Dalian seafood is famous. What a disaster!

Would not wish this on anyone. Yuck. Hope they get some decent equipment together for the cleanup.

“We don’t have proper oil cleanup materials, so our workers are wearing rubber gloves and using chopsticks,” an official with the Jinshitan Golden Beach Administration Committee told the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper, in apparent exasperation.

How someone can plan on building a pipeline on a sea port and not have a plan for cleaning up spilled oil is beyond my comprehension. How can anyone be that short-sighted?

Look at BP -drilling in 5,000 feet of water, but no plan of action when the pipe broke!

Wait until China finishes building, and operating 100 nuclear power reactors it has on the planning boards. Radioactivity does a lot more damage than spilled oil.

I bet disaster preparedness will become bigger deal in most oil contracts from now on. At least I hope so. <:-)

Maybe BP could help out here.

That would amount roughly to 400,000 gallons (1,500,000 liters)—as compared with 94 million to 184 million gallons in the BP oil spill off the U.S. coast.

Even our oil spills are better.

adaydream...I hope so too, sad we have to wait for such bad things to happen in order to take actions more seriously.

Agreed Aday, some of us don't learn until it happens. I wonder if China is willing to accept help from the US oil companies who already have a system in place for oil spills. Cos chopsticks won't do jack.
