I just want to let the world know I am 100 percent in favor” of the measure, Trump said at the White House after meeting around a dozen House lawmakers and shaking hands on revisions. “We’re going to have a health care plan that’s going to be second to none.”

Let's parse this here. Obama said, "If you want to keep your doctor, you can keep your doctor" and, when insurance companies dictated that not to be the case (though that is exactly what he was alluding to - hey, free market, man), he was eviscerated.

Then Trump promises, "So — and we're going to have — you know, we have to cover people that can't afford it. And that's what I'm talking ... And nobody is going to be dying on the streets with a President Trump." Honestly, "people dying on the streets" is a rather low benchmark to overcome, but an estimated 24 million Americans losing access to health insurance is a close second (welcome back, emergency room treatment!). Any word on how his complete reversal is being received? (I know - so many, difficult to track.)

Fortunately, Republicare will go nowhere; unfortunately, instead of acting like adults and fixing ACA flaws, the GOP will do its best to let it - FORCE it - to fail. They don't care about how it affects Americans - to them, it's simply an ideological game.

He's 100 per cent behind it until it fails miserably. Then he will pin blame on the convenient scapegoat (s).

The most morally reprehensible Congressional majority in the history of American governance. The GOP is a party bankrupt of reason, compassion and morality, entirely divorced from the will of the people.

And a chicken in every pot. Talk is cheap, ain't it? We're like people sitting in their cars going through a car wash.

Your whole post was great but this really nails it. The Republicans would rather hurt America than see a black democrat president succeed at making America better.

As some of you have suggested, this is strictly a political bill and not about healthcare as they would have you believe.

If President Trump is 100% behind it, let him sign up everyone in his family as the first client under the new plan and drop all govt provided health care.

@the Fu - Good idea, but don't hold your breath 'til that happens !

I hope it fails and that the GOP scrap the entire thing, repeal it entirely and then the Dems would have to lend and give bipartisan support to it, that is, if they want to see something get done and help the people, that would be the best outcome.

The ACA was an idea Obama and the Democrats borrowed from the Heritage Foundation, a very conservative think tank. Dems knew that the GOP would never go for a single payer system (since that's "socialism"--dirty word), so the ACA was meant to be a compromise.

But the GOP didn't want to give credit to their opponents for being reasonable and coming up with a middle-of-the-road solution, especially not to Obama--the socialist, foreign-born, multiethnic, Muslim, teleprompter-reading, mom-jeans-wearing, golf-playing (!!!), tyrant. So the GOP named the ACA "Obamacare", knowing that they could use their base's resentment of non-whites to sink a health care system whose components were widely popular and had a fair amount of success.

Now the GOP is in a bind. They made their bed and now they have to sleep in it. They can't go back on their promise to scrap the whole system (or the tea partiers will go berserk), and they're going to be screwed come midterms if they take away the parts of the ACA that people like.

As for Trump, the man doesn't know what he's talking about. His inconsistencies are par for the course. Trump's main policy concern is how the world treats him right.

Bipartisan support to make insurance optional, cut support for low-income families, give tax relief to the 1%, and offer massive salary boosts to insurance CEOs. Yeah, that will "help the people" a lot. A real winning solution. Those new Mar-a-Lago members who have had to pay double the initiation fee since Trump became president can rest assured that their loss will be more than made up for by this administration's policies.

The ACA was an idea Obama and the Democrats borrowed from the Heritage Foundation, a very conservative think tank.

The idea was to create savings accounts, lower pricing and better access for everyone, the conservatives NEVER intended for the government to take over and create a huge entitlement apparatus.

What a load of pure garbage.

Now the GOP is in a bind. They made their bed and now they have to sleep in it. They can't go back on their promise to scrap the whole system (or the tea partiers will go berserk), and they're going to be screwed come midterms if they take away the parts of the ACA that people like.

Again, the best thing for the GOP is to NOT revise this Obama lite junk, but to completely repeal it and start from scratch and that would put pressure on the Dems to get off their butts and for both parties to come up with a bipartisan bill that both sides could agree on.

As for Trump, the man doesn't know what he's talking about. His inconsistencies are par for the course. Trump's main policy concern is how the world treats him right.

Most politicians don't have a clue what they are talking about, truth be told, but you can't be a millionaire if you are a dummy, never met one yet.

Bipartisan support to make insurance optional,

Yes!

cut support for low-income families,

No, cut necessary entitlements and if you have a heavy smoker or someone that likes to eat Twinkies all day and they know it's bad for their health, I or any other American shouldn't have to be burdened with the responsibility of paying for someone that is irresponsible.

give tax relief to the 1%, and offer massive salary boosts to insurance CEOs.

Demonizing the rich again, we should punish them, they have NO right to be rich or make a lot of money. My heart weeps.

Yeah, that will "help the people" a lot.

Apparently, the Dems didn't have the answers, that's why the majority of Americans want this monstrosity repealed and I'm not talking about the 20 million that are content with it, that's still a drop in the bucket.

A real winning solution. Those new Mar-a-Lago members who have had to pay double the initiation fee since Trump became president can rest assured that their loss will be more than made up for by this administration's policies.

ROFL

What a load of pure garbage. Do your research, journalist.

Demonizing the rich again, we should punish them, they have NO right to be rich or make a lot of money.

Your words, not mine ROFL.

you can't be a millionaire if you are a dummy, never met one yet.
