UNESCO is quickly proving to be a joke: first the farce with China's ridiculous UNESCO bids and refusal to allow Japan to verify, now this obviously political decision that borders on hostility. It's no surprise why this farcical agency has been so defunded

Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said Israel will continue diplomatic efforts on the issue “and expects all relevant states to support its position on this matter.

The Israeli government asserts the right to impose its perceptions of the situation on all parties; thus words like "occupation" that accurately reflect the situation on the ground since 1947 cannot be uttered, much less written. Israel has become so paranoid that even referring to these sites (to which they refuse to allow UNESCO inspectors) by their Arabic names w/o Hebraic equivalents is enough to ignite an existential crisis. Meanwhile, Netanyahu visits Russia, privately embraces Putin as the new kingmaker in the region, and the US hands Israel $38 billion in military aid over 10 years. Unbelievable.
