first thing I realised when dating J women was, YES means yes or maybe , and MAYBE means no, you very rarely ever get an outright NO.

the hidden costs are in the exchange rates, J banks normally have crappy rates compared to a forex broker. my broker is 4~6 yen different to what my J bank charges

Pointing a finger is considered especially rude in Japan. that one line says a lot about what you think about Renho . also its not like Japanese dont point. I saw Aso point to a foreign minister of another country not long ago. Its Ok for a Japanese to do it to a gaijin but not another Japanese? by the way Renho is a Japanese citizen and a woman

@jefflee dont worry jeff , gary predicted that the yen would be in the low 90s by now and with the likely US fed raising rate before years end look even more unlikely the yen will even stay in the 90s for any period of time. Im glad I don't take any financial advise from JT experts, id be bankrupt years ago!

my whole point is many people go to Uni for the sake of just getting a degree, In many fields its necessary, but in many fields you have to weigh the time spend at Uni and the debt incurred and see if worth it. In my case and many others its certainly wasnt. If anything today you see so many Uni graduates doing low paid jobs with no future with qualifications that far outweigh the jobs theyre doing. And yes I actually went to Uni to study Architecture and dropped out after 1 year to start a job, best decision I ever made.

I went to university, changed my course after a year, spent a year in South America and enjoyed every moment. I'm sure I could have been working and "getting ahead" but I made my choice, as you did. thats just it ive traveled throughout Asia and Europe many times, I work hard now while im young and healthy so I can retire earlier and set up my family when I do retire. would take me at least another 7~10yrs to earn lost earnings while studying and pay off the associated debt . My father started working at 17, retired a 10s millionare at around 54, lives a relaxed life traveling the world over. While I doubt Ill have my fathers wealth when I retire, I hope to be able to retire at a similar age.

What the US doesn't need is another damned lawyer bungling and selling out to big business. much better than a corrupt business man that has had 3500 litigation against him and 6 bankruptcy all the while hiding behind his army of lawyers to keep him out of jail.

**If you're really worried, install some pumps and an exhaust fan. That will cost about 10 grand, and take 4 guys about 8 hours to complete. ** it a lot more complex than that, you need to set up a very complex filtering system that pumps up the ground water , filters it , the pumps it back into the ground. This needs to be don until the groud water is back to acceptable levels. They had a similar system in Sydney setup on their ground water many years ago as it was contaminated by a petroleum refinery, cost many $100s millions and many years to complete

The iTunes company in Tokyo is believed to have since paid the roughly 12 billion yen amount in full, according to the sources. yeah but they clearly were trying to avoid paying that amount by moving profits offshore, I has a small error in my tax lodgement a few years back, which resulted in a back payment and a small fine, I wonder if Apple paid a fine normally 5%~10% of the amount. The thing is Apple and other big corporation continue to do these evasions, because they know the penalties are far lower than bounty of cheating the system.

if Apple or any big company sells products in Japan they should have to pay the 8% on those products just as any smaller business. this profit shifting is just a scam by them to evade tax. If big companies paid there fair share of tax the smaller guy wouldnt be crushed under the mountain of taxes lumped onto them since they dont have the resources to evade taxes like the big guys

**The yen as a "safe haven" ** yeah certainly not a reflection of the health of the J-economy. but not to worry the US will most likely have to raise interest rates that have sat at near zero for about 10yrs, when that happens watch all the $ start flowing back into the US currency. It'll take a brave speculator to bet on the $ weakening against the yen before the years out.

Nishikori have done tremendous work and play his best and yet what all these critics are doing? best way to silence the critics is to win a major, sadly Kei has only come close on one occassion, and continue to fail at the business end of the majors. You can only be considered a great tennis player if you can win two or more majors, second major proves the first wasnt a fluke.
