Great news,,,Go trump

Clinton also proposed stricter gun control laws, reiterating previous calls to prohibit people on terrorism watch lists from buying firearms.

The NRA handcuffed Congress and, as a result, those on the "no-fly" list can buy as many guns and as much ammunition as they wish.

“The bottom line is that Hillary supports the policies that bring the threat of radical Islam into America, and allow it to grow overseas,” Trump said.

Donald J. Trump refused to demand limits on the sale, transfer and registration of military grade assault weapons in the States.

In the 150 days remaining in the Presidential Election campaign Americans will ask themselves: Is a racist bigot who refuses to acknowledge the slaughter made possible by military grade weapons rational or irrational and is his mental capacity a clear and present danger to The United States of America.

6 ( +17 / -11 )

So he wants to ban White males from New York, (Tim McVeigh killed 168 people)? Where is Drumpf from? Hey good idea. BUT, he really means non whites. Great way to spread the base.

Donald J. Trump: "He argued that both the president and Clinton were unfit to lead the nation, and said he would expand U.S. intelligence capabilities."

Donald J. Trump, the fascist dictator apprentice.

2 ( +13 / -11 )

The way it looks now, president Trump will be our next president.

Donald J. Trump refused to demand limits on the sale, transfer and registration of military grade assault weapons in the States.

Kc, No one is listening to the gun argument, Obama had 8 years to define radical Jihadism and he did nothing, he has been PC on every issue as well as Hillary, the people are now at a point where they want action taken against homegrown Jihadism in the country and Obama won't call it out for what it is.

The Second Amendment has just been strengthened.

“It’s important that we stop the terrorists from getting the tools they need to carry out the attacks, and that is especially true when it comes to assault weapons like those used in Orlando and San Bernardino,” California, Clinton said, drawing

The no one listening are the thousands who have directly lost loved ones in the slaughter by an insane person bent on killing as many as possible in the briefest period of time. Some cheer that as the intent of the U. S. Constitution. They likely make a profit on that sentiment. Just like the NRA.

"The way it looks now, president Trump will be our next president."

If he is, the newspaper you write for, The Washington Post, could be in for a rough ride.

He's in one of his sulks with them.

“It’s important that we stop the terrorists from getting the tools they need to carry out the attacks, and that is especially true when it comes to assault weapons like those used in Orlando and San Bernardino,” California, Clinton said

Donald J. Trump wants more weapons on mass destruction. Starting with Trump as President.

TRUMP

“when as a nation we are in a position to properly screen these people coming into our country. They’re pouring in, and we don’t know what we’re doing

the Orlando wanker was born in the US. Is Trump saying all first generation citizens should be banned as well? Farook the San Bernardino wanker was also born in the US. A ban is nothing more than a populist appeal to white 'Mericans and has no basis on facts.

The man pays no tax, is a racist,is a bigot, back flips on most topics.Systemic liar, a bully and a thug. It has been predicted to be 3 anti-christs, we have had 2.

said Trump. “I refuse to allow America to become a place where gay people, Christian people, and Jewish people are the targets of persecution and intimidation

Then explain why Donald J. Trump refused to condemn Holocaust Denier David Duke.

@bass the people

Once again you're assuming that right wing reactionary WASPs plus the gun industry and its supporters comprise 'the people'. The US is multicultural and has been since the Spanish first came to settle regions that eventually became the US. The demographics of the country are changing. I understand you're worried about that change - you keep using 'progressive' as a pejorative - but supporting a political candidate who wants to further separate an already seriously fractured nation seems very un-American to me. Many posters here idolize Putin. Most parts of Russia are very white; maybe they should move there if they don't want to live in and assimilate to a multi-cultural society

The name this killer mentioned on the phone, has been an enemy of ISIS .

So, everybody is puzzled.

Trump also lashed out at President Barack Obama by questioning his motives for refusing to use the term “radical Islamic terrorism”

Reasonable Americans refuse to use the term for perfectly valid reasons borne out by Trump's divisive and corrosive campaign.

The kind of ignorant, close-minded, bigoted, xenophobic, racist imbeciles that have lapped up all the garbage that Trump has spewed their way would immediately latch onto any official presidential recognition of "radical Islam"* as license to go nuts enforcing the American white man's version of Christian sharia law on anyone and everyone who might even look like they were from the Middle East.

After 9/11, so-called "patriots" we're attacking and even killing regular Americans they thought might be terrorist waiting to happen, for no other reason than their facial features, their skin color, and perhaps even their choice of clothing. These morons murdered a Sikh man, Balbir Singh Sodhi, because he had a turban on his he'd. A turban, FFS.

And he wasn't the only one. There were 51 confirmed attacks against Americans the assailants thought might be of Middle Eastern descent in the first year after 9/11. Twelve of those attacks, including the murders of Sodhi and two other unrelated Americans who just happened to "look" the part, happened in the first month after the Towers fell alone.

There are hundreds of logged hate crimes against fellow Americans that are linked directly to the anger and fear following 9/11.

It's absolutely no stretch of the imagination to see this same brain trust of ignorant, close-minded, bigoted, xenophobic, racist imbeciles pick up those rifles and handguns they are so fond of and stepping out into the streets in search of vigilante justice steeped firmly in staggeringly blind stupidity.

Americans would die if our leaders started bandying about judgments that labeled an entire religion. And make no mistake, Trump's supporters -- the very same people who are too goddamned stupid to recognize that their proposed candidate is a barely functional illiterate who uses nonsense worlds like "bigly" in interviews -- Trump's supporters absolutely would not possess the reasoning faculties to separate the "radical" from everyday "Islam." Everyone and every mosque would be a fair target to these "freedom lovin'" jackasses.

THAT'S why reasonable Americans don't jump onto the "radical Islam" bandwagon.

We have seen the enemy and he is us.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

kc....very few own military grade weapons. The newest ones are about 20 years old now and they have not been available since. Just thought I would educate you here.

Radical Islamic terror will find the weapons and tools needed to excecute whater heanous crime they are preparing carry out. No weapons ban will stop them. Belgium and Paris are perfect examples of this.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

Dogmatic views of the world be they political, religious or economic have an unfortunate effect, they give the impression that there is only way to path to deal with complex problems.

While being no fan of islam, I find it interesting that its the point people focus on while ignoring the fact that the specific target group of this attack, the LGBT community, is one that is put down and and minimised by elected officials and other community leaders openly in america all the time.

Bass4funk, this time the disgusting excuse for a human happened to align to a islamic group but, home grown, and Christian shooters happen too without question, as this division, them against us conservative rhetoric vs liberal rhetoric continues I sadly see this likely to increase.

So perhaps a more inclusive and protective society would make these ideas of discrimination against a certain group like this an untenable one, meaning no matter the origin of your bigotry taking the step from opinion to action is just too big.

Then there is the guns.. guns don't kill people, sure I'll buy that, but high capacity military style built for human killing weapons sure make it a lot easier doesn't it. Surely some stand down time on purchase, protections, training, tracking, monitoring on these kinds of weapons is a fair start.

And specifically on islam, I agree there are parts, dependant on interpretation, that are just not compatible with equal, safe, democratic societies, however these bad ideas exist in other religions too, the answer is not to say islam, or christianity, or whatever idea is outlawed or banned, just that it is a private matter and society is secular in its nature and law.

On the title of the article, should immigration take extra care when people are coming from regions where instability, extreme ideas are prevalent. Of course that is completely reasonable, but its all in how you say it and how you go about doing it.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Donald J. Trump has tapped into the racists listening to talk radio and Holocaust Denier David Duke's podcasts.

Racists love Trump, he's the only one who will protect their "right" to kill for hate.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

If he is, the newspaper you write for, The Washington Post, could be in for a rough ride. He's in one of his sulks with them.

It'll be ok, the press will do what it needs to do to cover him, you can always go around pulled press credentials, so not a problem.

Once again you're assuming that right wing reactionary WASPs plus the gun industry and its supporters comprise 'the people'.

No. I wasn't implying that at all, I am saying that for millions of Americans (remember, there are non-whites that believe in the Second Amendment as well) that have had it with this government refusing to define the enemy for what it is. Everyone wants to sugarcoat this and call it everything, but radical Jihadism, pure and simple.

I understand you're worried about that change - you keep using 'progressive' as a pejorative - but supporting a political candidate who wants to further separate an already seriously fractured nation seems very un-American to me.

Well, we have a president that used race as a wedge for arguments for the last almost 8 years, refuses to put the country first, is always worried about being PC, defying the constitution, that seems very un-American to me.

Many posters here idolize Putin. Most parts of Russia are very white; maybe they should move there if they don't want to live in and assimilate to a multi-cultural society.

Has nothing to do with the president calling out radical Jihadism. Hey, if anyone doesn't want to live in our country and is afraid of multiculturalism, they shouldn't be here, I agree, but I will go a step further, if you don't want to follow our rules, respect our culture and feel like you can impose your radical beliefs on us, then maybe these people should go somewhere else.

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

In her response to the massacre, the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, warned against demonizing Muslim Americans.

Donald J. Trump wants to make religion the enemy. Too many of his racists want the same thing as long as it means they can kill for hate. Funny, no different from the insane freak who killed with military grade weapons at Orlando.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

White House spokesman Josh Earnest refused to address Trump’s comments directly at a daily news briefing, characterizing Trump’s remarks as “small” in the aftermath of the massacre, and as such, neither he nor Obama would focus on them.

My, that is an entirely appropriate way to deal with this small, pathetic creature.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

There's something inherently wrong with Trump, to use the Orlando tragedy as a political platform to make people suspect Obama of doing something nefarious. Trump is a nefarious con-man, a sleaze artist & the greatest liar in the world. Also a world-class coward.

Trump urges ban on immigration from countries with 'history of terrorism'

How far back does he want to go? Will all Irish need to leave Boston and New York?

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Everyone wants to sugarcoat this and call it everything, but radical Jihadism, pure and simple.

By 'everyone' do you mean 'everyone' who agrees with you? I've suggested you read Lewis Carroll: “When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

As a journalist, you should know that words connote different things to different people and that beliefs shape perceptions and with them how words are understood. I believe President Obama has called out terrorism committed by Muslims; you don't. You've also mentioned you thought Obama has been dividing Americans; I don't. Curious what role you think right wing reactionaries have had in trying to help limit the divide. Do you think right wing reactionaries and white nationalists have had positive or negative contributions?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Secretary Clinton "pointed out that while the Federal Bureau of Investigation was aware of Mateen as a possible threat, he was still able to purchase a gun legally."

Mateen's "rights" were protected by the NRA's dictatorship over the U.S. Congress.

His ego is his own influence.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Donald J. Trump wants to make religion the enemy.

He isn't even talking about banning all Muslims, just a temporary ban on residents from countries with a history of terrorism that want to live here.(think Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria (which actually has a significant Christian population), Pakistan and Syria....).

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Mateen, who was born in the United States

Immigration ban will not help.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Trump stands for an overall strong united posture/measure to radical Islamic terrorists and has been saying that. He identified most of the bombings and killings against the general public in recent decades had been committed by this particular group of people. Trump stance is that to ignore this clear phenomenon is unwise. Many Americans and silent majority people are agreeing with Donald Trump security stance. Liberal and progressive media are too prejudiced in their ideology against him. His call for a temporary ban and "terrorist" profiling/scrutiny on certain groups of people are practical, effective measures. Most average common people are more concerned for safety than media propaganda. Strong focus security measures will send the right signal that basic security of general public is not to be compromised. It may build the right climate to stop terrorism.

If one of your family members is killed by terrorist, what would you think and do?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Trump and his supporters keep saying that their aim is to bring the country together. Something that Obama has supposedly failed to do.

In his own words, Trump is "all talk but no action". How can a person call for unity when he says Mexicans are rapists, muslims are not welcomed in the U.S., black people are not qualified to be presidents, and disrespects women by calling them slobs or pigs? He wants to create this mentality of "us vs them". so most of his rhetoric only seems to apply to white people, especially men. No Trump, this is not how people are brought together. On the contrary, the country will be more divided that ever. Might as well call it the Divided States of America if Trump is elected president.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I think Trump has a point for a change. You don't allow cockroaches in your house, then why allow terrorists?

2 ( +9 / -7 )

He stressed that his proposed ban would be temporary and would last until “when as a nation we are in a position to properly screen these people

Can we do the same for gun sales?

And aren't we already screening? We've been over this probably a dozen times on JT but I still hear Republicans saying that we throw open the gates and don't vet anyone. That tells me the bubble keeps them nice and stupid on this issue. A wall wouldn't have helped, vetting wouldn't have helped, banning Muslims wouldn't have helped. How much do you want to bet that these are Trump's solutions anyway?

“Radical Islam is anti-woman, anti-gay and anti-American,” said Trump. “I refuse to allow America to become a place where gay people, Christian people, and Jewish people are the targets of persecution and intimidation by radical Islamic preachers of hate and violence.”

Um, Donald, you do realize that it's your party who wants special laws so they can deny basic goods and services to homosexuals, right?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

I think Trump has a point for a change. You don't allow cockroaches in your house, then why allow terrorists?

The premise of this comment is ridiculous - Who is saying that terrorists should be allowed in?

This is like saying 'we should not allow murder!'. Of course we shouldn't - and we don't.

Of course Norway - home to Anders Breivik - is included, or does a certain hue of terrorist not count?

You've hit the nail on the head. When Don the Con says he would suspend immigration to the United States from countries “where there is a proven history of terrorism” against the West, what he is leaving unsaid is 'where the people are brown'.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

His call for a temporary ban and "terrorist" profiling/scrutiny on certain groups of people are practical, effective measures.

I don't think it is necessarily the most effective policy but It is practical and will get Trump off on the right foot with a strong message and the right tone. -The president does have the statutory authority to keep anyone out of the country, for any reason he thinks best, which is finally speaking a language that terrorists can understand.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Republican Donald J. Trump now expands from racism and religious prejudice to pure xenophobia.

Now any country Trump doesn't "like" Trump will redline from any consideration.

The Republicans should be proud of their little dictator in chief.

Trump will, at his whim, decided who Trump will bar or persecute, just like his campaign for the Presidency of the United States of America.

The GOP-tea will hand him the crown of dictatorship, no questions asked, at Cleveland.

(Sarah Palin, of course, will be the Trump's choice for Vice President as they both speak the same language. Ignorance and Hate.)

The president does have the statutory authority to keep anyone out of the country, for any reason he thinks best, which is finally speaking a language that terrorists can understand.

Is it true? Does the president have the authority to keep a US citizen who was born in the US away from the US because of his/ her religion? Omar Mateen was born in the US, even though his parents were born in Afghanistan.

Obama-led drone strikes kill innocents 90% of the time: report

Drone strikes conducted by the United States during a 5-month-long campaign in Afghanistan caused the deaths of unintended targets nearly nine out of ten times, leaked intelligence documents suggest.

I didn't think so. You blather on and on about Trump, while giving a pass to the biggest terrorist on the planet, Obama. Your illogic and hypocricy speaks for itself. Peace prize winner....Pfff

A failed immigration system, exploited visa programs, Afghan immigrants to US up 5-fold within a year, Somali refugees in Minnesota have tried to join ISIS, 99% of those immigrants support oppressive Sharia etc . . .

The Don nails it. "We have to control our borders, we have to control them now. Not later. Right now!"

Stop the trojan horse. Stop the islamic refugees from Syria. C'mon everyone, putting pc above common sense / safety is not what America is all about. Go Trump!

Um, Donald, you do realize that it's your party who wants special laws so they can deny basic goods and services to homosexuals, right?

Such as?

I think Trump has a point for a change. You don't allow cockroaches in your house, then why allow terrorists.

Pretty straight forward. Agreed. As Trump is getting closer to the White House, you are really starting to see the angst in the Left growing.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Lots of countries, like Japan, practice this policy, albeit tacitly, so don't get your knickers in a twist, folks.

Europe's terrorism crisis is a direct result of migration patterns over the last 50 years. By managing immigration, you can control terrorism. The two are closely linked, any security expert will tell you that.

"Pointing to specific incidents such as the Sept 11, 2001, attacks, Trump also said threats were posed by people with roots in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Somalia."

Which is actually true.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Monday he would suspend immigration to the United States from countries “where there is a proven history of terrorism

So, France, Britain, Ireland, Belgium . . . Donald J. Trump is urging panic and violence and the Republicans are handing him the endorsement at Cleveland. Shame on the Republican Party. The Party of Lincoln has their Stalin.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

As M3M3M3JUN has just posted there has been another attack And it will continue because Islam is not a religion of tolerance! It is not just in the west that acts of violence are breaking out is it? In Germany, the UK, France, Egypt etc people are being killed for the glory of God!

Not only non Muslims but also Muslims too! No, under the tenets of Islam Muslims are killing Muslims! Mothers and fathers are killing their daughters for exercising the right to self determination! For not covering the body women are being whipped and beaten! The country of Qatar recently jailed a young woman from Europe, fined her and gave her a suspended sentence for being.....drugged and raped! Clearly Islamic values are not Western values Trump is right, Muslims have to be banned until the US can figure out what is going on because at the moment it doesn't know and Americans are dying in droves..........

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Europe's terrorism crisis is a direct result of migration patterns over the last 50 years

50 years ago? To make your argument using that historical marker you're giving the European colonial powers a pass. I'd start the problems when the various empires invaded the countries the migrants are currently leaving. I'd also look at the US (and the Russians before them) invasion of Afghanistan, and of course the recent invasions of the various MENA nations. The US, and NATO nations along with it, have used policies resulting in perpetual wars. They should have known there would be consequences. I'm sorry for peaceful Europeans and sorry for peaceful folks from the invaded nations who have had their lives hurt because of modern colonial states.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Indeed ! Shame on TRUMP for trying to milk votes and divide the population with his populist rethoric on that terrible shooting, not surprising thought.

That would create a whole bunch of jobs jailing humans for their religion.

Ptownsend:

" 50 years ago? To make your argument using that historical marker you're giving the European colonial powers a pass. I'd start the problems when the various empires invaded the countries the migrants are currently leaving. "

Immigration from ex colonies has existed for a long time, especially for the ex colonial powers of UK, France, Belgium and Holland. But there is no direct link between that and the current tsunami of illegal immigration e.g. Afghanistan to Germany. For that matter, Germany had hardly any colonies, and Sweden had none. Also, where is the immigration into the ex colonial power of Turkey??

There are so many holes in that simplistic argument blaming everything and the kitchen sink on "colonialism" that can drive a truck trhough.

The current invasion is combination of Brussels open border policy (and especially Merkels invitation) and the globalist push (think George Soros or Thomas Barnette) to destroy the old nation states.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

I think it's good for Trump to call radical Jihadism for what it is, good on him.

So, France, Britain, Ireland, Belgium . . . Donald J. Trump is urging panic and violence and the Republicans are handing him the endorsement at Cleveland. Shame on the Republican Party. The Party of Lincoln has their Stalin.

I think you meant, Democrats since they were the party that created racism as well as the KKK. Look, Obama had more than 8 years to call out radical Jihadism, he chose not to, that's him, he doesn't care, as long as his personal legacy is not tarnish, Then it's better for him.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

And yet, here he is. The leading presidential candidate. Must be frustrating to see "stupid" people succeed.

Well, he hasn't succeeded yet. But yes, it's extremely frustrating that people are stupid enough to even entertain the idea that he would be good for the country, much less the world.

Do any of you anti-gun people care to explian this?

Obama-led drone strikes kill innocents 90% of the time: report

I'm not really sure what that has to do with anti-guns, but regardless, this number is disgraceful. The single biggest failure of the Obama administration is its continued participation in the middle east, resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocents. I suppose he is just appeasing the war-mongers as best he can - you have to pick your battles. But it's still disgraceful.

The Don nails it. "We have to control our borders, we have to control them now. Not later. Right now!"

I've asked this question multiple times, and received multiple deafening silences in reply: how would closing the borders have stopped this attack in Orlando?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

When mocking Donald J. Trump's Hate is hate, the Republicans win.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

"I'd start the problems when the various empires invaded the countries the migrants are currently leaving."

You mean the Ottoman Empire? Well, that's who ruled the Mideast and most of the other Muslim regions for century and after century....and it was Muslim. The West never colonized the Middle East, apart from Aden, a tiny (and formerly prosperous) speck. The Ottomans instigated misery and genocide on a grand scale that leaves its mark of hatred today. So yeah, you're right. Today's Turks should be held accountable.

By the way, before 9/11 there was basically no "Western intervention" in Muslim regions. Those regions brimmed with hate and intolerance then, just like they are now. The fault of the West was its naivety in believing it could actually make a change there for the better. Should have stayed away.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Germany had hardly any colonies,

But Germany partnered with Turkey in WW1 and after that huge number of Turkish Muslims went to Germany where they currently live, and from what you and others have written remain marginalized. And as you said, Germany did have colonies.

I agree the open borders have been a problem, but my Occam's Razor - simplistic by definition- is colonial powers have been and currently are the primary source of these, among other, problems.

8 years to call out radical Jihadism

He has; he just hasn't used the exact term you want him to use. English is a very complicated language with many ways to say the same thing.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Mr. Trump once again owns the political news cycle here in the States. Ah, You can smell the fear coming from U.S. liberals. . . .

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

The West never colonized the Middle East, apart from Aden, a tiny (and formerly prosperous) speck.

Suggest you re-read history on the post-WW1 divisions of the places that became Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Unless you're saying that all the colonial powers died as empires after WW1 and so by using that definition they're off the hook.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I think it's good for Trump to call radical Jihadism for what it is, good on him.

Yeah! He's going to fix the problem that way.

Trump is playing right into the terrorist's hands. Obviously.

While you're 100% correct, that comment is way to intelligent for his supporters to be able to comprehend.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Trump is not playing into anyone's hand except his own.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Ah, You can smell the fear coming from U.S. liberals. . . .

Agree . . . just look @this thread.

So obama plans to go to Orlando to pay his respects. What mumbo jumbo is he gona spill on them now? He just said recently in an interview, " . . .it appears the shooter was inspired by (uhh) various extremists (uhh) -information over the internet."

Why won't this goofy, lanky, clown just say it? -"Radical Islam."

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

Turns out the shooter may have been a closeted homosexual.

Mateen is said to have used a gay dating app. Kevin West, a regular at Pulse nightclub, said Mateen messaged him on and off for a year before the shooting using the gay chat and dating app Jack’d, according to the LA Times. He also apparently had been seen at the bar at least a dozen times.

His former wife has described his volatile behavior, as have several of his former co-workers - yet he was able to legally purchase to semi automatic assault rifles. After scrutiny by the FBI, he appears to have had no contact with any terrorist organizations or individuals - his only claim to this was a 911 call shortly before he was killed.

These facts all add up to a motive: Mateen was attracted to men but was unable to act on his impulses due to his religion and family circumstances; moreover, despite being mentally unstable, he worked in a job where firearms were common. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that such a situation has ended up tragically; the only unusual point is that the perpetrator was Islamic, not Christian.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Why won't this goofy, lanky, clown just say it? -"Radical Islam."

Right? Doesn't he realize these two words would instantly remove all terrorism from existence, indeed even from the history books? Why can't he see that the solution, the only solution, is to use these two words. That nothing else will stop terrorism?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

LA Times has a story on this, by the way, titled "Orlando gunman had used gay dating app and visited LGBT nightclub on other occasions, witnesses say"

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-orlando-nightclub-shooting-20160613-snap-story.html

One, the Democratic Party of the Deep South is a far cry from the Democratic Party of today, a truth borne out by the fact that modern black Americans vote almost exclusively now for a Democratic Party that would not even let them in during Lincoln's time.

Fast forward to today where where the modern Democratic Party provides a voice to black Americans in a way the modern Republic Party markedly does not. Now, 93 percent of registered black American voters vote Democrat in presidential elections.

In the same way racist Americans of the Confederacy flocked to the Democratic Party as a platform for institutionalized racism, they now look to the modern GOP for a voice -- which politician-come-latelys like Trump are more than willing to provide.

In short, this idiotic, "Democrats are the racist party" bull-puckey needs to stop now. You're an intelligent man and I am not a typical Trump supporter willing to lap up the most ludicrous claims. You and I know perfectly well the parties of Civil War America and modern America are polar opposites now.

Two, nobody creates racism. It's a human construct borne of fear of the different, the unknown, the "Other." There are racists in all corners of society and no one party "creates" that kind of ignorant fear or hatred.

Now, if you were to say the a certain political party fosters or encourages racism, then we could have an interesting conversation. But as your comments stand, not even worth discussing for their sheer ridiculousness.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Racists love Trump, he's the only one who will protect their "right" to kill for hate.

And illegal immigrants, radical muslims hate America. We don't want to kill them. We just don't want them in America if they hate America.

"We have to control our borders, we have to control them now. Not later. Right now!"

Its bad enough we have our everyday criminals. But we CAN stop the Omars, Tashfeens, Boston Marathon bombers, Muhammad Yousefs and other who bang on America's front door.

Why would we want to build bridges with these people? They hate infidels.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

we CAN stop the Omars, Tashfeens, Boston Marathon bombers... and other who bang on America's front door.

Um, you just named a bunch of Americans. They were born inside, no need to knock.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

I'm not really sure what that has to do with anti-guns,

Because violence abroad breeds a culture of violence within. The corporate/bankster/warmongering global interventionists hiding in the closet running my country can't very well take away the people's guns while attacking other countries at the same time. This would cause a revolution and the evil cabal would like to avoid that.

Now let's say some outsider, Trump, will lock the closet doors and never let them out because he knows how evil they are. Start taking care of our own people, rebuild the inner cities, create jobs, stop the inflow of illegal immigrants, make friends and business partners. It's not so hard but the hegomonic cabal confuses everyone with their divisive corporate MSM talking heads that the average person can never see a better future.

Something has GOT to change. Hillary won't do it and we don't have the economic strength for Sanders' ideas IMO.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

do you liberals have any other ideas besides banning muslims!? Should we talk to them and tell them that their religion is wrong? and that it opens the doors to being an extremist? Should we welcome them with love? oh man, come on. Trump is not a racist, hes protecting your butts. If and when Trump becomes president, why not move to Syria? Why not?

so American citizens and residents currently in the united states come first. Any others will have to go through more scrutiny or prohibited from entering the states. My family comes first than a non-American immigrant.

If you had a row of ants going into your house and one of them bit you, would you just get rid of that one or get rid of all of them?

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Um, you just named a bunch of Americans. They were born inside,

But their parents came to america from Islamic countries. They're not "real" americans. Are you sure about Tashfeen? She wasn't born here in USA.

no need to knock.

They're still knocking (other muslims). The question is will be stupid and let them in? Afghan refugees up 5-fold within past year. Those refugees support an oppressive Sharia Law. They do NOT, I repeat -do NOT- belong anywhere near America.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

What I find interesting is that both sides of this debate are not actually very far apart.

We both seem to agree that stupid, hateful and intolerant ideas should be publicly shamed, ridiculed and that intolerance is the one thing that should never be tolerated. The only remaining issue is deciding which ideas are stupid, hateful and intolerant.

The reason that we don't seem to be getting very far is that one side of the argument has nominated Islam as a 'bad' idea, while the other side has responded by nominating Trump's proposal for dealing with Islam as just a second 'bad' idea. Of course, we can judge both of these ideas separately on their merits, but let's not pretend that making the second accusation against the Trumpers is somehow a complete and convincing response to the first.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

do you liberals have any other ideas besides banning muslims!?

Do we have a better idea than one that will make things worse? Yeah, doing the same thing as now is better than doing something that will make things worse

I've asked this question many times already, and no one has answered: How would a ban on Muslims have stopped this attack?

so American citizens and residents currently in the united states come first.

You mean like this guy who just killed all the people? Remember, he was an American citizen and resident.

If you had a row of ants going into your house and one of them bit you, would you just get rid of that one or get rid of all of them?

How would stopping the ants coming into your house prevent the one already inside from biting you?

But their parents came to america from Islamic countries. They're not "real" americans.

By that logic, neither are you. Just ask the natives.

LFRAgain: One, the Democratic Party of the Deep South is a far cry from the Democratic Party of today, a truth borne out by the fact that modern black Americans vote almost exclusively now for a Democratic Party that would not even let them in during Lincoln's time.

Yeah, it might be about time to retire this GOP myth. It's been around for a while on JT. I just really didn't have the energy to say anything sooner.

The parties changed around the time of The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which angered white southerners (Democrats). They voted for Goldwater and then Nixon built upon that with his "Southern strategy." In short, the GOP strategized to capture the racist vote away from Democrats and were tremendously successful. They have been there ever since.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I've asked this question many times already, and no one has answered: How would a ban on Muslims have stopped this attack?

It would not have stopped the attack. But a temp ban until they are properly vetted send a strong message. Plus it might deter future immigrants and their offspring (who will most likely be born in USA) from happening.

But their parents came to america from Islamic countries. They're not "real" americans.

They're not real americans. They didn't build it, settle it for generations and truly appreciate it.

By that logic, neither are you. Just ask the natives.

(Me. I got a little native blood.) I eat pork. I consume alcohol. I fornicate. I celebrate xmas, 4th of July, and enjoy the freedom America offers. I have served. And I stand-up proudly during the National Anthem when I'm @Angel Stadium with my hot dog and baseball cap . . . .

Everything I've just mentioned goes against Islam. That's why they should just "keep out."

I've asked this question multiple times, and received multiple deafening silences in reply: how would closing the borders have stopped this attack in Orlando?

The immigration ban has nothing to do with Orlando case. Omar Mateen was a US born US citizen.

Those who support Trump's immigration policy are just using this tragedy to promote discrimination against US citizens based on parents' national origin.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

"Trump urges ban on immigration from countries with 'history of terrorism" Good thing, then, that you can't immigrate from America to America...

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If one watches Trump's speeches rather than rely on quotes and sound bites in the media, it is much easier to understand his attractiveness to so many people (and a growing number at that). Obama and Clinton have failed, we might like what they say but they are absolutely ineffective. Donald Trump should win unless the US wants to continue the downward spiral. The USA is on its last legs, time for change.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

I watched Sen Bill Nelson (D) of Florida on CNN last night. In response to trumps statements on preventing future islamic terrorism on US soil the good senator's response was , now is not the time for that kind of talk, now is the time for healing and coming together. Yes,it was stomach turning. I think a significant number of "progressives" are going to secretly vote for Trump. The more thoughtful among them know the time for do-nothing, feel-good hypocrisy has long passed.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Wc626, I really think you and Mr Trump are onto something here.Stop them coming in- and those so called 'home grown' terrorists, whose parents or grandparents came here- we need to stop them, too. I think we need to put them in some kind of camp, or place where we can check up on them- just until we can figure out what the hell is going on. Anyway, it's for their own protection, you know- real Americans are pretty angry about the libtard/ PC/ LGBT/black lives matter world we've got now- and real American Patriots have a hell of a lot of guns and quite obviously are not scared of using them! These colors don't run! And we should mark their businesses somehow- because you know they're sending the money back to those countries to finance more attacks on the greatest country in the world ever. They should all wear some kind of identification, too, just so we can keep an eye on them, maybe a tattoo or something. These common sense reforms are going to be expensive though, so we're going to have to seize their assets, make them pay for it, I say. Start with their cash and their businesses- and if we run out of money we can just melt down the gold in their teeth.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Donald Trump should win unless the US wants to continue the downward spiral.

And you're able to say the downward spiral will somehow change if he's elected? Based on what? On Trump's presidency? Have you looked into his failed businesses and bankruptcies? His 3,000+ lawsuits? His bait and switch Trump U? His attacks on people who disagree with him? The grudges he holds with those who disagree with him?

Based on your faith in him? You have faith, like all religions demand their followers have, in Don the con? Faith: the purposeful suspension of critical thinking.

You do understand, I assume, that this power hungry narcissist would arguably be the most powerful person in the world, competing for control with other power hungry narcissists like Putin and Xi, and would have access to the red button. Trump has been part of the US financial establishment, a member of the global ruling class, the .01%, for decades and has been a prime contributor to the country's and world's problems. He's using the old colonial power's approach to dividing people. And peopleactually have faith in him?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The problem with Trump here is the US is a very large supporter of terrorism. The Attorney General (Chief Justice) knowingly and openly admits to running guns into Mexico thru the FBI (Projekt Fast and Furious).

Wackenhut shed its name and became G4S, members included former FBI director Clarence Kelley, former Defense secretary and CIA deputy director Frank Carlucci, former Defense Intelligence Agency director Gen. Joseph Carroll, former Secret Service director James J. Rowley, former Marine commandant P.X. Kelley, former CIA deputy director Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, and previous to becoming CIA director, William J. Casey as outside legal counsel. “The company’s board of directors reads like a who’s who of the intelligence community,” Joel Bleifuss wrote for In These Times in 1991. “The 1980s were a decade of privatization. As a for-profit intelligence service, Wackenhut appears to have taken on the kind of work that in earlier years the FBI and CIA would have done (and still do), albeit illegally.” Casey is of particular interest. As the director of the CIA during the Reagan years, he revitalized covert operations from Central America to Afghanistan. He was a central player in the Iran-Contra affair. During his tenure, Casey “lunged into covert operations with tireless ambition. With President Reagan’s support, Casey’s CIA supported the Afghan rebels against the Soviet incursion,” writes Robert Nash (Spies: A Narrative Encyclopedia of Dirty Tricks and Double Dealing from Biblical Times to Today). The Afghan rebels became al-Qaeda and the Taliban. “For years, Wackenhut has been involved with the CIA and other intelligence organizations, including the Drug Enforcement Agency. Wackenhut would allow the CIA to occupy positions within the company in order to carry out clandestine operations,” terrorism expert and CIA analyst, William Corbett, told SPY Magazine in 1992. “It is known throughout the industry,” retired FBI special agent William Hinshaw told the magazine, “that if you want a dirty job done, call Wackenhut.” On its face, the fact Mateen worked for G4S, a reformatted Wackenhut, does not mean he was involved in covert activity. However, as I noted yesterday, some of people he associated with are known to have worked for the CIA and the FBI. Mateen was a follower of Marcus Dwayne Robertson, a former US Marine who acted as a bodyguard for the “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdul-Rahman. Robertson was the imam of the Orlando -based Fundamental Islamic Knowledge Seminary. In addition to working with the CIA, he was an FBI informant for 15 years. He is linked to al-Qaeda and the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993.

Omar Mateen is "dirty" -do not believe the "gay" and "single-shooter" or even "muslim" storylines.

I am ashamed that my country has even considered such a fool to be suitable for president. As for his followers, well... there is a lowest common denominator in every society. Thankfully his followers represent a noisy small segment of our society. In the general election he has something like a 26% national approval rating. Sadly the DEM candidate HRC is not liked much more. But she has the backing of the status quo people who will certainly see that this buffoon Trump is not elected.

His followers should get used to the idea of disappointment now and save themselves a shock on election day.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Hilary has the backing of the status quo people alright. And thats what you'll get from a Hillary presidency - including more chaos-inducing interventions/activities in the Middle East.

Ptownsend:

" Trump has been part of the US financial establishment, a member of the global ruling class, the .01%, for decades and has been a prime contributor to the country's and world's problems. "

Actually, it is Hillary who is sold part of the corrupt political establishment. That is why it is so refreshing to see no one but two non-establishment candidates this time.

By the same token, if either Sanders or Trumps wins, you can expect some serious backroom talk with the deep state, where they get to hear that either play by the rules or else. If not, then say a catastrophic engine failure on a Trump jet would not surprise me in the least.

What is truly mind-boggling to see is people claiming that Hillary Clinton is somehow an outsider and representative of the ordinary populace.... good grief, that makes one want to go out there and sell Brookly Bridges.

" He's using the old colonial power's approach to dividing people. And peopleactually have faith in him? " So your name-calling of Hillary opponents is not "dividing people"?? In the event, I see nothing wrong in a confrontational discussion. But claiming that only one side does that is quite dishonest.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

It is impressive that no matter how many times it's being said the shooter was a US national, people still try to make it about the "right now" immigration. This guy was a crazy person using extreme ideology as an excuse to kill people that made it hard for him to accept himself. Banning muslims from entry does not stop the ideologies from coming in, and it doesn't stop people with problems to attach onto them. Lets not forget Spain, France, Ireland and the UK's problems with their own terrorist groups, all white and mostly christian. (And by Trump's own words, I suppose, uneligible to enter US)

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Cleo, I'd give you more thumbs up if I could. Sadly, the man's religious is obscuring for the more obtuse the causes of this tragedy. These causes will be clarified as investigation continues, but his religion was likely so peripheral as to be inconsequential; i.e., such a mentally ill human as he might have committed the same act regardless of religious affiliation.

Frankly, it seems to me that in this case, more attention should be given to closeted gays with anger management problems (perhaps bar them from the country?), but that does not have the same ring to it as "Ban Muslims!" But sheep will be sheep.

No, it does not. And if you mean the Red Armee, you should not that their ideology was considered, discussed, and addressed. I don´t recall people going round and telling us that vast majority of communists are peaceful and that we must not discriminate against them because of a tiny number of misundestanders of peaceful communism, and that all ideologies are the same. Or did we now?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@VilliB Actually, it is Hillary who is sold part of the corrupt political establishment

And Trump is, too. I'm fully aware who HRC is and what her background is. I'll use the right wing's darling D Rumsfeld's 'known known' to describe her. I'm no fan of her Wall Street connections and she's not my first choice for president, but she's starting to look good to me in comparison with Trump.

I sincerely believe HRC wants to make the US a more inclusive nation. The US is a multi-cultural society and for it to survive needs to ensure all its people have something close to equal access to opportunities. I think she'll be willing to take on the Tea Party and their ilk to try to make changes that benefit more people, not just those who support the right wingers in Congress.

Trump's a political known-unknown who's said so many contradictory things I have no idea where he stands on any issue except making more guns more easily available and 'building a wall'. He's appealing to a very large percent of the US population that's historically taken stands that are divisive. Read some of the JT posts to get the Trump supporter's attitudes toward non-WASP's and the LGBT community. We'll find out come November if the white nationalists are the majority in the US.

When it comes to foreign relations Trump's a known-unknown who so far has shown he's a loose lipped cannon (with fake orange hair). You want his finger on the button? I don't. I know the US is on the decline, but do you seriously want a man who says he's going to break the US system but has NOTHING to replace it with? Once again, that's what Bush 43 did in Iraq? How's that worked out?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Trump should have just said "A ban on all immigration" rather than specifying Muslims. Needs to be shut down all together for the time being.

@PTownsend,

I think it is Hillary that has been the hypocrite. Clinton has done nothing for the LGBT community, inner city, impoverished people of the US during her time as a politician. Shes talking trash and people are eating it up. People are catching on though. Not sure you keep bringing up white nationalists. Most blacks voted for Obama and women are voting for Hillary. Thats ok though as the assault on the white male is continues.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Japan has a history of terrorism as well, does that rule us out?

Nope. Only brown people.

So what you are saying is, they want Blacks in chains again? How absurd.

Something like 1/5 of Trump supporters think slavery shouldn't have been abolished. So the comment isn't that absurd.

Thats ok though as the assault on the white male is continues.

As a white male, I've never felt assaulted even once by Obama or Hillary. The people who make comments like this generally feel that others trying to become equal to white people means that they are assaulting white male rights (aka privilege).

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So... that mean every country in the world??

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Thats ok though as the assault on the white male is continues.

I'm a white male. I've worked and lived in several countries around the world, including 4 states in the US. I have been treated well everywhere I have been throughout my life. I've had access to opportunities that women and non-white males haven't. I have had white male privileges and still do. Sorry you haven't been able to take advantage of your white male privileges. If you feel victimized, you might consider joining a support group. Even if HRC wins you'll still have more privileges than non-whites and women.

Right, WilliB - that's why there is such outrage at Christians, seeing as that is the religion of the majority of mass shooters in the United States. /end sarcasm

Seriously, if the shooter had been Christian acting in the name of his faith who called out that he was acting in the name of the Pope just before he died (think anti-abortion terrorists), would the United States condemn Catholicism and the Holy See and seek to ban Catholics and other Christians from the US? Of course not - don't be silly.

Trump's reaction is completely out of scale with this event, and that is saying alot, this being the greatest mass-killing ever perpetrated in America. The reason why it is out of scale is that it does nothing to address the true causes and thus does nothing to effect positive solutions. Instead, Trump simply seeks to sacrifice all that is good and great about the United States on the alter of the Second Amendment.

If the door had been closed 30 years ago, this shooting by Omsr Mateen 29 could have been prevented. 30 years ago was 1986 when Berlin wall was still standing and Reagan administration was actively supporting Muslims in Afghanistan to drive out Soviet army from that country.

If the door is closed now, it will take 30 years to see whether it worked. Is this what they call "temporary" closing? One thing that is sure is that Donald Trump is dead by the time for evaluating his policy.

pointofview:

" Trump should have just said "A ban on all immigration" rather than specifying Muslims. Needs to be shut down all together for the time being. "

No he should not. There is no issue with e.g. Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist immigration. You do not HIndus forming segregated commjnities rejecting integration and insisting that their religious laws should be superior to the laws of the host country. E.g. the Hindu community in the UK is one on the best integrated and educated in the UK where there is a long history of immigration from the continent. So now we're down to this:

If In San Bernardino, people knew what was going on, they knew exactly, but they used the excuse of racial profiling for not reporting it. ... If can be proven that somebody had information about any attack, and did not give this information to authorities, they must serve prison time.

This was in the context of neighbors - that they must have known something was up yet didn't alert the authorities. Trump continued:

People move into a house a block down the road, you know who’s going in. You can see and you report them to the local police. Most likely you’ll be wrong, but that’s OK. That’s the best way. Everybody’s their own cop in a way.

Cool! So you meet your new neighbors and say, "Hi! Wonderful to meet you! By the way, I'll be watching you - no offence, but if I don't, I could go to jail - but hey! Let's barbecue! But just remember, I'm watching you as per law."

Sounds like Trump needs a stint at Trump University. I'd recommend he study cultural anthropology, starting with his own family history. And, during his studies, pay close attention to his mother, an immigrant to the U.S. and his father, the son of immigrants to the U.S.

As a registered independent voter, I almost feel bad for the DNC leadership as I watch them attempting to defend Muslims by attacking Constitution as a response to the carnage by an ISIS supporter in Orlando.

As long as the Democrats are in denial to call radical Jihadism for what it really is and pivot the blame to guns, we will always be in danger and gun sales will go up. Everyone knows the majority of Muslims don't support Sharia or radical Jihadism, but If liberals can shift the focus to guns, it is the one issue they know where they can get an emotional response.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

"Does Trump even realize that his mother was an immigrant, as is his first wife Ivana?"

Yes. His main beef is with ILLEGAL immigrants. See the difference?

"And if I'm not mistaken, his current wife is originally from Slovenia"

That's why, due to the dumb U.S. law that forbids non-natural born U.S. ciizens from running for president, Melanie cannot be the first female U.S. president, but Manhattan-born daughter Ivanka could be the first female U.S. president after one or two terms of Donald.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

As long as the Democrats are in denial to call radical Jihadism for what it really is and pivot the blame to guns, we will always be in danger and gun sales will go up.

Yep. We'd have world peace if only the dems would use the words 'radical jihadism' and made it law that everyone had to be armed with their own personal automatic machine gun from the age of three.

World peace.

Everyone knows the majority of Muslims don't support Sharia or radical Jihadism, but If liberals can shift the focus to guns, it is the one issue they know where they can get an emotional response.

Exactly. This was true during the terrorism in San Bernardino. Everyone (libs) and their mother blasted guns instead of blasting Tashfeen Malik & her hubby. Even Hillary and Bernie came out blasting gun violence when they initially commented on San Bern.

Notice this time, though, Hillary kinda' kept quiet until Obama confirmed it was indeed an act of terror.

They can get many responses by simply calling Trump a racist too.

In the video, which was posted early Monday morning and later removed, Mateen said that his son's actions are not supported by Islam, but he also suggested that the victims of the attack — the deadliest mass shooting in US history — deserved to be punished by a higher power.

"The punishment for homosexuality is upon God and he will decide on them not humans," Mateen said.

As long as the Democrats are in denial to call radical Jihadism for what it really is

bass, I don't fully understand this argument. I've heard Clinton explaining her position on this. While I don't fully agree with her reasoning, she makes it clear that she is against and willing to target extremist, violent Muslims or any other extremist group who use religion as its rationale. What's wrong with that? Her argument is that the phrase "radical islam" may give the image that the USA is at war with a religion.

My own view is different. I think of "radical Islam" as women going to prayers in mini-skirts, or Allah being declared an extra-terrestrial super-being. I don't see ISIS as radical in the slightest - almost the opposite by waging violence in the name of their interpretation of ancient documents - a kind of fundamental conservatism. But that's me.

Are you not making too big an issue of this? All the mainstream politicians are against ISIS and similar violent groups. Does what we call them make any difference? It's surely what we do about them.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Everyone knows the majority of Muslims don't support Sharia or radical Jihadism, but If liberals can shift the focus to guns, it is the one issue they know where they can get an emotional response.

Bass, weren't you just yesterday saying that if Muslim Americans are really reasonable people, they should accept being treated as second class citizens? Here you seem to acknowledge the majority of Muslims AREN'T bad people, but you seem to have no problem taking away their rights. Am I wrong?

bass4funkJun. 13, 2016 - 03:51PM JST

No, no. We still have a valid point. Ever heard of unintended consequences? What might be the message be to the 99.99999% of Muslims Americans living peacefully amongst us? If Islam is a tolerant religion, then the law abiding majority Muslims would understand.

Everyone knows the majority of Muslims don't support Sharia or radical Jihadism, but If liberals can shift the focus to guns, it is the one issue they know where they can get an emotional response.

Aren't you precious. Not entirely sure what Muslims/Sharia law has to do with gun control, but it is very clear that you are more than content to treat Muslim Americans like second class citizens as long as you get to keep your guns. Don't ever talk about Bass' guns- that's off limits!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Are you not making too big an issue of this?

Of course. It's one of those talking points that Republicans use when they think they've found something that means something. It's just another Benghazi.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Yes. His main beef is with ILLEGAL immigrants. See the difference?

Serrano: So Trump should have no problems with LEGAL Muslim immigrants, and by your logic then, he should have no beef with the shooter in this incident, as he was legally born in the U.S.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The proposed ban on Muslim immigrants had already been rejected by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and the overwhelming majority of Republicans in Congress. But House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said again he wouldn't support it, and that he had no interest in seeing it get a vote.

McCarthy, like other Republicans, also rejected Trump's suggestion that Obama should resign over the Orlando shooting

"[Trump] just blows up everything we want to do," said a senior GOP lawmaker

Hello Hillary (Thanks, trump, what a guy). Hey Trump voters, are you sure he's going a good thing for your political party?

"think we need to put them (Muslims) in some kind of camp, or place where we can check up on them" - comments

A previous comment, from a Trump supporter, confirms the idea that Concentration Camps are part of the mentality of those who see Trump as their next President.

The Republican Party is now infected with a racist band of thugs' malignant cancer of hate and placing those of the Muslim faith in Concentration Camps. (see quote above)

The real issue, then, is, what is the response from Republicans in Cleveland?

Trump has baited and stoked hatred since beginning his campaign to "Make America Hate Again".

How many members of Congress are ready to carry that baggage into Cleveland for Trump's coronation of hate?

Ptownsend:

" Actually, it is Hillary who is sold part of the corrupt political establishment And Trump is, too. "

I don´t think so. When did he appear on the political scene? Clearly, he is not immersed in the political smoky backroom cloud like you-know-who. Consider that he does not depend on sponsors for his funds and is thus not beholden to them. Consider also how the entire political establishment, including the republican, hates him. Clearly he is something they don´t know how to deal with.

" I'm fully aware who HRC is and what her background is. "

And you STILL want that woman in the White House? Mind-boggling.

" I sincerely believe HRC wants to make the US a more inclusive nation. "

I don´t even know what is supposed to mean. It is one of those fuzzy-warm slogans that sound great but are not defined.

" The US is a multi-cultural society and for it to survive needs to ensure all its people have something close to equal access to opportunities. "

They have that already. What some groups, e.g. Clintons muslim supporters want, is special privileges.

" Trump's a political known-unknown who's said so many contradictory things "

And Clintons political knowns should scare the bee-jeesus out of you, You want more illegal interventions on behalf of Jihadis like in Libya? You want more out-of-control globalism? More destruction of nation states and submission under a corrupt UH dictatorship? More sloshing of jobs to the cheapest location? More relaization of George Soros and Thomas Barnettes new world order? War with Russia?

From what I can make out between the smoke of campaign slogans, Trump is wants to reign in the globalists, and Clinton is their pocket.

"Kc, love the posts, but if you read all of that post, its cuttingly ironic." - comments

(reference" The claim Concentration Camps for Muslims are an initial step Trump fans cheer.)

The careful reader understands the point in the quoted comment above.

In contrast, fans of Donald J. Trump don't.

That's not ironic.

That is the mirror of their own hate they see in Donald J. Trump.

No one is laughing.

Trump's reply to over one hundred human beings being shot by a deranged killer armed with military grade weapons of mass destruction is the demand for prejudice and hate for the Muslim faithful.

While the call for Concentration Camps is sick and disgusting, the original comment 'buries the lead' in newspaper parlance.

However, the quote above demands appropriate care in understanding complex issues. Point taken.

He got this far. I don't know how much popcorn you went through but, 10 months ago all you posters would've laffing ur-asses off if I'd told you he would be the Grand Old Party's nominee. Clinton won -but we saw that a mile away.

The poster is pointing out how Trump's policies bare an uncanny resemblance to Nazi Germany's.

Don't worry . . . a few terrorist will be smacked around and waterboarded if they're captured. As far as gassing all muslims or throwing them into ovens, it won't happen. Those methods are unsound.

Barring them, banning them, restricting them, deporting them and investigating (the moderates and radicals, domestic / foreign) them is far more humane. This is what Trump wants to do. Not kill them.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Donald, you got my vote. Make these countries take responsibility for actions of their citizens.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Hillary has a lot of blood on her hands. She was the one who pushed obama into ousting Gadaffi - resulting in Gaddafi"s brutal murder in the street (which Hillary laughed about - its on film) and Libya thrown to the radical Islamists. Oh, btw, Gadaffi had renounced terrorism years before and was fighting his own war against radical Islamists. Sweet Hillary.

And that is obviously reciprocated for radical islam's never ending hatred of the US.

Care to rectify that statement with this:

Everyone knows the majority of Muslims don't support Sharia or radical Jihadism, but If liberals can shift the focus to guns, it is the one issue they know where they can get an emotional response.

Exactly

Astounding. Now let's go a step further:

Darn right we do. Who's gona protect our borders and way of life, Obama?

Oh, so you think this guy will? The orange marshmallow man knows literally nothing about the middle east and foreign policy, and instead of trying to answer he accuses yet another journalist of asking 'gotcha questions.':

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9puLBIX48M

There is no way in hell this bigot will "protect our way of life."

He got this far.

In Republican primaries. He won't get that far with the average American voter and he has a way with words. Can't wait to see him step in it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

the systematic smearing and stiffling of dissidents by the Regressive Left has a much closer resemblence to that

Care to site an example? Note: speaking the truth and pointing out one's bigotry is NOT smearing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

And that is obviously reciprocated for radical islam's never ending hatred of the US.

Its true. ISIS hates America. OBL hated America. What's there to rectify?

My statement says, "radical islam's never ending . . ." Bass' statement says, "Muslims do not support . . . "

Oh, so you think this guy will?

I don't know. But based on his tough stance and tone, he sounds more convincing than Hillary . . . .but even she's an old hawk too. She learned from Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld . . . so she might have a few tricks up her sleeve to throw out @Terrorism. Let's roll the dice.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I don't know. But based on his tough stance and tone, he sounds more convincing than Hillary . . . .but even she's an old hawk too

His tough stance? When has Don the Con ever taken a tough stance? The conman can't even take a little joke about his sausage fingers. Talk tough? He'll say whatever you want as long as you like him, rub his belly, and feed him table scraps.

He is a populist and nothing more. One day its, "American's make too much and so we are not competitive with other guns," and the next its "American wages need to raise, its not enough." First he is for gun control, now he isn't. First it was taxes are too high- cut taxes, now its "we rich folks should and are willing to pay in taxes. First its "frankly, women should be punished for having abortions," and next "women shouldn't be punished for having abortions." Well, which is it?

Is Don a bigot or not? Frankly I do not, and if you are honest you would probably say the same. The man changes his mind time and time again- even over the course of the election cycle. He and his supporters must realize that being POTUS is arguably the toughest, most important job in the world. So, Don has got to have some cajones. If you think women should be punished for having abortions, then fine. If you are not for gun control, then fine. If you think Americans make too much money, then fine. But at least have the cajones to defend your position.

Do not attack those journalists who are asking you tough questions, its like getting angry at a job interview because the interviewer had the nerve to ask you a tough question. Say what you mean, mean what you say, and defend your position.

But you see, he doesn't do this. This is precisely why he is weak and I do not for one minute believe he has a snowballs chance of being an effective leader. Don is not tough, and no, banning Muslims, even temporarily will do nothing to prevent terrorism.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Don is not tough, and no, banning Muslims, even temporarily will do nothing to prevent terrorism.

Its better than nothing. What do we do? Just let anyone into our country shouting "god is great?" Allow Sharia and our entire workforce to pray in Mecca's direction 5 times per day? No thanks . . . they can go to live on the other side of the globe for that.

Talk tough? He'll say whatever you want as long as you like him, rub his belly, and feed him table scraps.

Yeah. He's very entertaining. Character, common sense and not beiing too "pc" can go a long way in the world. That & tons of cash.

Much has been written in these comments.

Little has been learned by too many here.

Some seem bent on a return to George W. Bush's 'yellow cake wars'. The seven trillion spent for profiteers accomplishing nothing except the justification of beheadings seems appealing to Donald J. Trump as well.

The only thing the international reader learns is while an insane person in the States must wait only three days to have his handgun, there is no waiting period, or limit on ammunition, for the military grade assault weapon he used to shoot over one hundred innocent people.

(Of course, the NRA has now announced, in their blood money lust cheered by so many here, no laws can be changed or enacted that could prevent future insane folk from repeating this slaughter. The NRA calls that Freedom, with a hefty price tag they enjoy buying Legislators in Washington and State Capitols across America.)

The other thing the international reader learns is Donald J. Trump will use this gun massacre to justify religious hatred and urge Americans to violence.

The Republican Party has their candidate for the Office of the President of the United States.

So too, the disgusting followers of Trump, who have spent no thought on the hundred plus victims, well, because they were at a gay club, so they don't count.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

"Subsequent occupation of what became Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Jordan"

The point is, the modern day intervention the left blames for today's Islamic violence was basically non-existant ahead of 9/11, the worst single incident of all, making it a false narrative.

Speaking of false narratives, do you why there was a temporary "occupation" at the time in the early 20th century? There was tiny incident at the time called "World War 1," (which the left narrative also handily omits) and the Muslim rulers of those lands decided to declare war on France and Britain, who had earlier offered them neutrality. As the Muslims rulers' empire collapsed, they instigated 3 genocides. I suggest you read about it, as I have done. Look up "World War 1."

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Note: speaking the truth and pointing out one's bigotry is NOT smearing.

From one perspective this statement is 100% correct. From another it is 100% false. In the context of this national discussion both the concept of "truth" and "bigotry" are entirely subjective. It all depends on who is looking at it and what lens they are looking at it through.

Trump urges ban on immigration from countries with 'history of terrorism'

Come one Japan Today - this headline is a joke. Trump is not suggesting a ban on Muslim immigration. You even quote him saying that he wants a "suspension" from countries that have a (current) history of terrorism. Yet somehow the headline states that he wants a flat out ban. This is just poor journalism. Report the news - don't make it up.

And they are ethnically the same as Pakistanis.

You have got to be joking my friend. You cannot be from the UK. One of the major reasons why the UK has suffered from too much immigration and lack of integration is, I am sorry to say, down to the Indian Hindu and Sikh communities completely shutting up shop. They only married fellow Hindu's or Sikh's from back home (who immediately got themselves British passports), they do not attend British church, and they only socialise in their own religious communities. No different to the same issue with Muslims from Pakistan.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@Strangerland, PTownsend,

You both missed the point. Apparently it`s ok for blacks to vote for Obama, women to vote for Hillary but not white men for Trump. The white male issue seems to brought up a lot on the news yet look at the black vote and women vote.

@WilliB,

Yes it should. No immigration. Enough people in the country starting over, out of work and social programs out of control. ATM, no need. Religion or race have no bearing on the matter.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Apparently it`s ok for blacks to vote for Obama, women to vote for Hillary but not white men for Trump.

What a weird comment - anyone can vote for anyone they want. That's how the democratic process works.

As for voting for Trump, I can't think of a stupider thing to do, no matter what color, sex, or religion you are. He will destroy the country.

I think this new approach is an improvement on the previously proposed 'test' for immigration, the temporarily ban on all Muslims.

Maybe we could make this a condition, Any country where homosexuality is a capital offense need not apply. Clean up your mess first. Show us that you are civilized then we can talk.

There are probably several other such tests but in honor of the victims in Orlando I'll just start there.

Laguna:

" Seriously, if the shooter had been Christian acting in the name of his faith who called out that he was acting in the name of the Pope just before he died (think anti-abortion terrorists), would the United States condemn Catholicism and the Holy See and seek to ban Catholics and other Christians from the US? "

Sure as hell they would. ESPECIALLY if there was an ongoing pattern of this, and if religious Christian leaders were openly calling for holy war and Old Testamentarial Law, and the shooters were routinely shouting "Yahweh" is great.

Thanks for demonstrating the difference. Maybe you re-consider your talking points now?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

This situation seems pretty unprecedented. The combination of technology and barbaric ideology is proving a pretty significant threat. There will be no easy solution. In my opinion the solution should come from within Islam. Moderate Muslims can distance themselves all they want for the terrorist. (And I do believe the vast majority want the terrorists to stop). But too many mainstream Muslims support the ideological positions of the extremists. There needs to be a reformation of some kind. Muslims need to clean house and resolve this mess.

In my opinion it is a huge mistake for the west to act as if the problem is a small handful of extremists. If an immigration ban is right or not is hard to say. But talking about it might get everyone to own up to what is really going down in the Muslim world. Something needs to change.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Why did Trump mention Mateen's parents being from Afghanistan, as if putting a ban right now would have prevented the Orlando tragedy? His parents migrated here before Afghanistan was associated with terrorist attacks on the West, therefor putting a current ban would not have prevented the Orlando tragedy anyway. This disconnected logic said only to placate those with Islamophobia is not a solution; all the terrorist attacks in the past few years are done by those born in America. These people were raised in America. Children of immigrants, yes; but not the immigrants themselves.
