smithinjapan: I think the article says it was a 66 year old woman who murdered the child. Maybe you meant to say "her", but yeah, agree.

I greatly reduced my frustrating by buying a dash cam (in Japanese it's called ドライブレコーダ. This way I know I have on tape what others do and if someone causes an accident and I'm involved, I can prove my innocence. I think this item should be mandatory for all vehicles, that way people would behave because then they know they are being recorded. Stay safe everyone.

Ed Grubb: That is bad advice. I was a witness to a drunk driver hit and run case (minor but he was still drunk) and made statement. In the end, I was rewarded a small amount of money in cash.

We need Duterte --- Very bad. Duterte is a very bad person and murders people. Japan does not need him! I think those arrested in this case will not receive such harsh sentences as most of us think. Japan is very harsh on those who import, smuggle, or otherwise are serious drug dealers. Countries like Singapore and Indonesia most definitely carry out harsh sentences. Death. In my opinion, I think Japanese lawmakers should have a good long meeting with CNN Medical Correspondent Sanjay Gupta. He's a very good doctor and knows that medical marijuana is good thing.

You all should try driving in Okinawa. It's even worse here! Stay safe, everyone. Hope those boys will recover very soon.

There is no way the United States could defeat North Korea without the use of Nuclear Weapons and I doubt we would use them - well, unless Trump becomes President. We can't even win against scruffy ISIS members. Would be a long fight and our forces are totally tired out from fighting wars. A dangerous situation me thinks, but I don't think NK will attack. They just want attention.

That is truly one dangerous country. I guess K-pop is not very popular there. Stay safe Korean friends.

Yabaru is right. A major benefit of accepting a job on base is the addition of SOFA which qualifies them to use on-base facilities such as the BX, Commissary, Post Office, fuel on base (AAFES), etc.

I disagree. From what I read, life in a Japanese prison is much like military boot camp, which is not hell. Thought but not hell. Now, life in an American prison where rape is common place is hell. Take your pick. Anyway, I prefer to stay out of either one. Still...a horrific crime committed here. Wow! RIP little one.

Everyone lost that day. Very sad. My heart goes out to everyone. Be safe, folks. Drive slow. No need to rush - ever.

Deported? Seriously? I doubt it. He would have to commit a very serious crime in order for that to happen. Even a drunk driver who killed a motorcyclist a few years back was not deported. Just jailed and heavily fined. Anyway, back on topic here: a fine with a stern warning would suffice, me thinks. Keep it legal.

Pulling the ear of a child is very painful. Many kids have chronic ear infections (I'm an adult and have that problem) and pulling the ear is painful. It is assault! He handled it very wrong. They live in government subsidized housing and there is someone they can talk to if there are problems. Taking the situation in his own hands is wrong. C'mon, they're kids and it wasn't in the middle of the night.

Wow, the judge must have really been in a good mood. What a light sentence. After all that fuss with her and all those active duty personnel "punished" for her actions and she goes practically free. Wow!

I'm disappointed that the new iPhone 7 did not come with either a dual SIM tray or at least an internal embedded like the iPad Pro. That wold have been a real nice feature that would have prompted me to buy it, but now I will wait until next year. This feature would have been handy for people who travel frequently such as myself. Oh well...another year with my Galaxy Note 2 brick.

I'm a little disappointed at Apple. All the real good features of the new iPhone will be on the larger 5.5" model leaving the smaller sized iPhone with the same features as previous phones. Sorry but 5.5" is just WAY to large a phone to carry around. Can't even put it in your pocket of a loose pair jogging pants without the weight of it pulling down the pants when running. Just too bulky and heavy. Maybe 2017 will bring something better but now that leaves me another year with my oversized 5.5" Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet. Phooey!

The Philippines will never prosper. Look at where Korea was in the early 80's compared to where the Philippines is now. South Korea has prospered, the Philippines never will. America continues to support the Philippines but many (though not necessarily all) scam American citizens and those of other nations to no end. Everything in the Philippines is a scam. You can't trust anyone and I mean no one. Now Duterte comes in office and is a Buffoon just like what Trump will (is) be if he is elected President. Duterte should be impeached and kicked out of office. Phooey. I say stop supporting the Philippines until they try to help themselves and stop scamming foreigners for everything they have. The Philippines was a much better place before Clark AB closed.
