Yes it can, everyone can live without China, just takes some guts and people with backbone, collectively.

If you don't mind paying higher prices, yes.

    Gladly

Somebody's feeling the pressure and needs to deflect!

When faced with a domestic scandal, demonize either North Korea or the Chinese.

To the two experts. In your expert knowledge then neither China or NK are threats?

No surprise there, from the shameless war mongers and hypocrites themselves, China.

China is an enemy. One can only imagine what China would do if they thought no-one could stop them. Message to rest of the world: stop funding China's military with your business.

I hoped Japan would not crumble under the whining our-way-is-the-best-way foreigners pressure.

therougou: When "foreigners" means most of the developed world and many undeveloped countries as well, their way usually is the best way.

And there it is. So arrogant

There are thousands of non-smoking restaurants. Nobody forces anyone to work or dine in a smokey izakaya.

Well said, there are indeed many. The Olympics is just 2 weeks, how pathetic to make such permanent changes for 2 weeks. I hoped Japan would not crumble under the whining our-way-is-the-best-way foreigners pressure.

Wrong. Look at NZ, Australia, Canada - they have all seen their nations prosper dramatically due to the influx of immigrants (many of whom are refugees).

Only 3 places you can name? Didn't mention Europe?. Whatever you and the sheep on here say it does not matter. Japan has the right to make their own rules, it is no-one else business.

Their country their rules, hasn't turned out well for other countries so no harm in being strict on the subject. Singapore has a similar stance (I think)

It should fly them somewhere else, for sure. Like Canada. Should they instead stay forever stranded in the case of transit customers, and them pay for everything out of THEIR own pocket?

Will it pay for time lost? hotels they have to stay in while trying to find an airline that hasn't bent over for Trump? Are they going to set them up to go somewhere with a backbone?

Smith blaming Japan as usual. Shouldn't you direct your hostility towards Trump since he is the cause not the airlines.

No demands made, can't you read?

smith: Why does Japan always think it can have both ways, or that people would accept it?

Utter rubbish as usual. They are just looking out for their UK businesses as anyone would

@ dcog9065 Stop it man, the ppl here don't care about facts. They're just here to consolidate one another's fantasies about how they're all morally and intellectually superior to the majority of Japanese people who vote for/support Abe (latest poll shows support at 67%).

Nice one dcog, you are spot on

It's abuse, bottom line, and for yet again an outdated ceremony that no one cares about save those proud and wounded few who must defend it. It's not just the alcohol they force feed the fish, it's the keeping them out of water, struggling, panicking, and suffering that is part of the abuse as well. I hope that people see this and shun the place until it is stopped.

Oh please just get a grip will you. You people seem to always over react to the the slightest thing
