One of the Russian posters on this board recommended We by Yevgeny Ivanovich Zamyatin. It was written in 1924, long before Brave New World, 1984 and other dystopian novels (though after Jack London's The Iron Heel). In We the people are ruled by an organization called the 'United State'. (note singular use)

Given the recent usage of terms like 'alternative facts' it's not too much of a reach to see the current US leader establishing his own Ministry of Truth. As a master of marketing, he knows how to sell alternative facts to his followers begging for a big brother form of authoritarian nationalism. And it appears he's got his own branches of media to help him broadcast his slimed versions of 'truth'.
