Obama and hillary have completely messed up on ME policy. The initiative is now with Russia and thank god for that.

I think it is safe to say most Syrians preferred Syria the way it was before this 'civil war'. I think this also holds true for Iraq and Libya. I only hope the world will someday learnits lesson.

Syrian rebels leery of cease-fire plan

Who are these 'rebels'?

The second in command of the powerful, ultraconservative Ahrar al-Sham group condemned the superpower agreement

This is a group that should replace the Assad government? Talking about from the fat into the fire.

The arrangement has divided rebel factions, who have depended on the might of the powerful al-Qaida-linked Jabhat Fatah al-Sham faction

This is a group that should replace the Assad government? Talking about from the fat into the fire.

The free Syrian factions under the Euphrates Shield

This is a group that should replace the Assad government? Based on what we've seen happening in Turkey recently, talk about from the fat into the fire.

But that scenario is complicated by the fact that Jabhat Fatah al-Sham remains intertwined with several other factions. It is not clear how these governments intend to distinguish between Jabhat Fatah al-Sham and other allied rebel factions or how they will be able to attack the al-Qaida linked militants without hitting other rebels as well.

It seems pretty clear that those suggesting the 'rebels' should take over the government in Syria have no clue who or what they are talking about .

Saddam, Khaddafy were not the best choices and Assad isn't either, but they were and are a sure sight better than what has happened in Iraq and Libya and what could end up happening in Syria. Craziness!

The way this is going to end: All 'rebels' gone. Assad remains in power. Just need to open those arms wide over there to welcome all those that left to return. There should be a lot of (re)construction work available which hopefully Russia and/or oil revenues will finance.

Assad just unpacked his overnight travel bag. Ahhhh. A man's home is his castle.
