What do first world countries expect when they allow people from failed states into their countries? Somalia is arguably one of the most violent countries on earth where violence is prevalent! It is the same in Europe, more terrorists operating alone than 10 years ago, more selective targeting of victims with cruder weapons to avoid detection.(knives and axes but still handguns/bombs). The motive behind the rampage would indicate whether it is considered terrorism or not. If it is associated with ISIS, or with some grudge against the American government, then it is considered terrorism.

If you remember Timothy McVeigh or the Unibomber you would know they were also considered terrorists, though they were white, because of their motives.

One of the reasons contributing to why someone as preposterous as Trump can go full throttle is the left's failure to even talk about Islamist terrorism honestly. Obama saying ISIS has nothing to do with terrorism was understandably exasperating for many. Thankfully, there are many decent and honest people, including decent and honest Muslims, prepared to identify the links of belief and action.

The left better wise up to this. The failure to do this is making them look ridiculous and opening the door for true bigotry.

Maybe in some countries/media but most unbiased and quality media know that many Caucasian french, aussies, brits etc have enrolled with isis and as such ARE terrorists.

You have "one man's terrorist" and "another man's freedom fighter" in quotes, but searching for "one man" and "freedom" in the Breitbart article turns up no hits.

The article is about the gun control movement and Gifford pushing for more background checks, even though the guy who shot her passed background checks to buy his gun.

It's not defending the guy who shot her at all, which is what you appear to be implying Breitbart did.

It is definitely a point though. Loughner is technically not a terrorist because he was was excused from terrorism charges in court and in the media by default of never having received proper mental health services. It was almost certainly have been a different story if he had been a mentally ill Muslim Arab immigrant instead of a mentally ill white, Christian-Jewish, native-born U.S. citizen.

Well, muslim terrorists do tend to get the "mental illness" free pass.

But I think less and less. Especially since ISIS renewed its call for knife attacks just last month.
