Its hard to know how good or bad Tillerson will be BUT, one thing is for sure: he has more presence, is a better speaker, is smarter, is polished and professional. He is NOTHING like Trump or his people. Trump will be threatened by Tillerson -- my bet is he won't last. Trump WISHES he was like Tillerson --- heck, don't we all!

Seems like the US is playing good-cop bad-cop.

Well done with the lifting of sanctions on the Russian Intelligence service on your first day

I'm not sure how Russia's putative 'free press' is reporting this (or if they've been given permission to to so) but in reading different news outlets online at this point (when I last checked) the US Treasury Dept was reported to have eased some restrictions on cybersecurity transactions. Whatever that means. Trump is reported, however, to have said 'I'm not easing anything.'

Again, was Trump being lighthearted? Sarcastic? Were his words taken out of context? Was the reporting of what he said a fake news story? Was he flat out lying? Or perhaps he hasn't been given permission yet by Putin to speak.

You don't see these two nations bending over like Japan is, that's for sure. At least Tillerson, horrible as he is, has modicum of intelligence to call and try and smooth things over slightly.

“I know this was a hotly contested election and we do not all feel the same way about the outcome, each of us is entitled to expression of our political beliefs, but we cannot let our personal convictions overwhelm our ability to work as one team,” said Tillerson.

The above statement from Tillerson is like a breath of fresh air compared to the stink coming from the rest of the Trump regime.

I agree with what CrazyJoe said. Trump will feel threatened, and Tillerson's days are numbered.

Stabbing you softly with our song.... Wonder how long it will take for me to memorize all the names in this crew. Who has all of Obama's on the tip of their tongue?

In the most startling shift, the White House issued an unexpected statement appealing to the Israeli government not to expand the construction of Jewish settlements beyond their current borders in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Such expansion, it said, “may not be helpful in achieving” the goal of peace.

At the United Nations, Ambassador Nikki R. Haley declared that the United States would not lift sanctions against Russia until it stopped destabilizing Ukraine and pulled troops out of Crimea.

On Iran, the administration is preparing a set of economic sanctions that are similar to what the Obama administration imposed just over a year ago. The White House has also shown no indication that it plans to rip up Mr. Obama’s landmark nuclear deal, despite Mr. Trump’s withering criticism of it during the presidential campaign.

Tillerson wll be a far better Secretary of State than Hillary or Lurch was.

Crazy:"Its hard to know how good or bad Tillerson will be BUT, one thing is for sure: he has more presence, is a better speaker, is smarter, is polished and professional. He is NOTHING like Trump or his people."

Uh, Crazy, Tillerson IS one of Trump's people.

Plenty of career employees have indicated that they are less committed to doing their job in a nonpartisan manner and only interested in carrying out the Democrat parties agenda. If they are unwilling to carry out the new presidents policies then they should quite or be fired. At some point Trump will need to clean house anyway. Better now than latter.

You claim to have read a variety of reporting on this, yet somehow you don't know that even Obama administration officials approve that sanctions action Trump took? It had to do with unintended consequences - because the FSB or whatever also has regulation authorities in Russia in addition to whatever connection to intelligence work they have, the sanctions as they were had the unintended consequence of preventing American companies from selling cellphones or any other commercial device with encryption in Russia. If you truly read a variety of reporting like you claim, you'd know that.
