The pressure is getting to Trump. He's going to totally lose it very soon.

All US politicians with any ties to Putin and his Russian oligarchs should be investigated. But I think the Don is feeling defensive and deflecting in this case, grasping once again for straws. I guess that's to be expected from a person who can't accept responsibility for mistakes he's made and who points blame away from himself. The buck doesn't stop in his White House (unless it goes in his pockets).

Hopefully the US intelligence community and the media will learn more about Trump and his appointees' connections with Russians. It could be it's all above board. Or not. But the truth needs to come out.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Yet again, another third-grade playground stunt by the Toddler-in-Chief ! You did it first !

13 ( +15 / -2 )

This is just a waste of time.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

President Trump is calling for “an immediate investigation” into Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer’s own ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin

Does this chump ever do anything other than deflection and projection?

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Good grief! It appears that the Democrat Party is getting more, and more, desperate. Hillary lost. Get over it.

Now the Democrats are complaining that Trump is DEFENDING himself from attacks by the Democrats. It's just politics and it's being played by both sides. It appears that the Russians are playing both sides against each other and the Russians are winning.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

53% of Americans think the media us unfair to Trump, pretty much overkill to be honest

In this instance @bass was right. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/02/27/among-otherwise-mediocre-poll-results-a-big-gift-to-president-trump/?utm_term=.2a55aba81965

Waiting for those who think the media is biased to NOT accept this source and claim it's fake news. @bass?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now the Democrats are complaining that Trump is DEFENDING himself from attacks by the Democrats.

Defending himself is not what he is doing.

It appears that the Russians are playing both sides against each other and the Russians are winning.

Putin is not a fool. Trump is. As soon as he opened his mouth and talked about his good relationship with Putin it opened a can of worms. Putin knew how to play it from the beginning.

You're right though... it is politics and it is being played by both sides.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Does this chump ever do anything other than deflection and projection?

Do Democrats have anything better to do like work.....oh, I forgot, why on Earth would a socialist party know anything about work?

this is the reason why so many of us chose Trump..You mean the minority right...53% of Americans think the media us unfair to Trump, pretty much overkill to be honest...Wonder where you get your figures but isn't this the disapproval rating for chump.

I think the deliberate and idiotic attempt to stupidly take Trump down is now helpful to the Democrats cause, even while they have nothing to grasp on.

@PT

Well, most libs would think that, I'm not surprised by it. And?

-19 ( +1 / -20 )

Definitely a targeted attack to deflect from Pence's emails.

Lock him up! Lock him up!

5 ( +7 / -2 )

So the emails deflected from Sessions lying under oath, and now Trump is deflecting from the emails with Twitter attacks against celebs.

Pretty smart tactic actually.

Lock him up! Lock him up! Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Haaa Nemui - Defending himself is not what he is doing.

That is exactly what he is doing. Trump has a history of being a counter-puncher. The Democrats don't seem to understand that not everyone will kowtow to their particular brand of Groupthink. Shocking.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

When testifying before Congress, Sessions was specifically asked about contacts with Russians WITH REGARD TO THE ELECTION. That's all.

He was NOT asked about contacts with Russians with regard to his Senate-committee service. Of COURSE he spoke with Russia's ambassador in that capacity (as well as ambassadors from around 20 other countries). That's NOT what he was asked about.

This whole thing is a ridiculous, manufactured "scandal" -- another lame attempt by Democrats to derail and de-legitimize the Trump presidency.

For the Dems, this isn't about Sessions. Nor is it about Russia. It's about politics. It's about their stubborn refusal to admit that they lost the election last November, and that Donald Trump is president now.

And, of course, most of the media are just as guilty as the Democrats are of bending and twisting the truth. No wonder the public's trust in the media is so low right now.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

He was NOT asked about contacts with Russians with regard to his Senate-committee service. Of COURSE he spoke with Russia's ambassador in that capacity (as well as ambassadors from around 20 other countries). That's NOT what he was asked about.

Yeah, but obviously he's an amateur if he didn't recognize that not being clear that he had other contacts with Russia would end up in a situation where people would be questioning him on this.

And do you really want an amateur in his position?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

"Trump’s evidence? A 14-year-old photo of Schumer and Putin holding coffee and doughnuts in a New York City gas station."

That's more evidence than he had for his trash birtherism.

Credit where it's due. By his standards, it's progression of a kind.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Remember seeing the picture of Jeff Sessions eating a doughnut with Vladimir Putin? Or, the photo of a sit down meeting where Kislyak was present?

Neither do I. . . .

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

@badsey This "story" must be another "fake news" article

Russia Today (an outlet in Putin's global media empire), had an article, but as you say it could be fake news. So did FOX'news' (an outlet in Murdoch's global media empire). But then seriously, who really believes anything reported by Putin and Murdoch, two globalist billionaires looking first and foremost to increase their personal wealth and power.

However, I couldn't find anything on Breitbart, TrumpBannon's site. But then seriously, who really believes anything reported by TrumpBannon, two globalist billionaires looking first and foremost to increase their personal wealth and power.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Desperate stuff from Trump & Co. But it's nice of him to keep the whole Russia thing in the news. Crikey what an amateur this man is.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

That is exactly what he is doing. Trump has a history of being a counter-puncher. The Democrats don't seem to understand that not everyone will kowtow to their particular brand of Groupthink. Shocking.

No it's not. "You did it so it's ok if we do" is not defending yourself. Look at it as if it was the crime of murder.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Is Russia really that powerful so as to warrant all this attention?

Which country meddling in your elections would cause you concern?

10 ( +10 / -0 )

@rbush Russia really that powerful so as to warrant all this attention?

Why does Russia have a paid keyboard brigade spreading pro-Russian, pro-Trump messages? To bring attention to Russia and Trump perhaps?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Haaa Nemui - No it's not. "You did it so it's ok if we do" is not defending yourself. Look at it as if it was the crime of murder.

Yes it is. Did you read the headline?

Trump, hitting back, accuses Schumer of Putin ties.

Trump was defending himself, and the Democrats don't like it when their intended victim strikes back.

Murder? That's absurd.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Trump was defending himself, and the Democrats don't like it when their intended victim strikes back.

And the Republicans don't like it when their guys get busted using non-official email servers after getting hysteric about it for years!

Lock him up! Lock him up!

Moderator: Please stop posting "lock him up" at the end of your comments.

ClippetyClop - Which country meddling in your elections would cause you concern?

Ask Israel about the time Obama, along with his friends and associates, tried their best to unseat Israel's PM Netanyahu. Now there was some real first class meddling in a foreign government's election.

PTownsendMAR. 04, 2017 - 12:19PM JST Why does Russia have a paid keyboard brigade spreading pro-Russian, pro-Trump messages? To bring attention to Russia and Trump perhaps?

Because like the ALT-Right, they have a vested interest in undermining democracy. Russia has a long history of trying to undermine democracies to hide its own corruption. The only novelty is paying trolls to dupe racist failures into supporting their agenda.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Do Democrats have anything better to do like work.....oh, I forgot, why on Earth would a socialist party know anything about work?

oh so now, the Democratic party is synomous with "socialism." Not true, but even still socialism isn't a bad thing. And all economies have elements of socialism in them. Subsidies for corporations? socialism. Food stamps? socialism. but back at you, Bass; doesn't Donald have anything better to do than sit on his butt tweeting 14 year old pictures? i dunno, how about a real healthcare proposal!?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Yes it is. Did you read the headline?

No it's not. Where does it say defends himself in the headline? Hitting back is not defense. It's offense.

I also wasn't saying the crime is like murder but using murder as an example of how you should view your argument. Absurdity is not realizing the argument still applies in both situations.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trumpy is making G DUBYA look like an intelligent individual with all these gaffes !

4 ( +5 / -1 )

So he's taking an old photo out of context, and somehow equating or saying that it's worse than his administration's contact with Russians during the very suspicious elections?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Trump is just trying to draw attention away from the fact that Pencey got busted doing a Hillary, and he doesn't want people to realize he's being hypocritical by not leading a praye.. I mean chant of "lock him up! lock him up!"

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@Paul

Not sure you see what Nemui is trying to say.

Basically, the accusation is that Sessions met with Russians and was untruthful under oath. Trump's response is that Schumer met Putin (in public, in what was basically a photo op).

The logic is "Bob did the bad thing, but it's not so bad because Jack did it too", which is a ridiculous agruement.

Nemui is trying to say, in a legal sense, this won't hold water. Eg. A man claiming "Well, I raped Sally, but it's not so bad because Bob did it too" would be ludicrous.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Isn't it a further matter of concern that the President of the United States gets his information from the Drudge Report and Gateway Pundit? What's next - the National Enquirer?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Okay, so hang on a sec.... Trump was caught blatantly lying about not only having met and talked to Putin in the past, but also to connections with him at present (and let's not get started on his investments in Russia and why he refuses to show tax documents!), but later said it was a GOOD thing to have ties to Russia, and now he's saying that any connection to Russia by this man would be a heinous crime?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

@Alistair - Exactly ! Well said ! The Toddler-in-Chief is a joke !

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Thanks kaynide... Sometimes I should make myself clearer.

It just shows Trump and his partisan hack supporters' total lack of understanding of what ethics are.

They see Trump cabinet members getting hammered for lying under oath about their potential back-room dealings with Russia, and they just assume the public is upset about the "with Russia" part, ignoring the "lying under oath about their potential back-room dealings" part.

Under the Trump mindset, certain people are just good or evil. Watch the way they demonize immigrants and refugees and people in the inner city (dog whistle code- black people) and Muslims and Liberals - membership in these groups in their minds makes you an inherently bad person. So when challenged on their own ethical violations, their first assumption is that the American people have an objection to who they're selling us out to. It doesn't even occur to them that we would have an objection to them selling us out. That's not how their minds work. They're too small and hateful to understand the subtlety.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4280282/Donald-Trump-misspells-multiple-tweets.html

I'm disappointed AP neglected to mention Trump's illiteracy: The first version of the tweet began with the words "I hear by demand a second investigation..." which was later amended to, "I hearby..." and only on the third version finally corrected to, "I hereby..."

While he was mangling the English language with these tweets, he also apparently tweeted, "We must fix our education system for our kids to Make America Great Again."

Don't worry, Trumpy, Betsy DeVos is on the case!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

2003 was a long time ago, before a lot of things happened

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Nothing unsual of Mr Trump, he forgets he will be there as president not more than 4 or 8 years if lucky, after that new president might emerge; so no president of the USA can change govt policies just drastically as this man tries, that would just wobble the very Nation, every president ought to preserve the unity in diversity of structures sir.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The so-called President is acting more and more like a dictator. He lies so much, nothing he says can be taken seriously. Very bad for Americans, and for the world.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Is Russia really that powerful so as to warrant all this attention? well they clearly have the hacking abilities as it would appear, they have more nuclear warheads in their arsenal than the US does around 7500, with the ICBMs to deliver them. Their conventional military has twice as many battle tanks as the US, have a similar number of military aircraft and nuclear submarines and their missile tech is more than a match for the US. Oh and its all controlled by one man billionaire dictator Putin. So yes Russia is as powerful as it seems, and the US knows it.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Heck Trump is just being sarcastic.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Haaa Nemui - No it's not. Where does it say defends himself in the headline? Hitting back is not defense. It's offense.

LOL. Hitting back means someone hit you and you retaliated. Hitting back IS self-defense. And the Democrats don't like it when their intended victims counter-punch. However, the Democrats do appear to be equal opportunity haters and bullies since they also attacked fellow Democrats who defended Bernie Sanders from Democrat Party attacks.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Retaliation can happen months, even years after an attack. Retaliation is not self-defense. Defense is having the ability to do something to prevent an attack not firing back afterwards. For example... America has nukes as a deterrent to other nations... That is defense. NK fires a nuke at America and America fires one back. That is retaliation. Hopefully you can see that America hasn't defended itself. It has fired a nuke because it is upset and/or angry. A pre-emptive strike could possibly be called defensive but not one after the initial attack by NK.

Another example... You get into a fight in a bar and get a mighty swing to the jaw. Not something that knocks you out cold but something that takes you a moment to recover from... then you go back in and land a severe blow. That is not defense. If you had landed your blow at the exact time your opponent was still throwing their swing, that can be called defense. Do you understand the concept?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hitting back is retaliation. Retaliation is not the same as defense. Retaliation can happen months or even years after an attack.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Haaa Nemui - Hitting back is retaliation. Retaliation is not the same as defense. Retaliation can happen months or even years after an attack.

You object to Trump defending himself against attacks by Democrats. Personally, I'm in favor of self-defense. It's a natural reaction. Your attempt to tell the victims to stop defending themselves doesn't sound very convincing, except maybe to the Democrats.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Where do I say I object to him defending himself? That's not what he is doing. Defending himself might actually excuse their lies about activities with Russians.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Trump is a counter-puncher. It appears that he is willing, and able, to defend himself against attack. Trump's counter-punching, hitting back, engaging in self-defense are all objectionable to Democrats.

Having lost power in both houses of Congress and the WH, whining about Trump is the only option Democrats have left.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

They don't need to do anything when even his own people have started questioning his abilities and sanity.
