To an extent I agree with the lobbyists; if there is no authoritative edition by the time the copyright runs out, it'll come out for sale in so many different forms and messages that it'll make the original tame by comparison.

I can certainly understand the ban on the original as well, and I'm not suggesting that Mein Kampf 'grace' the window and shelves of all Chapters stores or wherever in Germany, but there should be a published copy available for reference as a historical document/text for reference, if only to point out how evil it and its author were (are).

I read the half of an edition dating from WWII. Boring as the entertainment section. Hitler was a crappy painter, writer and leader.

TumbleDry,

Same here. Well said.

TumbleDry: Bang on. I read the first couple of chapters long ago just out of curiousity and tossed it in the trash. I've never been more bored.

Well, my friends, as with the writings of japanese nationalists, I could probably read the whole thing in the original, but I prefer the English version.

In addition to the distasteful content, the writing in Mein Kampf is indeed horrible and while people say it sells well in the Middle East, I highly doubt very many people finish it.

I couldn't agree more. Boring a heck, if ever there was boring.

I read a bit of it in uni - a badly written and poorly though-out yawn fest by a moron. Seeing as many of my older Japanese students always bang on about how the Japanese and German "spirit" is "very similar" - why don't they publish it in Japan? I'm serious - it may well be a bestseller to the oldies here!

I think this kind of book is unfortunately dangerous when it falls into bad hands. This brings nothing positive. Just remember, Mein Kampf, was and still is a bestseller in Turkish market, appreciated particularly by the young nationalist militants but also by police academies' students identified as TürkisheJugend (Turkish youth) in reference to HitlerJugend of the years 1930. Nothing really astonishing in a country that still denies after 95 years the forgotten genocide of 1.5 million Armenians.

There is what to worry about when such people take pleasure in reading such a book !

But you gotta admit. He was one hell of a motivator. But in a bad way. Let's hope there aren't idiots out there that take this guy seriously. Ooopppss. look at the above post. I guess there are idiots out there. Thanks for the info URO.
