Route 18 from Takasaki to Karuizawa is extremely dangerous; truck drivers speed toward Usui Pass without any regard to speed limits. In fact, the only thing slowing them are the numerous switchbacks.

"The lawyer added that Komi did not notice he was driving with a victim trapped underneath his vehicle."

As he drove away from the accident scene, defendant Ryuichi Komi deliberately swerved his vehicle from left to right across both lanes of the road in an attempt to dislodge the human being trapped under his vehicle, as evidenced by a trail of blood and tissue left behind on the road surface. He was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck, painted candy metalflake orange, that had many aftermarket "dress up" parts, including oversized chrome wheels.

TV news at noon today reported the woman victim suffered an minor injury to her hand.

However; is witnessing her life-long partner of nearly half a century being fatally impaled through the brain with a steel pipe not a greater injury?

Smith, several Japanese universities, including Rikkyo and Waseda support soaring clubs. On its home page, the Aviation Club of Waseda University "boasts a shining record of no fatal accidents in seventy-five years." Incidentally, the aircraft involved in the Gunma crash is a sailplane, not a "glider." (A glider by definition, can only glide and cannot gain altitude.)

@D. Harmadan: Not nonsensical at all; to the contrary, 'NA' is standard nomenclature for an normally-aspirated engine which lacks a turbocharger. The Move Canbus does not appear to be a performance-oriented model, and Daihatsu marketing are aiming at a broader market segment.

"I wonder if she was feeding him through the window..."

The park worker was in fact feeding the bears by throwing food from the car, as is standard practice at Gunma Safari Park. The bear, a 5-year old male weighing 160 kilograms, may have smelled the food inside the car (TV news segment showed a partially-eaten cucumber on the front seat). The victim Saito reportedly had recently transferred from another animal area and was possibly unfamiliar with the Asian black bears...
