If the scenario is that Nth Korea fired a missile & it already landed, where are those children running to? 2. Even if a missile was headed for them, certainly there are no bomb shelters, so wouldn't it just be safer to keep them inside their classrooms rather than out in the open where they would be at greater risk? Bizarre.

Is the speech by the CEO really so full of vital information that they feel compelled to take notes? I notice a similar thing at my company where all new recruits feel they have to take endless notes they'll never look at again. Or is it just because they're in the front row?

Not sure this will help with chikan, but perhaps some other disturbances, arguments etc it might. To my understanding, chikan occurs mostly (not always of course) on very crowded trains where I doubt a camera would be of much use. You might see the resulting argument etc. Hopefully though it will act as some kind of deterrent.

Agree that it seems nonsensical to lower the height of seawalls? What is the reasoning..I hope nothing silly like obstructing a view or anything.

@techall it's probably something more like natural bounce-back. But I'll readily admit I'm not a geophysicist.

Strange that for companies such as this union membership is compulsory in Japan (because unions are toothless and weak, so allow management to keep a stranglehold on workers) but they actively try to discourage unions overseas where unions have actual power & sway. Well, not so strange after all I suppose.

People jumping in front of trains is bad enough mentally for people forced to experience or watch it, but this takes it to a whole new level. If it does indeed turn out to be a suicide he's intentionally caused an accident which could easily have caused serious injury to the driver and the passengers in that carriage which derailed. A lot of police recently seem to have major mental issues, perhaps on the job stress counselling or better screening before they join would help.

However, unlike other world cups, it takes real fans to sit through an entire 3 or 4 hours game of baseball. Especially when it includes such baseball powerhouses as....Israel? I'm sure the vast majority of that revenue will come from the final 4 games alone.

Why the necessity to not be rude? I get cold-called almost once a week as it seems my number somehow ended up on a property cold-call list. As soon as I say "not interested" they ask "but whhyyy?". So cutting out my initial answer & just hanging up saves us both time.

Posted in: Do you think cold calling is an effective sales method? What do you do when you receive one and you don't have time (or the inclination) to listen to the caller? How do you end the call without being rude?

Do they all go to the airport every time? I recently watched the PM's motorcade on Youtube and it is quite a drama just for his one car. Can't imagine the goings on for him plus the Emperor & his whole family.

Sunwolves are in for a shock this season as they largely avoided NZ teams last year. This will be the first of many hidings, unfortunately for them. Wolves really needed to try harder to get more of their international team playing.

I wonder if it was Ricin? That is noted to kill in just a few hours, has no known antidote and is odorless/colourless. I think it is only effective if inhaled or injested so if the suspects washed their hands thoroughly they should be okay (as they in fact were/are). His early symptoms would largely fit ricin poisoning as well.

A team at my company organized a nomi-kai to celebrate the first premium Friday. But because 3pm is "too early" it was decided to leave the office at 4pm instead. You really can't help some people....

@ techall Apparently not. The IOC have told Japan to change clubs or else lose Olympic Golf. It will do nothing to create change at that club of course, but at least there will be some sucking of air & the Japanese Olympic Committee will move the event.

It's hard not to write a sarcastic comment about their concept of "inclusion" in the Paralympics. I truly wonder what little would get done in Japan (increased access for the aged, increase of smokefree areas) without these Olympics. They're going to plunge the economy into despair but at least there might be some benefit after all.
