Claims about Obama’s birthplace appeared in chain emails bouncing around the Web, and one of the first lawsuits over Obama’s birth certificate was filed by Philip Berg, a former deputy Pennsylvania attorney general and a self-described “moderate to liberal” who supported Clinton."

It was the Clinton camp

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

@laguna, stranger, the summary from the link you both were kind enough to provide, Factcheck.org:

"It is certainly interesting, and perhaps historically and politically relevant, that “birther” advocacy may have originated with supporters of Hillary Clinton"

But how can this be? Birthers are all ignorant racists, liberals said so.

Facts are the bane of whose existence?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

one of the most laziest Senators

Gotta say, the Wapo hires the greatest wordsmiths. Keep it coming, bro! You is the most sharpest thinker I have ever readed.

she should definitely take herself out of the race, because she's not qualified at all.

At all? You forgot to use ALL CAPS. She has more experience than anyone who has been in this race. I most definitely have problems with Clinton, but can you please elucidate specifically in what ways Trump is more qualified to be president. Because he talks tough and gives you a chubby? The man is a joke. Are you?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

She has more experience than anyone who has been in this race.

Experience doesn't mean you will be a good leader. Obama WASN'T and given Hillary's record, it looks like she'll be worse (if that's even possible) we went through 7 years, almost 8 years of a guy that knew nothing, never cared and never wanted to play by the rules or by the constitution.

I most definitely have problems with Clinton, but can you please elucidate specifically in what ways Trump is more qualified to be president. Because he talks tough and gives you a chubby? The man is a joke.

Before I do that, please elucidate what Hillary specially wants to do (besides stacking the Supreme Court with liberal judges?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

So when Hillary says Trump is not qualified, she means that he has no political experience whatsoever

He has been CEO of a multi national corporation on the business side of the equation that could make or break the economy of a city by choosing to open a hotel or close a casino. You could make a very good argument he and his father made their fortune off the government. That in itself is redefining what political experience means. It is obviously operating at a vastly higher level to start with than Obama who attended a few meetings on a few bills as first term Senator without getting anything of substance accomplished. True, a Trump election would create complicated world that I don't think we have any experience in trying to figure out what that would look like but most Americans have already decided they have had enough of the alternative.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

You could make a very good argument he and his father made their fortune off the government.

And one of my too many to list worries about his potential presidency is he will add to the fortune he inherited from daddy by using presidential powers for his personal benefit.

I could see the various armed forces clad in uniforms made by Trump industries, but wonder if he'd have them made in Bangladesh, Mexico or China like he does his clothing line. He might privatize military bases, buy them up himself, rent them out to the various branches and have each called Fort Trump. Same with national parks and other public lands. I could see him first in queue (along with the Koch brothers, coal and oil companies plus the other resource exploiters who've long controlled the US) buying up then selling mineral rights. With his big banking buddies, he'd surely try to manipulate currency markets.

So many of his supporters want him to be Putin-like, and if elected I have little doubt he would become equally megalomaniacal, grabbing every chance possible to increase his personal power and with it his personal wealth, making ever greater fortunes off government for himself and his billionaire supporters.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

And one of my too many to list worries about his potential presidency is he will add to the fortune he inherited from daddy by using presidential powers for his personal benefit.

That simply isn't going to hold water when you are running against a woman that has made over 100 million with her husband in speaking fees over the last 15 years.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Trump Make America great again please. Bring us to the human exploitation, institutionalized racism, Jim Crow, Native Americans genocide, A-Bomb...

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Qualification in most case has nothing to do with whether one can be a leader or not. In many cases, the one who lied the most, most popular, promised to pay unions/groups the most money will become the elected officials. The end result is long list of broken promises, higher tax (or they like to call "revenue tools") to pay for their bribery/vote buying.People will suffer. Then, who cases, they will be elected once again as long as they put a twist into their lies, deploy massive smoke and ad. and able to put the blame to the previous leader.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

given Hillary's record, it looks like she'll be worse (if that's even possible)

I was wondering when you guys would start saying this.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

So many of his supporters want him to be Putin-like, and if elected I have little doubt he would become equally megalomaniacal, grabbing every chance possible to increase his personal power and with it his personal wealth, making ever greater fortunes off government for himself and his billionaire supporters.

Just because Obama did it, doesn't mean, we will have a repeat of that. The only thing I want is for Trump to not be apologetic for anything, forget the overbearing PC nuttiness talks and give his best effort to create a strong economy and strong military and keeping the Supreme Court balanced. Good enough for me.

"If [the American] people really believe that ignorance and big talk is better than experience and knowledge, and that any old joker can run the most powerful nation on earth, they won't be voting for Hillary." - comments

After all the bluster, this is one point few Americans can disagree on.

Trump is the lens that reveals his followers.

These few are imagining a world where Trump's decree makes them millionaires. It is the very image of the Huckleberry at the Carnival Midway.

Only the most simple minded imagines Trump will run as a dictator making all their dreams come true. A preposterous proposition only a fool believes.

Trump represents the adolescent malcontent who has long since joined the ranks of politic chanter, poor in memory and logic.

There are too many climbing on a significant public record of fraud and deception currently alive in the New York Court.

Trump will be called to testify in a forty million dollar fraud as his, as charged, "Trump University" was the template of fraud by design, some accomplishment.

If that reveals the thinking of the Trump Thumper, by their actions, support for a thief, then it is an accurate one.

"If [the American] people really believe that ignorance and big talk is better than experience and knowledge, and that any old joker can run the most powerful nation on earth, they won't be voting for Hillary." - comment emphasizes a wide perception of Trump as unstable and a danger to public safety.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Donald Trump's tweets are biting and his insults are painful and sometimes even career ending. Yet, CBS anchor John Dickerson, who moderated presidential debates during the primary season and had a front row seat to Trump's bombastic behavior, says it's Hillary Clinton who is "more vindictive" toward her opponents. He told Hugh Hewitt as much on his radio show Friday morning when the host asked him which presidential candidate was more ruthless toward their opponents.

"I think Clinton," Dickerson said, after hesitating a bit.

"Trump is very tough on those he does not like," Dickerson noted. "But, he gets over it."

Trump forgave Megan Kelly and Christie, Ben Carson, etc. He doesn’t hold grudges. As long as you stop attacking him, he usually forgive you. Can’t expect him to say nice thing about you when you continue to attack him. Its a two way street

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Neither of them is qualified. They're both cartoon characters, but if that's what the US wants to project to the world (along with its Hollywood banality) I say go for it - looks like the decline of the Roman Empire to me. History repeats itself, and we still learn nothing!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

After all the bluster, this is one point few Americans can disagree on.

But then again, the majority that support Trump don't really care what the insignificant few think.

Trump is the lens that reveals his followers.

Only the most simple minded imagines Trump will run as a dictator making all their dreams come true. A preposterous proposition only a fool believes.

And yet, Obama made all of our nightmares come true and he's NOT done yet, at least until the Winter.

Trump represents the adolescent malcontent who has long since joined the ranks of politic chanter, poor in memory and logic.

Do you think the last 8 years were governed by logic? I think it was governed by fear and lies.

Trump will be called to testify in a forty million dollar fraud as his, as charged, "Trump University" was the template of fraud by design, some accomplishment.

If that reveals the thinking of the Trump Thumper, by their actions, support for a thief, then it is an accurate one.

If Hillary can get off possibly with all the crimes she's committed, then Trump should breeze through this witch hunt.

"If [the American] people really believe that ignorance and big talk is better than experience and knowledge, and that any old joker can run the most powerful nation on earth, they won't be voting for Hillary." - comment emphasizes a wide perception of Trump as unstable and a danger to public safety.

Again, anyone that would consider voting for Hillary should be walking the plank!

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Mark, income tax revealing leveling was required at last election time to snoop. Romney. Hillary was not candidate, Obama and Romney. This rime,, Trump is apparent GOP nominee. Nothing to do with Sanders and Hillary fight now.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

it’s official: Donald Trump has won more votes in a primary than any other Republican candidate in history.

Gee......I guess SOME of my fellow Americans are really tired of the corporate war mongering cabal. All the rest, except for the Bernie supporters, are going to have a hard transgender pill to swallow in the coming months.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Yep, great family values, wanting his daughters to share public toilets with men.

Heh. Lots of thumbs down on Outrider's comment. Why the hate? Cause what he posted is true?? It is true.

There's little doubt, the rest of Americans aren't quite as stupid as Trump's Thumpers.

. . . . but they sure do regret voting for "change." Still can't believe obama sold that lemon to you guys.

So many of his supporters want him to be Putin-like

Obama is a push-over. Putin pushed him out the way in syria. Many of Trump supporters don't want to see the US getting pushed around. That's not what america is all about.

Hillary Clinton: Trump 'not qualified' to be president

Let the voters decide that, Hillary. It's should be something to think about seeing how Bernie Sanders and his voters are being screwed by the pro-Clinton DNC establishment.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

It's should be something to think about seeing how Bernie Sanders and his voters are being screwed by the pro-Clinton DNC establishment.

Yeah, they're kind of getting screwed. They'll just have to raise their intensity a little more, cause another flare-up like in LV . . . . what's their slogan again? "Feel the Bern !"

Everyone git ur popcorn ready.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Trump has the big advantage from his 40 plus years in the real estate development business, and running a successful reality show. He has had to sell himself and his plans.

Now when you think of Hillary, what has she ever sold, what does she know about really persuading people to anything much less vote for her.

Whenever Trump says anything bad about Clinton, she either doesn’t respond or it can take days before she responds. I’m guessing that she has consultants who work on a response, then does a focus group to see how the response plays. Trump doesn’t do focus groups, and he’s his own consultant, and his instincts have been excellent in most cases, a few fumbles, but not many. They are using a now very outdated playbook to mount this presidential campaign and it shows. Trump has rewritten the way to run for office and Hillary just can’t adapt to the new reality and won’t.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Now when you think of Hillary, what has she ever sold, what does she know about really persuading people to anything much less vote for her.

She helped sell the unilateral invasion into Iraq after 9/11. Guess she tallied up some points there.

But, how is Hilary going to satisfy her voters if she get's elected? She couldn't even satisfy her husband.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

All I know is, when The Clintons were in The Whitehouse during the 90's we didn't have a HUGE problem with Terrorism like today and the Economy was the best in over 30 Years. Plus, China was not an issue either.

Would I like to see The Clintons back in The Whitehouse?

As things stand today - Yes, I would.

(sorry D.Trump us off his rocker..)

Trump 'Not Qualified' To Be President

Donald J. Trump disqualified himself from the Presidency.

In his letter of complaint and ridicule of American Disabled Veterans, Trump demanded his Fifth Avenue, home of Trump Towers, be swept clean of the dirty, dirty disabled veterans, licensed by the City of New York, to sell sundry goods as a subsistence living from vending carts.

Donald J. Trump decided to vilify those who gave their limbs and lives for a few square feet on his precious doorstep.

Trump ridiculed these Patriots, stating he, Trump, could not care less that these disabled veterans served their country and were granted permission and protection by the City of New York since the end of the Civil War.

Trump swept these Americans from his street.

And that has forever defined Trump in the eyes and minds of Veterans and permanently disqualified Donald J. Trump from the Presidency. Trump cannot hide from the truth.

Hillary Clinton as the first lady comments-

“at-risk youth” is a dog-whistle for “black youth” and by saying they needed to “bring them to heel” is obviously in reference to training them to submit to their masters like dogs. She also called them “super predators.” So basically, making a racist statement like that completely disqualifies her from the presidency as well.

Donald J. Trump decided to vilify those who gave their limbs and lives for a few square feet on his precious doorstep.

But he's got the support of the NRA today. VERY bad news for Hillary.

Trump ridiculed these Patriots, stating he, Trump, could not care less that these disabled veterans served their country and were granted permission and protection by the City of New York since the end of the Civil War.

And yet, they support him over Hillary.

Trump swept these Americans from his street. And that has forever defined Trump in the eyes and minds of Veterans and permanently disqualified Donald J. Trump from the Presidency. Trump cannot hide from the truth.

I think if you ask the veterans what they think about Obama, they would spit in his face, if you ask them about which candidate they trust more Hillary definitely loses. If the NRA can't trust her and won't endorse her, she has NO hope with the veterans.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Trump vs Clinton, maybe. If Hillary want to win,, she should stop telling about, Trump, listen to Sanders and make them comfortable to join Dem. Invite Sanders to DNC. She,, too, don't ignore Reid, Ignore Trump's name calling.
