Probably the best person for SoS would be Jon Huntsman, former Gov of Utah. He was our ambassador to China a few years ago and actually speaks Mandarin. He's GOP but got drummed out of the GOP primary in 2012 as the idiot GOP base claimed he was a commie for knowing how to speak Chinese. He was the only one that year who really was presidential timber but the GOP base is not capable of rational thought.

I wouldn't mind Romney in there as a hedge to the Trump swamp. On the other hand, Romney played a part in creating the post-truth politics that run the GOP nowadays. But still better than the swamp nutters.

The reality TV-style auditions have stirred speculation that it could be a Trump-approved attempt to humiliate a prominent Republican who staunchly opposed him throughout the presidential campaign.

Reminds me of a movie scene . . .

Romney: Donald, I'm innocent. I swear on the kids.

Trump: Sit down.

Romney: Please don't do this to me, Donald. Please don't.

Trump: The Republican Party is dead. So is the Reagan Revolution. And the GOP establishment. Today I settled all family business, so don't tell me that you're innocent. Admit what you did.

Romney: Donald, you got it all wrong.

Trump: There's a car outside that will take you to the airport. I'll call your wife and tell her what flight you're on.

Romney: Listen, Donald...

Michael: Go on. Get out of my sight.

Trump met with Romney again last week over dinner, a remarkable moment of public courtship after which the 2012 nominee addressed reporters and did a stunning about-face on Trump, declaring that the evening with the president-elect was “enlightening, and interesting, and engaging” and that he was optimistic that “America’s best days are ahead of us.”

Haha, it's all just pure farce. If anyone honestly believed that the swamp needed to be drained, it would have to go much, much farther than what even Trump is offering

Did anyone notice how at the famous dinner Trump was eating a bowl of cereal?

Anyway Romney would be much better than Giuliani or, heaven forbid, Bolton.

They do the dance right in front of us and get away with it. I could elaborate, but I'm hoping you simply get it. And for heaven's sake, don't tell me you forgot about Palin. Time to go polish your shoes, so when you hang your head in disbelief, you'll see the true face of the country.

"Romney would be much better than Giuliani"

Nah, he'd be much worse than Giuliani, but Tulsi Gabbard would be better than any of them.

Probably the best person for SoS would be Jon Huntsman, former Gov of Utah.

And going by reports out this morning Huntsman is indeed under active consideration for the position. Whether he would accept or not is a different matter. I would support him just as strongly I did in 2012 despite running a seriously awful campaign, which did him in as much as any pushback by Republicans against Obama.
