“You know, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way. Because I’ll tell you what: No computer is safe,” Trump told reporters during his annual New Year’s Eve bash. “I don’t care what they say.”

Of course. That's what 70-year olds are supposed to say. Also "you dang kids get off my lawn" and "you call that noise music?!"

I know a lot about hacking.

Really. You, Donald Trump, a 70-year old reality TV show host whose hobby up till now was walking into beauty pageant changing rooms unannounced and making up racist conspiracy theories about the president, want us to believe you know anything at all about hacking? Exactly what kind of penenetration testing experience do you have, and I'll remind you that "grab 'em by the pussy" isn't that kind of penetration.

He added, cryptically, that he also knows “things that other people don’t know. And so they cannot be sure of the situation.”

Exactly the kind of BS he pulled to keep other racists on the line for his birtherism nonsense. When is the press going to stand up to this clown?

"no computer is safe"

So true. Even though I had a virus buster program installed on my PC, BOOM! a nast bitcoin virus busted right through my virus buster program and demanded I buy bitcoins if I wanted to use my PC again!

"rings in 2017"

I don't know what Trump's new year resolution is, but I know Hillary's - ready? - she will resolve to visit Wisconsin so as to have a fighting chance to win the state in 2020, lol.

Says Twitter in chief... Mr.Trump... you're smart phone? Is a miniature computer.... d'oh

3 ( +6 / -3 )

The IRS computer must be safe. Trump's tax returns must be the best-kept secret on the planet.

When I hear stories like this, it really tells me, the media is so hard up for news, they'll print anything. If the media would be more fair to Trump, they could ask for a proper interview and not have to waste time on something so boring.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

As someone who's been a sound technician in media for years (10? 12? 35?)

Wasn't just the media, but continue, please....

you must know full well how hard it is to get 'a proper interview' with the rich, powerful and famous, especially when they're unwilling to be interviewed and answer any questions.

Especially when they're not getting a fair shake and this doesn't necessarily apply to Trump, I can go off on a list of people that will get up and bail if they feel they are not being treated fairly by the media.

Trump just wants to hide behind his Twitter. Reminds me of 'pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.'

No, Trump just want the media to be fair and not just attack him because he's Trump or a conservative. But it's funny in away, when he was a Democrat, the media loved him and now.... Lol

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Especially when they're not getting a fair shake

Trump's definition and all his sheep's definition of a 'fair shake' is to print only good things about him, even though they are not true. Once one bad thing is said (even if it is true) about him, then WHAM, people like you want to give excuses and say that he doesn't 'get a fair shake'.

In the end, Trump is not working for all Americans, but only those who kiss his *** and say good things about him. Once you bring the truth to his face and it ends up being bad, then you automatically become his enemy.

Computers ARE unsafe. That's why we use Anti-Virus/Internet Security software, yet they are not impervious. And some people have used non-secure, unauthorized devices to transmit and receive information of the most highly classified nature? The cognitive dissonance must be deafening.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Twitter isn't safe either Trumpy. Neither is that hairstyle!

Computers ARE unsafe. That's why we use Anti-Virus/Internet Security software

You might. I use a mac.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Ah, Strange-rland. And you still think that apple products can't be hacked. Tell me, do you not use any kind of firewall or security software? Really?

http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/are-macs-safe-virus-hackers-malware-antivirus-ransomware-bounty-3454926/

"Do Macs get viruses? Do Macs need antivirus software? The short answers are yes, and yes - but it's a bit more complicated than that. In this article we look at the dangers faced by Mac users, and the pros and cons of using Mac antivirus software."

And I use Linux.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

You might. I use a mac.

Even I had to give Strange a thumbs up on that one.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I make my own PCs. LINUX.

The practice is meant to ensure that journalists are on hand to witness, on behalf of the public, the activities of the president or president-elect, rather than relying on secondhand accounts

He would prefer if there is no press to show how stupid he was being.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

And you still think that apple products can't be hacked.

It's extremely hard to hack macs or unix. It takes clicking on sketchy links or attachments to get a virus onto a mac.

Ah, Strange-rland. And you still think that apple products can't be hacked. Tell me, do you not use any kind of firewall or security software? Really?

Really. I never have - and I've been using Macs for almost 10 years. I have done scans periodically, and never found anything.

That said, I'm knowledgeable enough to not open sketchy attachments or the like. If you are, then using protection would make sense, even on a Mac.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

"I don't know what Trump's new year resolution is"

Tweet stupid s###. There's going to be lots of stupid s###, incredible stupid s###, I can't tell you how much stupid s### there will be.

100% agreed.

Just a tad side step...

You buy a Windows computer and you're taking a risk-period. Been using Macs since 1995 and NEVER had a problem with them and would never own anything other than a Mac.

Actually not as hard as you might think, Strange. But in the hacking world, the overwhelming predominance of windows computers makes them a target-rich environment, more bang for the buck. Even few PCs run Linux, and thus far fewer risks.

The point being that in fact Trump is correct, even if not exactly right. McAfee agrees.

It would be the epitome of hubris to think Hillary's server hadn't been accessed, especially as it was not secured. You don't really think that nefarious actors would come out and proudly announce they'd accessed the data, do you? And the FIB wouldn't come out and say that top-level national secrets had been accessed because of it, with the current administration desperately trying to hang on to power, would they? The biggest leaks are internal. Likewise, the DNC leaks were internal.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Actually not as hard as you might think, Strange.

Actually it is. Macs are Unix based, which is notoriously hard to hack, when built well. And Apple builds it well.

Internet security is part of my business - we have a white-hat hacker on staff. I pay to know this stuff.

the overwhelming predominance of windows computers makes them a target-rich environment, more bang for the buck.

That used to be true, but Macs have gained a much larger market share in recent years, enough to make it worth it for hackers to hack them - if they can. What you are describing is security through obscurity, which any security expert will tell you is not true security.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Tend to think the office of the President or the President elect is more important than the than the needs of the Press. Somewhat like deferring to a child's temper tantrum. About computer security, if someone can make the machine and the program then it can be surreptitiously accessed by someone else. If that has not yet happened, then obviously some secrets are not yet worth knowing.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Oh, yeah? Well guess who doesn't trust FDT? The US electorate! They voted for Hillary.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Trump says he doesn't trust computers as he rings in 2017

If Hillary thought this way she might be the president-elect right now.

So we can add luddite to the list of things Trump is?

No idea who deserves credit for this joke (not me):

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him:

"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be an Obama Democrat.

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are -- or where you are going. You've risen to where you are , due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

So we can add luddite to the list of things Trump is?

Yet he Tweeted his way to the presidency. It seems to me that He sees technology as a tool and not an infallible religion.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump says that “no computer is safe” when it comes to keeping information private, expressing new skepticism about the security of online communications his administration is likely to use for everything from day-to-day planning to international relations.

Trump rarely uses email or computers despite his frequent tweeting.

No computer is safe. That's true. Every computer system has to have some kind of anti-virus, anti-whatever, software added for security purposes. I believe Microsoft operating systems are the most popular, and therefore the most likely to be targeted by hackers. Mac OS systems are less popular with both users and as the target of hackers. LINUX, UNIX, etc. are even less popular but are targeted none the less.

He's just upset because all the traitorous Commie spies subverting America who got deported were all his close mates. He still has his Soviet Bloc plagiarizer wife though
