My condolences for the Russian people and for the families of the fallen. Whatever may be the differences among our governments, we are all part of the same human family.

Looks like Obama's "moderate" and "vetted" rebels, after having lost on the battlefield, decided to take revenge on an airliner in civilian airspace.

What an absolute sad thing to say. Obama? Oh please. It's almost laughable. Don't you have any shame at all?

Wouldn't a gang of Syrian rebels stick out like a sore thumb in the Russian resort city Sochi?

"an airliner in civilian airspace."

It was a military aircraft filled with military personnel, belonging to a military that has inflicted untold misery on the civilian population of the region it was headed to.

Let's hear it for "perspective."

92 persons, 64 were CHOIR SINGERS ...

Very good words. What a pity that some people obviously are not the part of the same human family:

It was a military aircraft filled with military personnel, belonging to a military that has inflicted untold misery

Hey fellas, no need for macho sniping over an obvious tragedy. Would just like to how Syrians are capable of bringing down a plane a few km from seemingly secure Sochi. If it was a terror attack, wouldn't an international terror group, i.e. not Syrian rebels, be the most likely culprit?

I hope Russia will find out cause asap.

I predict years of endless conspiracy theories from Russia

My guess is (a US supplied) shoulder-fired anti-aircraft weapon from a small boat by "vetted" rebels.

Awesome.

Burning Bush: My guess is (a US supplied) shoulder-fired anti-aircraft weapon from a small boat by "vetted" rebels. Don't forget that Syrian rebels can easily cross into Turkey and Turkey has a very long coastline along the southern part of the Black Sea.

Are the seas around Sochi really that porous? The aircraft was only a mile out when it crashed.

How far would a 'small boat' get before interception, especially after an air transport crash has stirred up?

Abkhazia is a few miles southeast of Sochi, but it's a Russian client state and "the Russian coast guard patrols their waters" (wikipedia), looks like about 80 miles of Abkhazian shoreline before the small boat would get to Georgia. If crossing the sea to Turkey, they'd stick out like a sore thumb.

some experts said the crew’s failure to report a malfunction pointed at a possible terror attack.

“Possible malfunctions ... certainly wouldn’t have prevented the crew from reporting them,”

There has been crashes in the past where no distress single was sent due to the pilots fighting for control. Loss of electrical power.

Was it carrying ammo in the hold which was not properly secured ?

Was it hit by a missile or did a internal planted bomb going off ?

Until a full investigation is carried out and evidence of the cause found, we will never know for sure.

Jeepers guys there are plenty of ways that an airplane can crash not long after takeoff. Jumping to conclusions much? I feel sad for the people who died and their families. But just piling on a tragedy to score points on a web board? That's a bit lame.

It is impossible.
